You enter what seems to be a living room. There is a black couch with its back facing the door. At either end of the couch sits an end table with a lamp, both of which are on. Forming a right angle with the couch is a large, black arm chair. In between the chair and the couch is a cherry-wood coffee table with scattered papers, notebooks, and pens. You notice the room is shaped like a hexagon with six walls. One wall contains the door you just entered through. Directly across from the front door is a window that shows a black space dotted with bright lights. To the right of that is an open doorway that seems to lead into a kitchen. Beside that is a green door with the words “Ariana’s Office”. In the corner between Ariana’s Office and the window is what looks like a large hole. On the other side of the window is a door that says “Kai’s Studio”. Next to that is a door with a sign reading “Kari’s Office”.
It is relatively peaceful in headquarters until… “Ariana! Where are you?” Kari comes storming into the room. Her black boots pound as she walks. She is wearing black slacks and a red silk blouse. Her hair is pulled back in a no-nonsense bun. You can tell by her expression that she is very irritated. “What?” Ariana whines. She walks in wearing blue overalls over a green t-shirt. She’s barefoot. Her face is smudged with green paint and there is glitter in her hair. “Why did you paint my walls pink?” Ariana blinks. “Oh well since we’re redecorating I thought it could use a facelift.” She grins. There is a moment of silence during which Kari seems to be trying to control her anger. “How many times have I told you to leave my area alone!” she finally explodes. “I don’t go into your office and rearrange everything, so stay out of mine!” With a huff she spins on her heel and storms back out of the room. Part of the couch moves and two purple eyes open. “I told you she wouldn’t like it,” says Ti. Ariana looks confused. “What are you talking about? That was her way of showing gratitude.” Ti stares at her for a moment, wondering if it’s worth a response. Deciding that no, it isn’t, he yawns and closes his eyes again. You hear approaching footsteps and soon Kai walks in. “Kai!” Ariana exclaims and bounces over to him. He is wearing an olive green sleeve-less top with matching sneakers. His white jeans are splattered with paint. He seems distracted. “Hey Ariana. Have you—oh, company.” You jump a little as no one had noticed you before now. Ariana frowns and turns to you. “What? Oh! Hi! Sorry, I didn’t realize you were here.” She laughs and puts a hand behind her head. “Figures,” mutters Ti from the couch. “Well, I lost something so I’m going to look for it before it gets lost forever.” Kai waves to you and walks back out of the room. “So, it’s just you and me,” says Ariana. “Well come in, come in!” She motions for you to come into the room. You take a cautious step inside. Ti opens one eye and nods his approval. “You must be careful with this one,” he advises. Ariana sticks her tongue at him. “Nonsense, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.” Now Ti opens both eyes and stretches from his spot on the couch. With a swish of his tail he leaps off the couch and trots over to you. You look down as he approaches. “Please do come in,” he says politely. “I’ll make sure she behaves.” Taking Ti’s guarantee to heart you follow him to where Ariana is standing with her arms crossed. “Honestly, some people.” She recovers quickly and grins at you. “So I guess you’d like a tour of the place.” You nod and her grin widens. “Great! Right now we’re standing in the common room. It connects all the other rooms of headquarters. This is where we meet to discuss site related material. It’s also where we greet visitors, like you!” She bounces out of the room and you stare after her. “Come on!” she calls. You hesitate and turn to Ti. He nods and leads you into the kitchen. Ariana is sitting on the counter eating a popsicle. She gestures for you to take one of four chairs around a small table. “This is where we reenergize after a long or difficult project. This is also where I keep my sugar stash.” You nod, suddenly understanding her energy. Suddenly she jumps up and runs out of the room, leaving no explanation. Ti sighs. “Don’t worry, you get used to it.” He hops off the table and leads you back to the common room. “Feel free to stay a while. Go ahead and look around. The doors have labels, so go wherever you please. Don’t worry about knocking.” He starts to head toward one of the doors when he stops and looks back to you. “Just one thing. Stay away from the Abyss. Only Ariana knows what’s in there and I’m not sure how long it would take for you to come back out…if you did.” With that ominous warning he disappears into another room.
