[1:40 AM] Sonic
X Stuff, etc
Update by: Artie
By now many of you probably
know we've finished subtitling the second episode of Sonic X, and
it's been out for about a day. At least, if you check the new Sonic
X page here, you'd know ^_^ From now on all info pertaining
to Sonic X will be posted there, unless it's something really big.
Anyway, on to the second part of
this update. Upon the suggestion from someone, I've put up a PayPal
donate button (top right of the page) for anyone who wishes to contribute
money in appreciation of our efforts. Be it on the Sonic X fansubs,
or the rest of the site I keep up here :) I don't intend to make
any money off it, this server costs me over $100 a month
to keep online. Lately it's been getting to be a pain to have to
cover that myself as I have been for the past who knows how long.
If by some miracle I actually get over $100 in donations in a month,
I'll carry the rest over to next month's hosting costs. So any money
donated will go to paying for my hosting ^_^; Anyway, a donation
is just that, a donation. It's your own choice if you want to or
not, and how much you want to donate. If you don't want to donate,
then don't. We'll still keep doing what we're doing. But it'd be
nice to not have to pay $100 a month for this site on my own :/
Even $5 is better than nothing :) Thanks in advance to anyone kind
enough to donate ^_^ It is very much appreciated.

[4:05 PM] Sonic
X - Episode 2 Framegrabs
Update by: Artie
I've put up 81 framegrabs
from Episode 2 of Sonic X today. We're working on subtitling it,
and are hoping to have it done in 3-4 days. However, that's just
an estimate, as we're working on it around our real lives, and will
try to have it finished as soon as we can ^_^;
Also, I'm going to be making a seperate
page on this site for Sonic X, and information on our fansubs of
it. Including more detailed information on how to download from
IRC, BitTorrent, etc. I'll probably work on that once we finish
Episode 2. So watch for it. If you're interested in knowing where
we stand on completing the episode, the most current status can
be found in the topic of our IRC channel for it, #artail on irc.aniverse.com.

[1:10 PM] Sonic X Episode 1 -
The Fansub
Update by: Artie
Well, as I told you,
we were working on it, and Deep Freeze Productions and Team Artail
have finished subtitling the first episode of Sonic X! It's currently
being distributed in a number of ways. Unfortunately I can't offer
it for download here on Team Artail, as it would draw too much bandwidth
and the site would go down probably before long. I'd get a huge
bill too ^_^; But! Here are ways you CAN get it (Remember, you need
the DivX 5.0.3
codec to watch it):
UPDATE! (4/14/2003 @ 2:10 AM) - We have a web host on a decent
connection for Episode 1. So for all you people who don't know how
to get it from one of the following methods, you can get it simply
by using this link: [DF-TA]
Sonic X - Episode01.avi (156MB). RIGHT CLICK TO SAVE. Simply
clicking on it will most likely cause it to just open in your media
player. It's a very large file, so using a download manager might
help you if you get disconnected. We think it can be resumed. Or
if you feel confident that it'll finish in one go, just right click
and "Save as..." :) If at all possible though, please
use one of the alternate methods below. We'd like not to put TOO
much load on the server! ^_^;
BitTorrent - Probably the easiest way to get it at this point.
If you're not familiar with BitTorrent, you can read about it and
download the program here.
Once you've installed BitTorrent, all you need to do is follow
this link, and click on the "download this file" link
on that page. If your browser asks you what you want to do with
the file, choose to open it. BitTorrent should do the rest. To put
it simply, BitTorrent is like p2p sharing, but you upload to other
users automatically as you download the file, and other users upload
to you as they download, so there's no leechers, and everyone helps
everyone else get it :) So, once you have the completed file, leave
the download window open for a while if you can, to help others
get the file. Thanks. :)
IRC - We've set up #artail on irc.aniverse.com for serving
the episode (and more as/if we get them done). Just drop by and
do a !list to see who's serving.
Usenet - The file is being posted as I write this, to alt.binaries.anime.
If you're familiar with newsgroups, you can get it there. You can
look here
for a guide to newsgroups.
Well, that's it for now. If you have no idea what any of that stuff
means, you can always tell a friend about it, and maybe they can
get it and then give it to you :) We hope you enjoy our work.

[1:00 PM] Sonic
X Framegrabs
Update by: Artie
As most everyone out
there knows, the first episode of Sonic X aired on TV Tokyo on April
6. A mere two days later, (Well, almost 3 if you go by Japanese
time right now), we bring you 79 high quality frame grabs from the
episode. Enjoy, and if you put them on your own site, please give
credit or link back to Team Artail! Thanks. :) Oh, and as you may
have guessed from this, yes, we have a high quality AVI of the episode.
No, you may not have it. I say this only because it's a 177MB file.
Quite a lot to send to everyone. I'm getting it to my translation
team and we'll be working on putting out a subtitled version. It
won't be hosted here, but watch for news about it. That's it for
now! Have a nice day! ^_^

[4:45 PM] Wanted - Sonic X
Update by: Artie
Wanted: Someone who
can deliver us raw (Japanese) episodes of Sonic X. If you live in
Japan, or another Asian country which Sonic X airs in, we need someone
who can send raw episodes of Sonic X our way. We're prepared to
translate and subtitle them, we just need the video itself to get
started. So please drop an
email to me if you could possibly do this.
[10:45 PM] HAPPY NEW YEAR - We're
back!
Update by: Artie
It's the first day of
the new year, and to kick things off, we're baaack! Pre and I have
worked feverishly on getting things back online over the past week.
Though Pre has done a lot more work on the server side that I never
would have been able to do on my own. So mucho thanks goes to him
for helping to get everything back online so quickly. Now, as you
may have heard, we didn't have a COMPLETE backup of the site. So
here's a few notes:
1. The biggest thing is that we didn't have any of the art in the
archive backed up beyond April 2002. And even that was only a partial
backup. So anything that was uploaded after that time will have
to be reposted by the artist if they wish to do so.
2. The old art archive is gone! But the art is still all
here. We've taken all those images and put them into the ImageFolio
script, so now there is just one big archive. All the images still
retain their old dates, so they're on the last pages of an artist's
gallery. They currently are without their descriptions though, as
that will take a bit more work to get into the system. But rest
assured we're working on it. Having all the art in one place makes
the site a bit less cluttered.
3. I'm bound to have missed some files and things in restoring the
site back to what it was, so I'm going to need your help in notifying
me of any problems. If you find any broken links, please notify
me at mrartemis@comcast.net.
Likewise for you artists, in the process of restoring all your artwork,
I may have inadvertantly posted some images that were supposed to
have been taken down, so please let me know if I need to delete
anything from your archives.
4. If you were hosted on my server, and don't have your webspace
back yet, get in touch with me and I'll get you set up again.
And I think that's it. Basically, if there's any problems, notify
me.

[1:20 AM] Music
Links Working Again!
Update by: Artie
Yeah, I actually took
some time tonight and did some work to fix something that's been
broken for quite some time now, that a lot of people have been wanting
back. I fixed the music section so the RealAudio links work again!
But get in all the listening you can for now, because I'm not sure
how long I'll leave ALL the tracks up. Those music files eat up
a lot of bandwidth, so in the near future I may cut back to a few
(5-10 maybe) sample tracks for each album.
[12:25 AM] Has it been almost 4 months? o.O
Update by: Artie
I really need to get
off my arse and do some stuff with the site. I will! Really.. soon.
But today I took off the Team Artail Radio button, since Live365
sucks now and I'd have to pay or something. Sorry you'll have to
do without it :/
Also, a few folks have been asking me what happened to Sonic HQ
and The Sonic Foundation. Well, I don't know anything about Sonic
HQ, as that seems to be very recent.. but tSf will be back up eventually,
Kedzie has told me he's working on a redesign before he gets it
back up.
Aaand as for why the server has been experiencing so much downtime
lately.. Pre is working on fixing that, hopefully it won't happen
again :P
