Well here he is, the man himself, Akira Toriyama. Akira was born  on  April 5th 1955 in Aichi Japan which is 200 km away from Tokyo. When he was a little boy he would draw a ton. When he wanted something very badly, he  it over and over again until he got sick of it and no longer wanted it. In 1974 he attended high school and study art. He specialized in publicity. Later he dropped out and decided to enroll into a  cartoon drawing school. After he was finished in the cartooning school he got a job at, Shueisha the larges manga publisher in Japan at that time. There he started drawing Manga professionally for the first time. In December of 1978 he published his first manga, "Wonder Island." This was part of a Manga called Shonen Weekly Jump. It didn't do very well but some manga fans enjoyed it. Soon after that he started to create a manga called Dr. Slump. This was a huge hit. Its about a crazy scientist who creates a female android. there are also some crazy neighbors to add into that mix. Finally after 8 years, Toriyama ended this manga and started Dragonball. He continued to write DB and DBZ, obviously, they were very successful and turned into an animated series'.  DB/Z lasted about 10 years and was a hugely successful. Toriyama now lives in Tokyo with his family. He has a son and a daughter, Him and his family watches DB together. He also found and adopted a cat, and also has some fish. Toriyama doesn't like bad weather, so most of his manga are set in tropical places. He also likes the country over the bi city, and that is also shown in his manga. Most of the characters in his manga live in very very small villages (besides Bulma) and in extremely isolated places. A very ironic thing is that he is afraid of mice and DB episode 54 he shows Goku putting a mouse in his mouth to save him from a collapsing tunnel.
