Carmilla

        Carmilla is a vampire who first appeared in a short story of the same name by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. It was written in 1872 and was part of the inspiration for Dracula by Bram Stoker. The story takes place is Austria.
        Carmilla was the original prototype of female (and often lesbian) vampires. Carmilla selected mostly female victims, but was emotionally attached to only a few. She was nocturnal, but could go out in the light. She also slept in a coffin.
        She could pass through solid walls and her animal alter-ego was a black cat.
        Carmilla: The Return, written in 1999 by Kyle Marffin, begins in 19th-century Austria but follows Carmilla's life into 1990s Michigan.

     In episode 10, Integra is attacked by a vampire who called herself Laura. Laura became a victim of Carmilla, when she was a guest in Laura's home. Laura's father recognizes Carmilla from a portrait of Mircalla, The Countess Karnstien. Carmilla is hunted down by Laura's father, staked, beheaded, and incinerated.
      It is unlikely that the vampire who attacked Integra is Carmilla, as she would be as powerful as Alucard (if age brings power), and would not likely be killed by one silver bullet.
      It may also be noted that 'Carmilla' is an anagram for 'Mircalla'. Sound familiar?

        The first of Alucard's two pistols. It is first used in episode 1. This is the grey gun which has 'Hellsing ARM454 Casull AUTO, HELLSING ARMS WEAPON INDUSTRIALS CO.LTD.' written on the side.

        Was also an executive producer of the English version of Escaflowne.

        Has appeared in the anime Read or Die as Yoko, and the movie The Tao of Steve as Jill.
