Kagome hefted her bag onto her shoulder as she padded on towards Kaedes hut returning from her own time where she had just finished a difficult math test. She reached the peaceful hut and pushed open the door intruding upon a happy cozy little scene almost surely about to be ruined. Sango sat tending to Kirara's paw which she had sprained during their last excursion, Miroku sat not far away gazing longingly at the beautiful Sango, Shippo was slurping his noodles pleasantly, and Kaede was stirring the soup. As Kagome predicted Miroku had inched himself towards Sango and was sitting very close to her, he then yawned and stretched animatedly and put his arm around her shoulder. Sango looked at him out of the corner of her eye dangerously he slowly moved his hand lower and lower until...WHACK! he cringed and moved away quickly rubbing a large lump on his head. Sango was now standing and her eyebrow was twitching in an annoyed like fashion. "Kagome, ye have returned how are ye?" Kaede greeted. "I'm find thank you Kaede," she smiled warmly completely content nothing could make her unhappy at this moment not even inuyasha....**wait a second where is he?** but before she could ask a small orange puff jumped into her arms. "Kagome! your back Oh why do you always take so long why can't you stay here with us always?" Shippo cried with glee. "I've told you a thousand times Shippo I have another life besides here family and friends besides I spend most of my time here anyway," He nodded solemnly. She let him down gently and he scurried away back to his soup. "Hey Kagome," Sango greeted. Kagome dropped her bag and went to Sango, "Hows Kirara?" she asked petting her soft fur. "She's doing great she'll be up and walking in no time," Finally now that the greetings were over Kagome could ask where Inuyasha had gone. "Whe-" Kagome started. "Inuyashas in the forest having a "time out" him and Shippo were driving us insane," Miroku interrupted. Kagome laughed and stood up, "I'll go get him and tell him I'm here," she chatted happily. They all darkened except Shippo who sat innocently munching away. "What? is there something wrong?" she asked surveying them like a hawk. Miroku stood up, "Oh no! not at all just you see.." he trailed off. "See what?" she demanded...So much for her being content. "every time you go into the forest with him alone you end up having a fight or something and you go home and you've only just got back.." Sango joined. "And we don't want you to leave so soon!" Shippo chimed in catching on to what they were saying. Kagome looked at Kaede who said nothing. "Well I'll prove to you this time that we won't argue and I won't go home!" she ranted angrily. Then she turned on heal and stormed out of the hut completely annoyed. **That is not true! we don't always fight when we go into the forest...do we? No we don't because there is that one time When I told him I.... But even then I didn't really tell him...but I sort of did indirectly, But even then we weren't really in the forest we were at the well..** She erased these thoughts from her mind and changed her attitude totally and was just happy to see Inuyasha again. She walked through the trees searching for him calling out, "Inuyasha!" as she went. She walked silently even for her and wasn't really paying attention to where she was going and eventually became so entranced in the beauty of the forest that night she stopped calling his name altogether. She walked for quit some time then froze in place as a scene that pained her heart reached her eyes. She was so Shocked -though she knew she shouldn't be- she couldn't move so she stood out in the middle of the path where Inuyasha could see her though he didn't even know she was there. Kikyo and Inuyasha stood against the God Tree. Kagome too upset to really see the emotion displayed on Inuyasha's face, watched in horror. Kikyo traced his lips with her finger, "Inuyasha my love we can be together I think I've found a way for me to become human. But we'll need Kagome..." Inuyasha shivered. Kagome took this for happiness and hot tears welled up in her eyes and began to roll down her cheeks. **Why am I so surprised and shocked? she asked herself I knew when I agreed to stay with him...I know I can't brake there bond, I know he doesn't love me..but would he really give me to her so she could live? He wouldn't** she tried to convince herself this. As she did Kikyo inched closer towards him closing the space between them then she watched as they kissed and Kagome shuddered and accidentally let out a strangled sob. Kikyo pulled away and turned and glared at her, Her demons wrapped around her and began to lift her away. "Until next time my love I await your answer on my proposition, Next time keep her away I want more time with you!" she called as she disappeared. Kagome slumped to the ground and covered her face shaking uncontrollably. Inuyasha took a step towards her, "Kagome its not what it seems.." he tried to explain. "Oh but it is Inuyasha! I'm sorry for interrupting your pleasant meeting I'm sorry, I should have stayed home, I'm sorry that I'm acting this way, and I think I'm beginning to feel sorry I stayed with you! I'm just setting myself up for heartbreak and pain," She stood up refusing his help and when he reached out to touch her she flinched as if afraid. "Inuyasha you know what I wish?" she asked a little calmer than before lip trembling. "I wish that I-I didn't love you," He nearly gasped but held himself back. "But you know what I do and I can't help myself I love you Inuyasha...and I always will," The tears began to fall again. He Grabbed her wrists assertively yet gently. "Kagome," he tried to look her in the eyes but she turned away then pushed him away. "Inuyasha I'd appreciate it if you'd not mention this to the others and act as if this didn't happen," she spoke softly then ran off down the path towards Kaede's. He could have caught her easily...if he wanted too. But he thought it would be better to leave her be.

Inuyasha wandered the forest for awhile lost in thought, eventually he became so worked up he actually let a single solitary tear fall. "Kagome if only you'd understand," He remembered the scene in the forest **Oh Kagome sweet gentle Kagome, I wasn't happy there all I could think of was you while Kikyo forced herself upon me, could you not see the disgust on my face I'm sorry Oh so sorry why can't you just open up and tell her how you feel** "coward that's what I am" he muttered angrily under his breath while he mentally scolded himself. **I was a fool before blinded by my past love and afraid to love again but now I know Kikyo is not the same person she was years ago, and I've finally realized your the one I want," he breathed out slowly. The leapt up into the trees and headed towards Kaedes house.

Kagome stumbled through the trees until she reached a clearing. Here she collapsed and broke down weeping. The moonlight shone down upon the distraught girl and everything was silent all you could hear was her strangled cries of pain. "Kagome how convenient meeting you here," an icy voice called out from the darkness, Kagura stepped out of the shadows. "Why do you cry Kagome?" she asked curiously, "and where is Inuyasha?" Kagome sat up and stared at the ground. "Why should I tell you my troubles?" Kagome questioned coldly. Kagura pondered this for a moment then chuckled. "Yes I suppose you're right," Kagome looked up wiped her eyes and sniffed, "What are you doing here?" she asked. "I was searching for Shesshomaru," Kagome found this odd, "Why?" Kagura snickered "now that's just none of your business," Kagome shrugged. "Oh well it was a pleasure chatting with you," Kagura finished. A hand clamped over Kagome's mouth while a strong arm held her still. She wanted to scream, bite his hand and scream so badly. But a tiny fear in her stomach stopped her. She wasn't sure if Inuyasha would save her or take this opportunity to take her to Kikyo. She didn't want to die though that was for sure so she bit her captors hand hard as she could he yelled so loud it made Kagome's ears ring. He took both hands away and she scrambled up and was about to run when glowing eyes shined out from darkness all around she was trapped. "what's the matter Kagome aren't you going to call Inuyasha?" Kagura mocked. Kagomes eyes widened she couldn't know the problems they were having...could she? "Oh Kagome I saw Kikyo that wench and Inuyasha in the forest I knew you were watching then I saw you have you're little conversation then you run away and he stay where he was. I followed you and set up this lovely ambush and I know you won't call your dear Inuyasha because you are afraid he will give you up to Kikyo am I right?" Kagomes eyes watered **it is true...what she says** "Thats no reason I still can't fight for my life," she answered more bravely than she felt. Kagura laughed, "you! well if you insist," She whipped out her fan. "But I'm unarmed," Kagura rolled her eyes "Fine...get her a bow and arrow....your good with those right?" Kagome nodded. A bow and quiver of arrows where thrown at her feet. She picked them up hands trembling and put the quiver on her back she then took out an arrow and readied herself. Kagura yawned. "You ready?" Kagome nodded knowing she really wasn't. "Aright then Begin," Kagura waved her fan Viciously at Kagome.

Inuyasha took a deep calming breath and entered Kaedes hut. "Hey Inuyasha! where's Kagome?" Shippo asked. "Y-You mean she's not here?" he questioned nervously. "She just went into the forest a while ago to look for you she wanted to let you know she was here," Sango mentioned. Kaede was asleep in the corner. "I Know!" he snapped. "You mean you saw her?" Miroku asked. "Oh dear then she's gone home hasn't she what did you do now?" Miroku whined. Inuyasha ignored the monks complaints and dashed out the door and headed towards the forest. Leaving his three stunned friends behind.
Kagome fell hard on the ground and bit her lip tasting blood. Kagura attacked again and Kagome rolled to the side avoiding death but not injury a searing pain ran through her arm and she felt it, taking her hand away only to find it was crimson with her own blood. She rolled into a sitting position and took out an arrow. It whistled as it flew through the air striking a surprised Kaguras hand. She dropped her Fan and cried out. Kagome dived for the Fan she actually had her hand on it but then Kagura stomped on her hand working her heal into it. Kagome felt the bones shatter and she screamed in agony the tears falling freely now. Kagura ripped the arrow from her hand. "You will pay you for that you cretin," she hissed. Then whipped out a dagger hidden in her dress. Kagome stared at the weapon that would cause her demise. It had a gold hilt and a ruby encrusted in the end the blade was sparkling and words that Kagome couldn't read were inscribed in the beautiful metal. She closed her eyes and readied herself for death. Inuyasha slashed through the ambushers. "Kagome!!!" he shouted. Everything that happened after that was like slow motion. Kagura brought down the dagger striking Kagome in the chest. A blood curdling scream releasing from her body and she fell in a heap on the ground. Inuyasha felt the tears come and he could not stop them. "Kagome," he breathed. "No this is all my fault..." Kagura laughed. "Don't blame yourself dear it was her fault she didn't call for you earlier...Oh wait she was to afraid to...I apologize it was your fault wasn't it silly little dog boy," she laughed cruelly. An anger welled up inside Inuyasha he could no longer contain it.. he jerked out his Tetsiga and spun around slashing Kagura in two. It writhed on the ground then faded into dust and blew away. "demon puppet," he spat. He dropped his sword and ran to Kagome's side. He flipped her over and stared at her pale lifeless face. Tears streaked down his cheeks leaving trails through the dust. "Kagome don't leave me like this I didn't even get to tell you... that I-I I love you Kagome you mean the world to me, I was a fool before, Kikyo means nothing. How long I've wanted to hold you and never let you go but my pride always got the better of me. Kagome come back...I don't want you to leave me thinking I love Kikyo and would give you up just to be with her... I would never do such a thing...Oh Kagome..." he moaned. He felt as if a piece of his heart was missing. He felt empty. She stirred. Her eyes fluttered open. "Inuyasha?" she called weakly. "Yes Kagome its me I'm here," A small fragile smile graced her delicate lips. "You don't know how long I've wanted to hear you say those things." He smiled and lifted her gently into his arms he held her close not caring if her blood would smear over him....not caring what Kikyo thought...not caring about his pride. Finally they knew each others true feelings. She lifted her head and smiled at him. He brushed a tear away with his thumb then cupped her face and pressed his lips against hers she let go and let him take all of her. **Her lips are soft and gentle just like I imagined** He broke away letting her breath then took in her sweet scent like flowers and morning dew. She was sweet and refreshing. Kagome didn't care about her wound it was only minor the shock and emotions had just caused her faint. She couldn't even feel the pain it seemed to melt away when she was wrapped in his arms. She laid her head on his strong chest and listened to his heart beat she twirled strands of his soft silver hair on her finger. Inuyasha smiled to himself he loved this just sitting here together no one to bother them both finally and completely understanding each other. And all he thought to himself. **If only I could hold her here forever and never let her go.**
