It turned towards them.
Leon stepped back making sure Claire stayed behind him. "What the hell..."
Carlos looked it over. "Well...it's ugly...and dead...and ugly..." he commented. "And it's in leather...."
Danny got up weakly. "Carlos... Get the others out of here. The basement has a hummer full of weapons, try to get to it!" She ordered moving to try to attack it again.
Carlos nodded, and made a run for it, ducking past the hulking creature. He jumped over the broken mess, and went the quickest way to the underground parking lot. Jotaru's hand twitched for a moment, then fell back again.
Leon watched for a moment. "Go." He shoved Claire in front of him. Sherry ran between her and Carlos.
Nemesis grabbed Danny by the throat lifting her up. She struggled against it.
She stumbled over the wreckage, and ran as fast as she could, accidentally hitting Jotaru with a piece of wood as it flew out from under her boot. He opened one eye, and sighed.
Leon turned firing at the creature when it had grabbed Danny. "Detective you better be okay.."
"Yeah peachy... Someone get me down from here..." She gasped cringing when Leon's bullets did no real damage.
"Pretty one should not interfere...." It's voice was slurred.
Jotaru stood, and considered his options, then shrugged. He took off his trenchcoat, and jumped up, slamming his elbow down on the creature's shoulder.
It dropped her as it backed up a step. Danny scrambled back holding her neck.
Jotaru pulled out his knife, and began cutting at it as fast as he could. "Die...Die...Die...DIEEE!!" The last scream was almost inhuman, as distorted as the thing he was fighting.
"Damnit.. I've had enough of this... First the Bastard Irons molests me... NOt this monster's hitting on me as well as hitting me... I walked into some corny scifi prono..." She scowled.
Nemesis did what it could to block his attacks.
Jotaru grabbed the closest arm to him, then yanked it forward, locking it behind its back, and hitting him in the base of its spine with his knee. "How's ya like that? Want some more? Huh, do ya?"
Leon pulled her to her feet.
The creature howled. Danny turned looking at it. "Leon, go with the others. I'll help him and we'll catch up. The church right?"
The monster rolled back to crush him.
"Oh, man, this can NOT be happening!" Carlos muttered as he ripped off the bottom of the Hummer's dashboard. Claire was right behind him, leaning over his shoulder.
Using one leg as leverage, Jotaruh hooked his other foot around its leg, and tripped it up, sending it to the ground, then stomping on it wildly. "Have at you!"
Sherry climbed into the back and curled up inbetween two boxes of ammo.
Danny kicked out at it as the thing stumbled. Her high kick catching it in the throat. "Come on you bastard FALL!"
"What is it now?" Claire asked him, as he started fiddling with the wiring. His tongue was sticking out of the corner of his mouth as he tried to spark them together.
Leon made it to the hummer. "They'll meet up at the church. We should get the others.
Jotaru continued stomping. "I *stomp* say *stomp* we *stomp* run *stomp* for *stomp* it." he said, panting slightly.
Danny nodded as she jumped back slightly. "You okay?" She asked looking over at him.
"I'm fine...just...getting tired...from stomping..." he replied, kicking it once more for good measure.
She nodded. "Come on.. let's go." She held out her hand to help him up onto the rubble she was now standing on.
Carlos gave Leon a sour look. "Well, as soon as I get the engine goin--THERE!" With a loud rumble, the Hummer started up, and Carlos righted himself. Claire climbed into the back, wincing as the barrel of a rifle jabbed into her side.
Leon grinned. "Guess this means I have shotgun?" He asked getting in the passenger side. "You girls okay?"
Jotaru took it after grabbing his coat, and frowned. "I say the sooner we get out of here, the better."
"I'm fine... A little tired but not hurt." Sherry pipped up
Claire made a little sound as she shifted the gun so it wasn't pointing at her. "Just dandy....As long as we don't get blown up by the excessive amounts of ammo here, I'm happy."
Danny dropped down to the street and kicked the head off another zombie. She leaned against the wall. "When we get to the church they better have something to eat... I'm starving."
Jotaru smirked. "I bet you say that to all the guys.." He watched as something skittered through the shadows. "Right now, though, I'm more worried about what else got loose..."
Sue sat up near the alter in the main room of the church. She was silent, her lips moving, but her eyes were closed and her head bowed.
Danny nodded. "Let's go. If that thing wakes up... I'd rather it not touch me."
Jotaru snorted. "Hey, you're not the one who ended up with a broken neck."
"You'll live... You're still complaining." She flashed him a grin.
Becca leaned against the wall. "So far so good. Hope the others are okay though."
Chris was absentmindedly running a cloth over his gun, focusing on that one thing. He had changed into his green shirt, looking more like a soldier than normal. He had a slight frown on his face, and remained silent.
Jotaru gave her a sour look, and began moving faster.
Jill looked at him then at Becca. She glanced up seeing the top of Sue's head, the cat's tail showing in the isle beside her. "Becca, could you go to the back to find some blankets? Sue's going to need something to wrap up in when she does fall asleep." Becca nodded getting up to look as Jill walked over to Chris. "You okay?"
Chris remained silent, cleaning his weapon with an eriee calm. "Not really, no..." came his whispered reply.
Jill sat next to him. "We'll wait a little longer for the others then leave. I don't want the kid here any longer then needed. If we're going to bring them down we'll need her to testify."
Sue stood and walked towards Chris and Jill rubbing her eyes slightly.
Chris made a face, and raised the gun, pulling on the trigger and hearing the click. "Somehow, I don't think that's the problem...it's the getting out that is.."
"Miss Valentine... I have to use the ladies room... but I'm too scared to go alone..." She jumped when she heard the click from Chris's gun.
He went back to cleaning it, before reloading it and putting the safety on.
Jill sighed. "Come on sweetie.. let's go then." She flashed a grim smile to Chris. "Chris, it would help if you relax slightly, we don't need to scare the kid more."
Chris made a face at her. "Sure thing, SF."
Becca came back with a few blankets. One she placed over Barry's sleeping form.
Leon knocked on the door. "Come on... let us in guys..." He said firing at a few of the zombies in the courtyard.
Sue entered the stall after Jill had made sure that the bathroom was okay.
A man, looking like he was in his forties, was walking down the halls. He was wearing the UBCS uniform, and had a slight frown on his face. In his hands was a small handgun, and his eyes weres hinning with something. He was also whistling.
"Sue, stay here." Jill ordered and stepped out of the bathroom in order to check who was in the hall. She drew her gun being on edge still.
He spotted her, and raised his hands slightly. "Please, put the gun down...I am not your enemy...merely a lost soldier..."
She nodded relaxing. "Thought everyone from UBCS other than Carlos was one of them..." She nodded towards the wall meaning outside.
In another part of the church, a young Chinese-American woman wearing a red dress was sitting next to a stained glass window, a look of concentration on her face...as well as a hint of boredom.
The man smiled slightly. "Yes, I know...I was there when it happened...luckily I managed to escape after the monsters attacked our basecamp in the park."
Sue came out of the bathroom. She stayed behind Jill. Leon ushered the others in.
Claire sighed in relief. "Well, at least we made it, right?" Carlos nodded, and dragged in one of the weapons bags behind him.
Sherry saw the cat by the pew. "Cats.... You guys wouldn't know a girl named Susan would you?" She asked as the cat sniffed her.
Carlos looked around, and spotted something. "Hey...looks like someone's been here..."
Leon closed the door and looked at Carlos. "The others were here if that cat's here. Back at the office I remember it wouldn't leave the little girl's side."
Sue looked at the strange man. "Who are you?"
Jill looked at her. "Behave."
Suddenly, Claire let out a loud shriek as someone picked her up from behind.
Leon turned aiming his gun.
Sherry shreiked and hid behind the pew.
The silver-haired man smiled. "I am Nicholai....I am a platoon commander in the UBCS...or at least I was.." There was a hint of sadness in his voice.
Jill nodded. "Jill Valentine, RPD STARS."
Claire was about to ram her elbow in her attacker's face when she heard a laugh. A familiar laugh... "CHRIS, YOU JERK!"
Leon had relaxed the grip on his trigger almost laughing. "Careful Chris... That one's dangerous."
Chris, grinning like an idiot, spun Claire around, making her dizzy. "Hey, give it up! I'm gonna get sick!"
Sue jumped at Claire's yell and grabbed Jill's arm tightly, shivering. "I want to leave... can we get out of here... I don't like this town anymore." She decided to play the little kid act around the newcomer, not sure if she could trust him.
Sherry started for Chris, only to have Leon catch her. "It's okay he won't hurt her."
Nicholai smiled again. "A pleasure to meet you...I have heard the rumors of the mansion...it is an honor AND a privalige to meet you both."
Sherry sighed. "Okay..."
"What's the matter Claire? Didn't you miss me? And I see you're wearing that outfit you love so much..." Laughing, he set her back down, whereapon she fell on her ass.
Sue looked at him. "Then you know we have to go..." Sue said wishing she hadn't told Fluffy to stay. Something about the man was scarey. Jill hadn't said her name yet, but he had said both of them. Does he know I was there... He might know who I am... USBC is Umbrella run... Carlos seems trust worthy... But I don't know about this guy...
"She found us looking for you Chris." Leon explained having had heard that much from her on the way to the church.
Nicholai brushed at his arms, a weary look on his face. "You see, there has been rumors that the corporation had sent us here so we would be killed, to test their new bio-weapons...I did not want to believe it, but..." He sighed, his shoulders slumping.
"Daddy and Mommy wouldn't have agreed..." Sue covered her mouth. Damn...
Claire remained seated, before falling onto her back. "Jerk...knows that..always makes me..nauseous..."
Jill knelt picking up Sue. "Why don't we go back to the others?"
Nicholai nodded. "Yes, I would like to see who else made it here safely...I think we should figure out a way out of the city as soon as possible."
Sue clung to Jill. She stuck her tongue out at Nicholai.
Becca watched the siblings smiling slightly. "What about Jotaru and that Detective?"
The Russian laughed softly, and mussed with her hair. "Such spirit..." he commented.
Carlos made a face. "Well...we ran into a snag...a big, ugly snag..."
"It's been what's kept her going so far. Though when we get back she's taking a nap." Jill added.
"Fine fine..." Sue said placing her head on Jill's shoulder. Her eyes closed and she dozed off in the few seconds it took to get back to the others.
Nicholai hung back, still cautious about the reception he'd recieve.
Jill looked at him. "It's okay, there's not many of us who aren't infected..."
"Are you saying that you have some infected amongst you?" There was a worried sound in his voice.
"There's one... But the kid did something and he's not like the others. He's something else. She also has a cat that is infected... But so far it's only bitten one person because he tried to hurt her." Jill explained. "Apparantly the girl's parents were Umbrella scientists."
Nicholai raised one eyebrow. "Interesting...but, I will trust your judgement."
Jill opened the door to let him enter the room before her. "Back." She announced setting Sue down on the pew. She noticed the two girls. "Claire right? Chris has a picture of you on his desk."
The pony-tailed girl nodded as she sat back up. "I think...I'm gonna...be sick.."
Fluffy jumped up on the pew next to Sue and curled up next to her purring.
Chris looked at the newcomers. "So, what kind of snag?"
"He's USCB. One of the ones who were out in the woods." Jill said nodding to Nick. "Other than that I didn't get much, figured it would be better if I got Sue back here. What about the weapons now?"
Carlos finally dragged in the last bag, and panted. "This...is...the last...lot..."
Leon grinned. "And the Hummer still has a full tank." He said as he entered behind him, having had gone to back him up.
Nicholai frowned at Carlos' behaviour. "Stand up straight..present yourself with some dignity.." The hispanic stiffened when he heard the Russian.
"Hey, give him a break... The bags are heavy." Leon said having had pulled half of them in as well.
"That is no excuse for being so...disorderly. At a time like this, we must be in top shape...who knows what may lurk out there in the shadows?"
Jill rolled her eyes. "Look, Nicholai, we're safe for the moment. Some of us have been up the last few days, I know Carlos has. If you think you're going to order him around then take your chances out there with the infected."
Nicholai frowned, then fell silent. "Very well.."
Becca sighed. "We're not leaving until Jo gets here right?"
Chris shrugged. "Depends on how rough it gets...plus, we should secure the rest of the church...make sure there aren't any surprises..." That said, he holstered his nine millimeter.
"There aren't many doors to the outside here." Sherry said calmly. "I'll stay here though.. if it's okay."
"I don't think anyone's going to argue with you there..." Claire said coherently, managing to stand up with Chris' help.
"I'll check the back if you guys want to try the other doors." Jill said calmly.
Nicholai nodded, "That sounds like a plan...perhaps someone should also check upstairs? Some of the creatures could climb like spiders...in fact, some were spiders.."
Sherry shuddered. "I hate spiders."
Carlos made a face. "Bleah...giant spiders...that'd be fun to run into..."
Jill almost laughed. "Been there done that.... Shotgun shells work great on them."
Chris looked over everyone. "So, who takes upstairs?"
Leon picked up a shotgun and grabbed a box of shells. "I got it."
Chris nodded. "Okay..I'll take the front....I guess the new guy can take one of the side doors...anyone else volunteer?"
Becca took one of the smaller guns. "I'll help. No one's wounded, so better be useful another way."
"Okay...if that's all, let's get to work, okay?"
Leon, jill and becca nodded each heading for diferent parts of the building.
Nicholai roamed the side halls, being extremely cautious of where he was walking. Chris, in the meantime, walked out side, and looked around, checking the yard, and the outside streets.
Leon made his way up to the belltower.
There was a figure in the shadows near the quieted bell, sleeping, with a blanket over it. Soft sounds came from beneath it, and it slowly slid back down.
Leon prepped the gun. "Hello?"
".....zzzzzz..." came the response, as a hand became visible. Small, yet still strong, and definatly human.
Leon carefully moved closer and moved to shake the figure. "Hey, you okay?"
"...give it up....trying to sleep..." a female voice growled up at him, and a single eye became visible, the other obscured by her short dark hair. "...."
"It's not safe out here though.."
"It's not safe anywhere," the woman replied, her eyes blinking for a moment, adjusting to the dim light. "Besides, for all I know, you're some preverted freak."
"No way..." He held out his hands after placing the gun down. "See, I'm not going to hurt you. Why don't you come down stairs. It's a little safer there, and warmer."
"Give me one good reason..." She sat back up, revealing the elegant Asian features, tight red dress, and slightly ripped black leggings. At her side was a semi-automatic handgun.
"It's safer in numbers for one." Leon didn't move for his gun, not wanting to have her use hers on him.
There was a slight smile on her face. "And how do I know none of them are perverted freaks?" There was a hint of amusement in her voice as she fixed her hair with one hand.
"There's a few children with us... And so far none of us have tried anything with the ladies with us. We're trying to plan a way out of the city.... I personally will protect you from the others if you want."
She looked at him again, still amused. "Really now.."
"I haven't moved to harm you have I? Right now I'd just rather get as many of the survivors out of here as possible."
The woman looked up at him, a slight grin forming on her features. "What if I say no?"
"I won't leave until you say yes. I'm not leaving anyone behind." Leon said with a determined grin.
She laughed. "Oh, really? Would you drag me kicking and screaming if I refused?" Her eyes were shining, and she had a hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter.
"If I had to maybe."
"What if I threatened to cry rape?"
"With out me even touching you... I doubt it."
She gave him a look, and looked up at the sky. "Persistant, aren't you?"
"Been told that I am." He grinned sitting back against the wall. "Name's Leon. Leon Kennedy."
"Ada. Ada Wong..." She looked over at him. "So, Leon, what brings you to the point of no return?"
"I was transfered here a few days before Hell broke loose. Thought working in a small town would be fun... This is so not what I expected."
Ada shrugged. "Well, you live and you learn....me, I just came looking for someone, and ended up here."
"Who were you looking for?"
"Boyfriend...named John...he worked for a branch of Umbrella....who I heard has something to do with this mess.." She looked back up at the sky, and shook her head.
"I'm sorry." He looked down. "So far we haven't found anyone who worked for them other than one little girl."
She shrugged. "Don't worry about it..." She moved her head to look at him again, and smiled. "So, have anyone waiting for you, officer?"
"No." He said giving her a grim smile.
"Why so grim-faced? You'll end up looking like an old man before you know it."
"Just worried... I mean everyone here's gone... Who's to say that they didn't have other suprises?"
She shrugged again. "Well, there's no point in aging before your time..." She shifted her position slightly.
"Yeah you're right." He stood. "So, joining us?" He asked after checking to see if the walls were clear.
Ada paused to think it over. "I'm still not sure...after all, I've just met you.."
"What's stopping you?" he asked.
She looked up at him. "Well, I'm not one to blindly follow others...now, if you're a man of your word...you'll have to carry me down."
"Were you wounded?" He asked nodding. "I can carry you though."
She shook her head. "No, I'm just exhausted...I've been on the move for a week now...plus, you said you'd drag me if I said no. Since I'm not sure, you have to carry me instead."
Leon laughed. "Deal." He said picking up his shotgun and slinging it over his shoulder before moving to help her up.
She got into his arms, and wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing the blanket with her. "You actually think you can get out of here?"
"We're going to try." He said scooping her up into his arms. "I'm going to lock the hatch when we get down the stairs. Think you can stand on your own a few moments?"
She gave him a look. "I can do that for you...unless you think I'm not good enough for you.."
"If you want you can..." He was confused by her look.
She sighed, shaking her head. "I can see someone's still a virgin, too..."
Leon blushed. "Hey... That's low." He breathed hoping he didn't give it fully away that he was.
Ada just gave him an innocent look. "Was it?" she asked cutely, before laughing.
Leon chuckled as well. "You're a little minx aren't you?" He made it down the stairs to the door he had climbed the bell towere from.
"Your point?" she asked, winking.
"None at all."
Sue stirred slightly as she slept.
