OK, I'm aware this may have been posted many times, but I do notice people don't take the advices to heart, at least not in my server.
So you're a lower level (under level 70) who's searching for a team after getting bored of the straightforward leveling by yourself, or you're just too lazy to try and level. Dependant on your level, you search for a team in Ape City, Desert City or the top of it all, Bird Island.
I'm going to give you an advice what NOT to do as you're bound to piss off the team captain fairly easy:
1) Spamming = Dear Lord, there's a lot of people who use this method to obtain a place in the team. The constant begging in either Whisper or Talk will get you blocked off, told off or killed. You have no idea how annoying it is to hear that pleading all over again day-by-day.
2) Invites = Whenever it's trying to force your way into a team or trying to get a high level into your team, do not try it. Especially if a high level player is without a team. If a high level player is without a team it means he/she wants to be alone. So you have no right to ask him to do something that he doesn't want to. It will get you killed at the end, whenever it's monsters or the player himself/herself.
3) Looting = so you see the team captain aren't letting you in the team, so you decide to stand on his drops to protest. Bad move *shot/slash/zap* Dead. And don't expect to be admitted anytime soon. In case you're in the team, now you think “hey, that guy is rich anyways, let me make some profit and yank anything“ and you start camping on Meteors or whatever items he/she gets as a drop. You get told to move. If you don't comply... *shot/slash/zap* Dead, please be aware our stuff isn't free, and we fight for it. Being in a team is a privilege, it’s not a right so be happy you get the levels.
4) Forbid Teams = If a team is set to Forbid, there has to be a reason. Either you annoyed the person with one of the cases stated above, or there's another reason. Maybe the team leader is waiting for someone specific, and you're in the way. Maybe the team isn't meant for anyone, but to help some friends. You name it. Don't start spamming to let you in.
5) PK mode = Now you can't get in the team, and you think you see the teammates and you start shooting/slashing/zapping at them or the captain. You end up dead easy as that. Teamed people are sure to alert the captain of it and you'll end up with your butt flying to the nearest spawn point without the need of a scroll.
Miscellaneous tips:
- Try to be polite when asking a team, not setting off at the 1st ignore. Who knows, maybe the captain is talking to someone.
- Telling your percent straight away, whenever a high level captain or a lone hunter is never wanted. Why the heck would I care what percent you're on? If I don't have a team, no amount of percent's going to change the fact I'm not doing a team especially for you.
- Telling you need a level. Do we care? Lone hunters or team captains on full, we won't quite care if you NEED a level. If you need it so bad, then instead of wasting our time scolding/killing you go level at your appropriate leveling grounds (refer to other player tips for those, I saw plenty of those).
- Don't loot; you'll never leave a good 1st impression on a team captain. (Personally I had a group following me, and one decided to loot my stuff. Instead of setting Peace and picking up what I can, I set PK by accident [Not looking, or aware] and I killed the guy. They left me alone for the rest of the week).
- Don't ask the team captain to kick someone. The one ending up kicked is going to be definitely you. Not pleasant.
Now, I'm aware not all power levelers have the same criteria, but still, try to show them some respect, because they're wasting their mana/ammo, time and duration to get you levels.
I'm pretty much aware I missed some points, but this is the most I can remember now from my vast experience as a CO Player.
