Pisces is symbolized by the Fish. You're empathetic, openhearted and intuitive. You rely on your instincts rather than facts or logic, experiencing things almost completely subjectively. Daydreamy and creative, you prefer to go with the flow rather than fight the current.

Beauty

As a Pisces, you spend much time staring off into space, daydreaming of love and happiness. It's not necessarily all lace and butterflies, though, Pisces (though you probably had a hard time resisting those fluttery butterfly hairclips, right?). There's more to this moony and Mutable Water Sign than daydreams.

Just because you're so flexible and chameleon-like, so fluid and wistful, does NOT mean you're wishy-washy -- leave that to Libra! Within each Pisces, there lies a resolute optimism, a nearly psychic intuition and a fertile imagination that allows you to appreciate the mysteries of life.

When it comes to physical beauty, you are unconventional, a risk-taker motivated by subconscious visions and ethereal longings. Not one to follow trends, you strike out on your own in defense of your independent spirit. You loathe conformity, but despite your rebellion, people can't help but be attracted to you!

When you decide to pamper yourself, pedicures are definitely in order. They are a deserved indulgence that draw attention to your beautiful feet. Lily-tinged scents keep you in a romantic mood. Your beauty comes from your open heart, your belief in the goodness of others, your sympathetic nature and the way you never shy away from saying how you feel.

Career

The emotional, dreamy Pisces are forever trying to balance their need for accomplishment with their desire to live inside their head. Surveying the dreamscape is great fun for the visionary of the Zodiac, a kind soul whose visits to mystical netherworlds provide valuable clues on how to help people here on Earth. Although sensible, Pisceans aren't as practical as other folks and much prefer the life of artist, writer or musician -- a "rolling stone," as Bob Dylan put it. Doing what feels good is of paramount importance to the Fish, and if this occurs in the context of feeling loved and needed, all the better.

Consumed with their pursuits, Pisceans tend to feel things more intensely than most, a quality which is aided by their keen intuition. Sometimes this can be a bit overwhelming, but the idealistic Fish wouldn't have it any other way. Serving and helping others is their raison d'etre, and they enjoy sharing their empathetic tendencies along the way. Pisceans tend to be artistically blessed as well and enjoy using the world as their muse.

A desire to assist both artistic and humanitarian causes is exactly what the Fish crave. Advocating for the National Endowment for the Arts while extolling the virtues of anti-land mine campaigns would be a dream life for many a Pisces. If they could play their guitar or recite poetry at rallies, even better. The Achilles heel of Pisceans may be their tendency to dally in a dream state much too long. A reality check every now and again can be helpful.

The Pisces office is likely to be soothing, an amalgam of soft couches and velvet drapes along with a mahogany bar replete with snifters for sherry and port. When the Fish steps outside, it should be into a car with driver, since Pisceans would much rather dream than drive. The first stop will probably be a (what else?) seafood restaurant, where the Fish can meet with colleagues while enjoying a savory feast.

Pisceans are well suited as veterinarians, biologists, artists, doctors, musicians, psychologists and mediums.

Fitness

Pisces doesn't play to win. The needs of the team are going to come first for this sensitive Sign. Team spirit is important to you, especially if you manage to make connections through the team. Throwing yourself into strenuous activity is probably not your idea of a good time. Your fitness routine is likely to be a laid back one; you may prefer fishing to flexing, diving to dodgeball. Water is, of course, important to the fish, so you would do well with water polo or sailing. Fun, interactive games like foosball could also be high on your list. Watch out for your feet; you should be careful not to stub your toes or break any of the other tiny bones found there.

Fashion

The Fish likes to be able to flow in and out of clothing with ease. Most at home barefoot, in long, flowing skirts, you are most in tune with the world around you when your clothing is comfortable to the point of nonexistence. Clothes are, in fact, a social construct. You know you can't wander about naked, though, so you go to bargain stores and thrift shops to get yours. If you had it your way, you would probably go about in a bathing suit all day, throwing on a plastic bag or two when it got cold. You're flexible, though. If you buy a power suit and wear it like you mean it, you will eventually grow into it. Once you get past the hang-up of having something on your feet, you're prone to buying tons of shoes, so at least your toes can have some variety in their prison.

Moonstones are a good bet to adorn your body in strange places. Belly chains, anklets and, especially, toe rings cast a fantastical glimmer over whatever it is you're wearing. Hair that is long and tangled quickly becomes hair that is long and braided when the Fish needs a quick fix. When left in your natural state, you don't give a lot of thought to clothing. Pisces is a chameleon, however, so wherever you go and whatever you do, you never need to worry about fitting in.

Friendship

They may seem to be wandering about in their own little world sometimes, but Pisces is one of the most caring friends you'll ever have. This Water Sign has emotions to spare, so prepare yourself for long evenings of heart-to-heart talks with your Pisces pal. This friend will truly want to know the real you, and they'll probably be able to pick up on how you're feeling no matter what you tell them. They're a great friend when you're in need. If nothing else, they'll have an open ear for your troubles and a handy box of tissues for your tears. Watch out, though. Pisces can be easily manipulated, and their feelings can be hurt by the slightest misguided comment from a friend's mouth. What they need is for you, as their friend, to reassure them and help them past their insecurities. They will always be open with their emotions, so the biggest favor you can do for them is return that trust by revealing yourself. You'll never be bored with your creative Pisces buddy if you just keep an open mind and let them whisk you away into their world for a while.

Best Friends Bets: Capricorn, Taurus

Karma

Pisces is called the Poet of the Zodiac for its dreamy, impressionistic view of the world, its romantic, idealistic ways and desires. As ruled by Neptune, the Planet of Illusion, those born under the Pisces influence tend to live inside their own minds a great deal of the time and have a largely subjective point of view. Pisces is deeply emotional and intuitive, often even psychic; it is a loving, giving and rather passive Sign with a real sense of the mystical side of life. Pisces has tremendous resources of empathy and compassion for others; the trouble is, with so much trouble remaining objective, Pisces may give far too much of itself to someone who is simply playing on its sympathy. This is Pisces's first Karmic task: To erect solid boundaries as a prevention against allowing all personal energy to be drained by serving others' needs, filling up others' voids and playing into others' sob stories.

Pisces's gift of connection is both a blessing and a curse; on one hand, it is the gift that makes this Sign such a noble, nurturing friend and lover, but on the other hand it gives Pisces a certain malleability of persona that is easily taken advantage of. Others may see Pisces as a pushover or a doormat, since this Sign tends to submit so readily to another's power or point of view. Pisces may also be overly dependent on others for guidance, structure or a sense of stability. Pisces must learn to ground itself -- and this is no small task for such a deeply emotional Sign.

Pisces is so emotional, in fact, that it can tend toward depression or fatalism; the weight of the world can be too much to bear for someone so sensitive. Many Pisces turn to escapist pursuits as a result; daydreaming is one rather innocuous form of escapism and creating works of art is quite a positive form, but Neptune also rules more powerful and destructive escapist pursuits like addiction, delusion and deception. In short, Neptune rules the intangible, so Pisces must connect with the tangible in order to maintain a healthy balance.

Pisces's tendency toward depression is also based on its unwillingness to dwell in the mundane world. Things like paying bills on time, keeping appointments and maintaining a full-time job can overwhelm Pisces as they work against its basic nature. Pisces doesn't exist on a linear plane of ticking clocks and scheduled activities; this Sign is far more free-form than that. Thus, Pisces tends to be impractical, which can lead to real trouble with bosses, bill collectors and others who expect Pisces to follow their rules. It is impossible never to enter the mundane world; Pisces must learn to navigate its way safely and effectively through the maze of day-to-day experience and to set aside time in which to indulge its ethereal nature. This is a rather tall order, but need not be overly daunting; Pisces lends so much help to others, it can feel good about asking for help in return. Gemini can teach Pisces to take a less emotional, more intellectual view of people and situations; this will help Pisces decide which pleas are deserving of attention and which are merely sob stories to be ignored. Virgo can help Pisces learn to be detailed and efficient, and enthusiastic Sagittarius can help Pisces learn to turn all that abstract emotionalism into optimism and adventure.

Kids

If you're a Pisces, you like to get lost in your daydreams, don't you? Pisces is a Water Sign, which means that you are very sensitive to other peoples' feelings and to the world around you. You sense things that others don't notice, and you have the heart of a poet -- you really should write down all the little things you see throughout your day. You do well in art and any classes where you get to show off that lively imagination of yours. Even though you may know how to make words rhyme and sound beautiful, your room might be a big mess! You just have too many other things on your mind to bother making your bed in the morning.

Money

When it comes to the Fish, it pays to know which one you're getting, since there are often two (in one). Complex and changeable Pisceans are the dreamers of the Zodiac, kind and empathetic souls who are forever searching for that something more, out there, over the next rainbow. Even if they seem to have it all, the Fish will never end their quest. Exploring their spirit, both mentally and physically, is a favorite pastime of the Fish. This can be exhausting work (these folks feel intensely!); so every now and again, Pisceans will retreat to their favorite "pond" for a soothing dip. This kind of escape is restorative indeed and can give the Fish the will they need to continue the good fight.

Although the Fish may seem wishy-washy, they're actually quite good with money. It's not important to them, though -- their dreams are. Many dreams, sadly, require money if they are to become a reality, so Pisceans are often compelled to achieve financial success for the greater good. Pisceans rarely worry about money, perhaps because many of them either inherit wealth or marry into it! It's safe to say they enjoy having money around, because it helps to fund their causes. Those Pisceans who don't come across money by accident needn't worry, however, since they are blessed with mental gifts which could easily lead to a fortune of their own!

Prone as the Fish are to swimming in either direction, one never knows which Fish will splash onshore. Pisceans can be exceedingly generous, something which can lead to ill-timed extravagance. Conversely, they can indulge in irrational fears about money which lead them to extreme practicality. Flip a coin!

The Fish like to own their own home, since it provides a safe haven from the changeable world. Nimble as they are with money, they know how to stretch a buck and can make second-hand rags look like designer duds. However, they won't always be attuned to the specifics of their bank balances. "Out of money?!" the Fish will exclaim. "Oooops! I'm afraid my mind was elsewhere."

Sweet-natured Pisceans simply cannot say no when someone asks them for money, yet they'll never keep track of where the money went! Some things are forever hazy with the Fish...

Romance

The sign of the Fish rules the House of the Unconscious, which says a lot about the world that Pisceans live in. A dreamy state is very attractive to these folks, one where some delicious secrets are hidden from their lover, only to be sprung upon them at the right moment. The Fish enjoys alternating between conscious and unconscious states, the better to develop a romance in their vivid minds. When it's back to earth, Pisceans are selfless and intuitive and love to serve their lover. Showering a partner with exquisite fantasies and other sweet things becomes a blissful state for both. The emotions of the Fish run deep and can be rather erotic if their lover knows how to release them. Those born under this Water sign can flow like a river and have a sensitive and spiritual nature, which can be quite alluring.

Whoever coined the term "dream lover" must have been thinking of Pisces, for these folks often have their head in the clouds, playing with this fantasy or that. Truth be told, can there be a better place for romance? Once back to Earth, the shy Fish will pursue affairs of the heart slowly, carefully and prettily, their aesthetic sensibilities as finely tuned as any sign of the Zodiac. The magical mystery tour of romance with Pisces can be most unpredictable, with hearts and flowers one day and games with veils the next. Either way, they will definitely serve their lover, for this is something which brings them great joy. It's a seductive romance dance for the Fish, and a great one at that, for there is hardly anywhere else they'd rather be.

As with so much of Pisces' life, if love can be a dreamy state of fantasies and play, a magical tour of mind, body and soul, all the better. These spiritual folk like to combine the real and surreal, so that love with the Fish becomes a creative hyper-state where almost anything is possible. Conservatives need not apply! There is an electric quality to the Fish that makes them almost magnetic in love, although their lover may not be sure just quite what it is that is so attractive. This mysterious quality that Pisceans possess can be quite the aphrodisiac in the game of love. The Fish is an empathetic sort and loves to serve their lover. These folks also love completely, for this sacred state is about the best that life on Earth can bring. Love can be scary for the Fish, but when it's right, it's likely to transcend all limits and reach a brave new world.

Sex is an emotional affair for the Fish, as is the case with much of their lives. Pisces is a sensual and creative lover, adoring playful sex and romping through erotic fantasies. Shyness goes out the door, if it's the bedroom door we're talking about! The Fish has a great appetite for sex and loves to keep things fluid and changeable. If their lover can indulge them in flights of fancy, they'll be primed all night long. For Pisceans, love and sex as a complete union is best, the better to feel safe, free and totally uninhibited. The Fish also loves to please their lover, so this union will definitely sizzle for two. As for the sexiest kind of play, it's in the water for the wet and wild Fish.

Sun Sign

Pisces is the twelfth Sign of the Zodiac, and it is also the final Sign in the Zodiacal cycle. Hence, this Sign brings together many of the characteristics of the eleven Signs that have come before it. Pisceans, however, are happiest keeping many of these qualities under wraps. These folks are selfless, spiritual and very focused on their inner journey. They also place great weight on what they are feeling. Yes, feelings define Pisceans, and it's not uncommon for them to feel their own burdens (and joys) as well as those of others. The intuition of the Pisces-born is highly-evolved. Many people associate Pisceans with dreams and secrets, and it's a fair association, since those born under this Sign feel comfortable in an illusory world.

It's a pair of Fish that represents Pisceans, a symbol which prompts others to suggest that these people 'go with the flow' and 'don't make waves.' Both of these labels are true, since Pisceans are fluid and easy-going, in keeping with the Mutable Quality assigned to this Sign. The fact that two fish (as opposed to one) represent the members of this Sign also speaks to the duality of Pisceans, their yin and yang sensibility. Pisceans alternate between reality and non-reality in keeping with their introspective natures; their voyage between consciousness and an unconscious dream state says much about their intuitive, almost psychic natures. For this reason, Pisceans can be hard to pin down, prompting some to call them the chameleons of the Zodiac. The Fish are happy to be considered hazy, since there's a certain sense of safety in that self-proclaimed netherworld. That said, they won't stay away for long, since one of their primary goals is to help others. Pisceans are compassionate, charitable and will quickly put the needs of others ahead of their own. It's this kind of self-sacrifice which keeps these folks going. The flip side to their giving natures is that oft-timid Fish are likely to be taken advantage of by less well-meaning souls.

Technology

Public passwords are spread all around when it comes to working with Pisceans. Your easygoing attitude enhances the interactive experience for anyone involved, whether it's on or off-line. An incredible ability to sense people's feelings makes even text-based communication intriguing. You'll be able to work across all types of computers and applications. You know how to go beyond the traditional computer color of beige and spice it up without breaking down any big barriers. Guided by intuition, your initial impressions give you a gut reaction to all of the sites that you surf. You understand that sites on the Internet need to start turning a profit, but you are partial to content that is charitable.

Travel

... Pisceans tend to go with the flow when traveling, never making waves. Consequently, there must be someone else leading the way or else the Fish will never get there! Those born under this Sign are the dreamers of the Zodiac, preferring to indulge their fantasies (and secrets) in an unconscious state.
When they do awaken, their focus is on seeing how they can be of service to others. It's this quality which takes the traveling Fish to the heart of Africa or the streets of Iran. The Fish see no need to set the agenda when on the road, preferring to leave practical matters and budgetary concerns to their traveling companions. Dreamy as they are, it's essential that someone else create the structure. What the Fish care about most is that their spirit is being soothed and that they're being useful in the world. To that end, meditative treks to India or Tibet are just the ticket.

Artistic as well, Pisceans would adore the opportunity to work with potters in Mexico or to play music in the Andes of Peru. Finally, these folks love to be near water -- would Fish crave anything else? This makes them a natural for swimming, diving or sailboat excursions, the latter ideally suited to their penchant for daydreaming (someone else will be trimming those sails!).
