The heroine of Ranma 1/2, Akane is what one would call a tomboy, and has a strong disliking of the opposite sex.
You can imagine how she felt when her father told her that either her or her two sisters were to be married to his dearest friend's son. She was not very happy.
When Ranma Saotome first shows up to Akane's house, he's in his female form. Overjoyed, she attempts to make friends with the "girl". She takes Ranma out to the Practice Hall; where the two have a match for the fun of it.
With the grueling match, Ranma (after a small argument with Kasumi Tendo) decides that "she" will take a bath. At the same time, Nabiki Tendo is informing Akane that the bath is ready.
Akane walks into the bathroom right as the male Ranma is getting out of the tub. The two stare at one another for the longest time before Akane runs out to fetch something to attack the "pervert" with.
From there, the relationship between Ranma and Akane gets pretty iffy. At times it seems they like one another, but most of the time they snip at each other like brother and sister.
Will these two ever get married? Or will the never-ending list of suitors keep them from discovering how they truly feel about one another?
