"Okay." Chirin had been able to see him while still facing front,
cause of his wide vision. He hoped no one had noticed their
whicpering. right now they couldn't discuss anything. At least hey
were only training for now..it would give them at least another day
to all live and plan together. And he might learn where huntkos sat

Down the next turn the tunnel slope down. Sindos always felt as if
they were walking right into the bowels of hell every time they
followed down this pathway. The whole place was as Lentiago often
loved to refer to it as Hell. Another passage way and they would
reach the arena.

Chirin felt the spirits around him in the walls, changing like a
crowd as he descended through the great house of rock. His electric
sense was acutely tuned in to the markings of the elements in the
stone, air, even the slow flow of water that formed icicles of rock
above and around them.
He smelled blood, and his being grew fidgety, he kept stopping and
starting and his tail lashed. He didn't want his feet to keep
walking, but there were guards everywhere there might be an eascape.

He grazed himself. He had to wake up. He splashed himself with some
water and looked at the group. He was ready he guessed as he nudged
his brother and made a face. Brodi giggled and made his own face
back at him.

Bianca began to graze outside. Nadia walked about, her heat setting
in further. She ate with Ginger and Bianca. Pomona could see the
sneasals out in the fields. She had no clue who she would distract
them so Tonya could slip away. She kept a careful watch for any
chance.

Krista enjoyed the grass, it was good stuff, if a bit overgrazed here
and there. There was plenty of room for them to spread out, and as
she got further away from the caves the grazing got better. She
stayed with the flock, true to her strong flock instinct.

Sindos got the feel of icy fingers curling about his throat. He had
killed three rams down here to keep himself alive. His hooves
clattering against the stone floor chilled him. Sindarios kept his
head high, he had done only what those rams would have done.

Chirin wondered how far it was. There were infinite possibilities
about escape, though. "Te ceiling," he whispered to Sindos. There
were passages up there,or so it looked. Sounds faintly came down from
some, but others were dark and silent.

"Wel that's good." Krista thought it was the ideal situation. Relaxed
and content she nibbled her way along until she'd had her fill. Then
she stood up, holding her flippers out and trying to conjure up
electricity. Again there came only faint static cling.
It saddened her...Chirin had been there the other times she'd tried
to make electricity.

"Our playground! Where we beat each other to death." Slizzle
snorted. "Such a pretty place."
He didn't give a fuck if he pissed off the guards or anyone else. He
was tired of this place.

Chirin tried to focus his gift towards it, and he had some success,
although he was moving away from it and that hampered him. There were
limits to what he could sense with it even after the experience he
had gained with its use. All he knew was that one of the passages
definitely led somewhere high...high enough to tax his gift as he
reached up higher and further with it. He was searching for something
that would allow them to use it as an escape hatch...an opening to
the outside world.

Chirin knew what happened if you pissed the guards off. He wanted to
keep himself intact and all, thank you. That wasn't the way to get
out, but slizzle had clearly given up on it and didn't care.

"Yeah, good." It came out the same way she felt, it lacked truth
when Pomona said it was good.
She thought of starting a fight maybe then again she didn't want to
hurt any of the others nor willing to get them in trouble. She paced
thinking it had to be something that would grab attention away from
everything else. Again a fight came to mind. She sighed she was

Chirin was tempted to try to kill the smeargle from the inside out--
like the gift had once tried to kill him, on more than one occasion.

Chirin kept his gift moving up that tunnel. It led upwards, towards
some water place where it joined an underground river that, he
guessed, flowed inside from atop the mountain, or maybe bubbled up
from a spring beneath. he couldn't tell...he had no time. He was now
being whisked forward, and who knew if huntkos would change his mind
or something and make them fight right then? He couldn't spare his
gift on exploring the shaft right now.

Sindos still held the hope for escape one day. He for now had to
assume the role of a captive. He reframed from retaliation for the
way Slizzle was being treated and in the end it was his fault, he
shot his mouth off again.
Blackadar grew fidgety as they neared the arena. The place
frightened the ramling. He bit down a whimper, he fought his legs'
urge to run, his mind raced with the thoughts of flight.

"it's okay." chirin walked close to blackavar and tried to send him a
warm current. anything to bond with him a little and ease his worry.
There was nothing like companionship to relax a sheep, after all.

Lupaul was leading the way and Keha followed after. He hoped they
were almost there. He rubbed at his betaka and realizing what it
was, it was a very familar sensation to him. He looked at Amber then
Estella and his eyes fell on Clover.
The ewes had been settled a long time ago so it could only be the
doe setting off his betaka. He began to realize that had be it. He
hoped she would find herself a buck quickly so his betaka wouldn't
bother him much.

Chirin saw the cavern and its wide expanse of space. ahead ofhim,
sindos was already throwing light onto it. Chirin stepped into the
room--and felt an urge to run and run. mostly he just couldn't take
it anymore. He danced away from the closeness of the guards.

Dunder lit his flame colar. He spat flames setting hay stacks on
fire set in the niches of the room. Once the "torches" were burning

"It--did you--lose any lambs...yet?"Krista felt unsure of how to even
speak about it. She didn't want to offend and at the same time she
was too horrified by the whole idea. On her farm, lambs were never

Chirin wanted to speak...but dunder was too quick to brush past and
leave. Was there hope...was there any hope from him? Was Dunder just
going to give lip service to gratefullness or would he do anything to
help overthrow Huntkos? He longed for a chance to talk to him.
He turned back to face the flaming haystacks. The smoke reached his
nose and made him skittish. He would stay far away from the
flames...he was already heading over towards the center--away from
the fires and the guards.

Krista had until sometime next year to get her lamb to safety even if
she conceived it within the next few days. "i...I don't know what to
do...I couldn't let them kill my baby." and yet if she had never left
the farm, would she have given what took place there any thought?

Chirin looked around the company. He was expected to fight with them? This was
ridiculous...if they were just going to be told to try and kill each other in
the end, what was the point in training right now?
The rams were a mix of ages and bloodlines. Some tall, some short, some young
and some older. Sindos was a tall young ram...the only one who appeared to
even come near Chirin's match in a duel, either larger or smaller. He flicked
his lights to Sindos, as if to cue him in. He'd be his partner...the only
problem was, when to stop. Ram battles were decided in only a few strikes
usually, although they could go much longer. He would treat this like a
friendly spar.
And while he did so he studied the ledge that ran along the upper cave wall.
Huntkos would stand somewhere around there...he sought openings, entrances.
Did Huntkos use the entrance they had or did he use a different one? How did
he get up there if he used this entrance down here?

Sindos nodded to him. He glanced about at the guards, there was only
really Doga down here and a few cubones watching. He looked over the

Out in this open arena, something else troubled him altogether. The
spirits of those killed in the fights.
He didn't know if they would take sides with him, but they would
almost certainly side against Huntkos. While he was here he had to
explore those holes. At least one was used by huntkos...and with his
electric gift he could explore some of it. Before he got a lan he had
to do all he could to learn the cave system. That would be what the
plan would be founded on.
Chirin flashed his lights almost playfully; had they been free, that
would have signalled play-fighting. He ran at sindos, but tried to
keep the impact light. If only the two of them had more time
here...who knew how long before they were locked in their cages again?

Sindos knew they only had to look like they were fighting so he
charged at Chirin but, with a light charge. He didn't have any
intention of actually hurting anyone during these training hours.

Chirin felt the little smack on the hed jewel. It was a sound enough
hit, but nothing fun about it. It would've been fun if they had been
free. he bounced back, feeling an edge of the desire for conquest
that was buried deep inside every ram. Yet...his mind kicked in and
he remembered all over the futility and inanity of it all. Really, he
suspected that these little training sessions were just to give the
rams the chance to burn off energy. Although, why would they want to
do that?
He kept his gift moving through those tunnels. they all led back, one
of them led to the side and turned into a bunch of other caves. He
was dimly aware of living beings down those caves, but the farther
his gift reached the less focused it became.
The last tunnel sloped downward, heading into the depths or who knew
where, and branching into a number of caverns. Way far below
that...where his gift's limits were reached and tailed off, he sensed
an unrest of mother Megga.

Chirin took off charging towards sindos, in the most lackluster
sparring he had ever done. they could probably keep going through the
motions like this for hours, and as long as they let out some sparks,
it looked impressive enough to anyone who wasn't another ram.

Sindos kept up his end of the mock battle. He didn't know what he
was looking for exactly but, his eyes really saw the room for the
first time. Now that he was really trying to get out of this place
his senses were alive. He didn't know what he was searching for but,
he felt he would know when he saw it.

Chirin was pretty sure that he had already found what he needed to in
order to put a plan in place, at least lay down the framework for it.
He just needed to know more about where that deep tunnel went, and
then, on his way back, he needed to use his gift to figure out where
that upper tunnel led to, the one that joined the underground water.
The spirits could help him. Yes! His gift could not travel that far
from him without his taxing himself too much right now, but a spirit
could fly down there and see for itself where the tunnel led.

Lentiago and Blackadar clashed both charging in another false
battle. It was merely to keep their strength up for the real
battles. Corn sat watching it was all frightening yet hard to look

Pomona thought about it. No one had to get hurt and it might work.

Chirin backed up from sindos, and stood directly upright, flippers
out. He flickered his lights to the other ram, nearly forgetting that
they were prisoners for just a split second as he invited the other
ram to lock flippers and wrestle.

Chirin's feet stepped back and forth and to the sides like he and
sindos were dancing. The other ram was strong and Chirin put some
muscle into the effort. He found himself almost having fun. it was a
channel for him, to use his body and release pentup dark energy.

Blackadar looked his way when he began to shout. The ramling bleated

Chirin heard the young ram's cry and let it roll through him, feeling
the rather awkward words, they stung with the awkwardness of youth,
but in that way they were more touching. Maybe Slizzle had not yet
given up. He just hoped the ram kept himself...out of trouble, for
all that was worth here. For whatever that defined.

Sindos took what fun he could find in this. Down here any amount of
fun was an escape from thier lives in the slave pits. He strained
his muscles as he refused to lose, a game of strength was what he
needed right about now.

Chirin's natural sense of competition kicked in. He laid a little more
pressure against sindos, leaning more weight against the ram. He jerked to the
side to try to throw him down.

To the smack of ram's head jewels Chirin danced the wrestling dance with
Sindos. He loved wrestling, the sweat and effort combined with fun. he felt
like he and Sindos were good friends already, together with that rivalry that
always existed between rams.

Blackadar felt his body juanted by the blow. He fell backwards. He

Chirin came down on sindos, surprised that the ram had clung onto
him. This was odd...usually the aim was to throw your rival down. but
he could play like this too...it had been a while. He gave Sindos a
rough grin as he tried to straddle and pin the other ram down. One
thing he had noticed was that Sindos was faster than he was.

The loud staccato bleat of dominance gave Chirin more fire in his
movements. The ram leaned in against Sindos, realizing that if they
were pitted against each oher in this place...that Chirin just
woldn't know how to kill him if it came to it. sindos was a friend
now!

Sindos tried to roll out from under. This was his chance to try and
pin him if he could get from under. He gambled with dragging Chirin

since his life wasn't on the line yet. He thought why not have fun?

growled kicking up dirt as he stared at the island ram. He was
making plenty of noise to get the bearded ram's attention and let
his intentions known.

It looked like his gamble hadn't paid off.

Chirin felt sindos wriggle. Knowing that on top was the best place to
be in a wrestle, Chirin braced himself over Sindos, trying to lock
him down there and hold him.
As he breathed near sindos' face, taking in the thick musky sweat, he
felt keenly the other ram's experience and desire to win. Something
more than friendly competition was backing it. Sindos was practicing
to win a fight for his life.

Chirin growled as he mock fought sindos. The other ram unbalanced
him, Chirin felt his foot slip. sparks popped on him as he splayed
his legs and tried to keep from being rolled.

Lentiago answered with his own display. He bellowed and charged at
the younger ram.

Chirin was smart and Sindos knew it take quite a bit to trick him.
He bucked again not ready to just give in. His fighting spirit still
intact and very alive he would keep trying to win. He needed this
one good challenge which he hadn't had in awhile.

Sindos let a low rumble as the mock fight went on, he saw his chance
when Chirin was slipping, Sindos began to wriggle again trying to
unseat Chirin.

Chirin tried to compensate by using his weight--his advantage here-
but he acted too late. he felt his balance shift to the side as
Sindos rose, trying to slam him over.
The ram growled and sparks connected over the two of them. Chirin
tried to use his weight and push back, regaining his position, but he
could feel himself being rolled...

Chirin's mouth opened as he breathed harder, he locked gazes with
sindos as he tried to remain on top. He could already feel himself
being tipped. His tail shot back behind him as he tried to keep from
being fully rolled onto his back.

Malachite woke first. He quickly looked around and hurried off.

Malachite headed stright for the water and looked into it. He looked
away almost instantly and turned to see his father standing behind
him.
"wassup spot?" Devlin grined. Malachite just glared at him.

Amphion sat with Noc as the elder ram spoke with his students. He glanced around and saw Loki, his tail wagged and he got up.
"Yimo!" He tapped loki's side.
"He's yours?" Dashuda looked at the hybrid then back at Loki.
"My adopted son." Loki tickled Amphion. "He's really gifted I hear. Noc wants to train him personaly that has to mean something."
"Yeah! Train... even...learn...pokespeak." Amphion said a bit uncomfortable. He perferred the island's language.
"Well! You are getting better." Loki ruffled his fur. Amphion laughed.
Helios wriggled about among the other kits. He made a few sounds as he shifted about and finally woke after some sleep.

Sindos grinned seeing Chirin losing the advantage. Sindos struggled
harder now. He growled and threw his strength into it. He was never
a quitter unless it was completely hopeless.

Chirin clenched his teeth and tensed al his muscles. Sindos was too
fast for him! And he was strong. ~Use your weight, that's the only
advantage you got is size.~ He growled out a bleat andstrained to
push sindos onto his back again. His tail thrashed.

He bellowed, his arms aching fom the strain and his back as well as
he tried to force himself up and throw Chirin off. He fought to win
and even if he had nothing to prove here he was having his fun.

Chirin lowered his head an tried to butt Sindos back. He lacked
experience and reflexes but he knew he was heavier. "Damn--you," he
grinned at the other ram, almost laughing as he tried to throw him
back on his back.

"There he goes again huh Decoda? Just because he's big we get shoved
aside you know." Sid Tori whispered and glared at that Charivari.
Sera looked over the island and smiled, it seemed like such a nice
place to raise Dinty and her lamb from Chirin when it came. She set
to eating while Dinty played around the field they had come into.
Bando saw the hybrid, his eyes set on Amphion and he just thought of
tons of jokes to say about him. The mareep laughed to himself as he
walked about head high and showin off his thick bands on his tail.
He was rather proud of them.

Lentiago crashed head on with him, the smaller ram dug his heels in
hoping to not get thrown but, his size disadvantage was the factor
here and he was thrown but, the island ram was on his feet again and
charging again.

Sindos hadn't expected him to butt so he was caught very off guard
and he felt himself slam down back into the dirt. Sindos was spent,
he had put too much effort into trying to win.
