A few moments after chapter 9

Chris looked up, and cursed. "What the fuck is that thing?!" he cried out, shooting at it with his handgun.

Becca scrambled back.

Sue saw the creature and screamed. Fluffy attacked it, only to get batted into the wall as well.

Jotaru looked up, and then around. "What the Hell's going on now?" he asked, opening his silver-and-black eyes again. He could make out the faintly-human outline. He knew what it was. He'd seen the reports. Only...it wasn't supposed to be this....grotesque... "Chris...get them out of here..." He slowly stood and faced it, his fists clenched so tight he was drawing blood that was vaguely black.

Chris picked up Fluffy, and went for Jill, dragging her back. "Shit...this day keeps getting worse by the second...remind me to pay back that bastard Irons if we get out of this alive..."

Becca scooped up Sue, who clung to her tightly.

"Jotaru... come on..." Sue screamed knowing it wouldn't do any good to fight the beast.

Jotaru continued to stare down the monster. "Leave...this thing...I know what this is...this is what Wesker was after...I can't let it live..." He reached back for his gun, only to find it was gone.

Becca fired a few rounds, almost hitting Jotaru. Sue cringed.

With that overwhelming feeling of dread, he reached down for his knife...the only weapon he had left. He took a deep breath, and looked up, grinning. "Come on out, you worthless waste of genetic material.." he laughed, twirling the knife in between his fingers.

Sue struggled against Becca. "Jotaru!"

The creature batted at him.

He ducked it, and caught the arm with his hand. Grinning, he pulled forward with all his might, dragging the thing towards him and into the light. Jotaru's eyes widened, and he shuddered with revulsion. "Oh..Christ...this thing...it's..."

It flicked it's wrist sending him back against Jill and Chris.

Becca backed up more holding Sue tight.

They fell to the floor in a heap. Chris looked up and blanched. "Holy...is that...what I think it is?" he asked quietly, his eyes widening like Jotaru's.

The creature focused on Sue, who shook her head. "I...I'm sorry..."

It moved to grab them.

Jotaru stood up again, and, screaming, slammed his elbow into its ribs, cracking them. He spun on his heel, and slammed one boot into its chest, missing the exposed, still beating heart.

The creature backstepped.

Sue turned into Becca biting her lip.

It swung out at him again, this time going to grab his neck.

Jotaru side stepped, but was clipped across the forehead and sent smashing into the wall behind him. Black blood trailed down his face, and he looked at it in shock. "What...the Hell...am I?" he asked, going numb from this new revelation.

It pinned him to the wall.

Sue whimpered more. Becca backed up more with her. "We have to get out of here."

Jotaru struggled. "Lousy bastard...it has one arm longer than the other!" He kicked at it, barely hitting it where he wanted to. He spotted the gun out of the corner of his eye. "My shotgun! Someone get it before this thing kills me!" He hissed at the Tyrant, and kicked it in the arm repeatedly.

Becca saw the shotgun. She set Sue down. "Get down the hall." She said diving for the gun.

Chris began gently slapping Jill awake. He whispered into her ears "Come on...don't be dead...don't be dead...damnit, don't you go die on me, Sticky Fingers..." He bit his lip, and nearly screamed.

Sue stayed where she had been set, looking at the beast.

Jill moaned starting to wake.

Tyrant lifted Jotaru up.

Jotaru kicked at it again, and cursed. "I can't do anything like this...I'm not close enough!" He struggled, and managed to free one arm...the one with knife. He grinned ferally. "Hope you like this, ugly.." With that, he rammed the knife into the monster's hand as hard as he could, driving it through the bone.

Becca grabbed the gun. "Here!" She tossed it to Jotaru.

Sue backed into a corner and curled up tightly. She had watched the experiments done. I... I couldn't stop them... They... they said he was a bad man... She thought wrapping her arms around herself.

Jotaru fell to the floor, holding the sawed-off, and grinning like a madman. "Look who's laughing now, you ugly sack of rotting flesh and puss..." he chuckled, lifting himself up, and pressing the barrels against the beating heart. With a grin, he pulled the trigger, and completely splattered the organ all over the place.

Becca jumped as the body fell.

Jill opened her eyes. "Ow..."

Jotaru rested his head against the wall, and looked at the black blood on his fingers. Sighing, he stood. He looked at Rebecca. "What's wrong with me? What is it that's so different about me?" he asked, his voice cracking.

"I don't know... but damn.. That was a good shot.."

Chris grinned. "Hey, Sticky Fingers...thought we lost you for good that time..." He then noticed Fluffy. He poked it lightly, and frowned. He couldn't tell whether it was alive or not.

Sue rocked slightly muttering to herself.

The cat growled slightly in irritation.

Jotaru nodded, and grinned. "Heh..I knew this thing would come in handy...." He cleaned the sawed-off by banging it against the wall, then holstered it. He walked over to Sue, and took hold of her gently, hushing her.

Chris backed off, not wanting the thing to bite him like it did Wesker.

It stood shakily.

Chris found his gun, and sighed. "Well, we've taken care of that little problem..NOW can we get out of here?" he asked, slipping the gun into its holster. Jotaru remained with Sue, looking at her closely.

Sue hugged Jotaru. "I...I'm sorry.... I... You're not alive like we are..." She whimpered. "I... It gave you back yourself... but..." She whimpered still shaking.

Becca nodded. "Getting out of here would be good."

Jill got up, having to lean against Chris for support.

Jotaru blinked. "You..you mean..." He looked again at the blood. "I'm...I'm..." He closed his eyes, tears forming. "Goddamnit...." He shuddered, then looked at Sue. "Leave...go...get out of here...leave me..."

She shook her head. "You... You're not going to be like them... Please... come with us."

Chris looked away, and lead Jill down the hallway. "I think we just keep heading forward..." he said absentmindedly, his own eyes beginning to cloud.

"No one else has to know."

Sue tugged his arm. "Please..."

Jotaru growled. "Don't you understand? I'm not even human anymore...if..if Umbrella, or anyone else finds out, they'll...they'll use me to start this all over again..." He held his head in his hands, tears flowing down his face.

Sue looked at him. "They'll be able to if they get me... Who made it so they could manipulate the virus?"

He smiled sadly. "That's not the point...I'm a carrier...if something cuts me, I'll start spreading the virus...either way you look at it, I'm dangerous now...I don't even know if my tears aren't virally contaminated..." He looked at his wet hands, and smiled sadly. "Let me ask you something.....was this all worth it? All these lives...for some stupid weapon?"

"What I gave you neutrilized it... Please.." Tears were in her eyes. She sank to the floor. She shook her head. "I didn't know that's what I was doing when I toyed with it... I..." She curled up more.

He looked at her. "I know...but that's what Umbrella was planning all along...I mean, can you justify that bastard over there any other way?" he asked, pointing at the apparantly dead Tyrant. "All of this...was planned..." He smiled, and closed his eyes. "Do I even belong anymore? I don't even know what sets me apart...what's the thing about me that's changed on the outside?"

Sue looked into his eyes. "You're eyes are different... Contacts of glasses can hide it..." She stammered after a moment.

He blinked. "My...eyes?" He pulled out another tissue, and wiped the blood off of his face. He felt for what should have been a gaping wound, and found nothing. The whole thing was beginning to creep him out. Then he reached into his shirt, and pulled out his shades. He bent them back to shape, and put them on. He looked back at the Tyrant, then kicked it as hard as he could, sending it rolling slightly. "....." He stood with his back to the others. Finally he spoke. "Let's get the Hell out of here already."

Becca touched Jo's arm. "Want me to carry you sweetie?" She asked looking at Sue.

Sue shook her head. "I don't want to fall asleep..."

The dark-haired man slowly turned, and looked back at them. Without a word, he began gently prodding Sue. "I'd rather not stay here....otherwise, I won't leave, understand?" he told her quietly.

Sue nodded running to catch up with Chris and Jill.

He slowly began walking after them, not in any hurry. He looked down at his hands, then slapped his forehead. He ran back, and tore his knife free, and cleaned it off on another tissue. He twirled it around, and looked ar Rebecca. "What? Is there something on my face?"

She shook her head. "It's nothing." She went to catch up, matchin Jotaru's pace.

He twirled the knife around more, before slipping it back in his sheath. He shook his head. "I don't really know what I accomplished here today..." he said quietly.

"Oh? Saved a kid's life. That not enough?"

He shot her a sour look. "Did you happen to notice what I was doing back there at all?" he asked, still frowning slightly.

"Yeah I noticed. It's okay. Just remember around the rest of us light touches."

He glared. "Then you know that if anyone finds out, I'll end up becoming some kind of lab rat...or shot...whatever comes first..." He crossed his arms over his chest. "..This is not how I wanted to end my day...I mean, can I even die now? Am I ever going to get older? Or will I be like this until someone hunts me down and kills me?"

"Hey, I'll keep my mouth shut. I bet the others will too, so your safe for now. We'll figure out the rest when we get there."
