*****UPDATED MARCH 17*****
We're having some difficulties with the trip to the anime convention in Boston. The ride will take about four hours each way. This means we will probably have to book a room for the night. The room is $140 a night, so we need a lot of people to come if we want to go. Please introduce this knowledge to your friends. Also, we are in need of someone 18 or older to book the room. Please contact Christine for more details.
*****UPDATED MARCH 11*****
The Next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, period 9, in the video production room (483).The following message is from Christina Wang, the person in charge of the anime club at this time. You may contact her at saya_685@yahoo.com.
Thanks to all the people who want to join the Japanese Animation club (a.k.a. anime club). The club has officially started since last thursday, but for those who were not able to attend I will change the day and the period that best accomodates the most people through a survey hopefully by this week. Until I receive all the votes, I will now be holding the club meetings on Wednesdays, 9th period in room 483 (yeah!! we have the video production room!!! we can watch all the anime we want!!! heheheh....)
Reminders: there will be an anime festival at the end of the year. Those who want to participate in the various contests that should (not sure yet) take place should prepare now. There will be various awards for each contest--all related to anime of course. The contests include: best anime music video (ask Mr. Collins for help); best costume design; best amateur drawing (pencil sketch and ink are two separate contests); best fanscript; karoake (yes, there will be singing... better for all of us if you have talent) and ...... mmm.... whatever you guys want to suggest! All works presented in the contests must be original and your own creation!!! All works must be related to anime (except for karoake).
For the music videos, Mr. Collins will be assisting all those people who want to learn how to make one to enter it in the contest. Dn't over do it with scenes of death, war, people killing each other (you may do one to four second scenes of it... even though we all know there are lots of anime that showcase these things...) just keep it down to earth (so we can understand it easily) and PG 13... These guidelines must be followed or I will seriously bring hell down to earth. I want this to be fun, so no illegal dealings or anything else you guys know is bad.
Another reminder: Boston anime expo. $20 bus ride, $25 admission fee, April 17-18 (spring break); whoever wants to participate please email me 2 wks prior to trip.
Send me an email about:
Your free periods, the best day for you to attend, any suggestions of other contests for anime fest, and anything you want to see during our meetings (yes... we will be watching anime during our meetings... suggest only the ones that you know we can get... for example: your friend has it, you have it, or we have it... no hentai, no gory gory gory anime such as X or angel sanctuary.. and please no incestuous animes...), and the emails of any other friends that want to join... only suggest 3 people at a time please..less work for me.
Important: don't send me junk mail because you're bored or just for fun... Only things relating to the anime club. And we need money... so devise ways for us to make money... I'll probably have people sell things during their free periods(sorry guys, but there's no other way... we're poor). Most likely we'll sell anime in the club, but I'll use that as a last resort (unless you guys really want to turn our club into a market place.)
hope to see you all at the meeting this wednesday.
-Christina Wong
P.S. If any of you guys want to find me to talk to me about the club, here's my schedule:
2nd- 303, 3rd-331, 4th-331, 5th-G-Gym, 6th-Lunch (2nd floor Science Dept), 7th-354, 8th-413, 9th-Free period (no.... I won't be staying afterschool to talk to you about how good Hikaru no Go is unless it's a club meeting (although.... it is really good), so don't find me unless it's very, very, very, important or I'll make you my slave on the day of the anime fest and make sure you'll be working too hard to enjoy it... like me.)
