Thane never knew his parents. He was tossed around from home to home in his birthplace of Raven Crest. No one wanted him for the responsibilty was too much, as it is with most humans. And no one wanted to raise a bastard child, born to dishonorable parents. He spent his youth in bars, working for the barkeep, and learning the ways of corrupted men. He learned to pick-pocket drunks, which wasn't as hard as it looked, but that's how he survived those terrible years - alone without anyone to teach him discipline.
Thane trusts no one, not even himself. He takes things very seriously, especially when it involves money. If you deceive him in any way, be prepared for retribution. He doesn't know what "forgive and forget" means and he'll prove it.
