Chapter 4

For the next few weeks, Vegeta busied himself with his training while Bulma concentrated on her work in the lab. Vegeta had taken to eating his meals in the gravity chamber and Bulma stayed at work until late in the evening. They rarely saw one another, and when they did, they almost never spoke.

Bulma did notice that her father seemed to be warming up to Vegeta. Vegeta was forever requesting repairs and upgrades on the gravity machine and Dr. Briefs seemed more than happy to comply. Mrs. Briefs told Bulma that Dr. Briefs had introduced Vegeta to the game of football and the two of them watched games together on the weekends.

Bulma's mother kept asking her gentle questions about Yamcha. Bulma evaded these questions quite gracefully until one night when her parents had gone to a movie and saw Yamcha there with another woman. Bulma gritted her teeth and told Mrs. Briefs the whole sordid story of her breakup with Yamcha. Mrs. Briefs expressed sympathy for Bulma's pain and then reminded her that there were plenty of other fish in the sea. Bulma informed her mother that she had broken her fishing pole.

One afternoon while Bulma was working on a new robot capsule, she heard the door to the lab open. Thinking it was her mother, Bulma decided to stop any distracting conversation before it got started. "I really don't have time to talk right now, I need to concentrate. Why don't you come up to my room tonight and we'll visit," Bulma invited.

"I appreciate the invitation," Vegeta said lazily, "but I didn't come here to talk to you anyway."

Bulma almost jumped out of her skin. "Vegeta! Oh, I'm sorry...I thought you were Mother."

"Oh," Vegeta sounded almost disappointed, "does that mean you don't want me to come up to your room tonight?"

Bulma was so exasperated she turned a dark shade of maroon. "As if I'd ever invite you into my bedroom!" she snapped.

Vegeta's eyes narrowed, "Is that a challenge, Woman?" he asked lowly. "Because I don't think it would take much effort at all on my part to get you to invite me into your bedroom."

Bulma turned even redder, mostly because she knew he was right. "I don't have time for your games, Vegeta. What do you want?"

"Well, if you must know," Vegeta answered, "I'm looking for your father. The gravity chamber is not functioning properly."

"Really?" Bulma questioned "What exactly is wrong with it?"

"I don't have time to stand her and explain it to you, Woman, I have to find your father so that he can fix the damn thing," Vegeta growled. "I'm wasting valuable training time!"

"Well, Vegeta," Bulma began sweetly, "for your information, Father had to go out of town this morning because there is a problem at one of our manufacturing facilities on the coast...so if you want the damn thing fixed I'm afraid you'll have to explain it to me."

Vegeta sighed deeply and ran his hand through his unruly hair, "Whenever I go above 200 Gs the damn thing starts shaking like it's going to explode."

"200 Gs!!!" Bulma screamed, "Are you NUTS?!?"

"Well, since I have refrained from choking the life out of you for so long...I would say yes...I AM NUTS!" Vegeta screamed back. "What the hell is your problem, Woman?"

"My problem is that I only made the chamber to go up to 100 Gs," Bulma hissed, "How in the world did you get it to go to 200?"

"Your father made some minor modifications," Vegeta said sheepishly.

"Minor my ass," Bulma mumbled, "he's going to help you kill yourself."

Vegeta smirked, "I'm touched that you're concerned about my well being, but you shouldn't be. I am able to withstand well over 200 Gs. I am a Saiyan, remember?"

Bulma sighed. She knew this was an argument that she could not win. "Alright, asshole," she finally mumbled, "if you want to commit suicide, who am I to stop you."

"Whatever, Woman," Vegeta grumbled, "just fix the damn thing." He turned to leave the room.

"OK," said Bulma mischievously, "I get to work right away...as soon as you ask me nicely."

Vegeta whipped around and stared at her with narrowed eyes, "What did you say?" He challenged.

"I said I'll fix it as soon as you ask me nicely," Bulma returned, not intimidated by him in the least.

Vegeta stalked over to stand directly in front of her. His eyes narrowed to small, evil slits. "Maybe I think it would be easier to kill you than to ask you nicely," He said menacingly.

Bulma put her hands on her hips and looked him right in the eye. "Sorry, Vegeta, but that's not an option since you promised me that you would never hurt me."

Vegeta reached out and slid a hand around her neck, "No, Woman, I never made such a promise. I promised I wouldn't hurt you as long as I lived here. I could always move out, you know."

Vegeta saw the doubt and fear flash in Bulma's eyes. He felt her body stiffen beneath his hand. He smiled evilly and bent his head so that his lips were almost touching hers. "But...if I killed you, I wouldn't have anyone to fix my chamber, would I?" He asked thoughtfully.

"That's right you big bully!" Bulma said shakily. "So...ask me nicely."

"Woman, will you please fix that infernal machine?" Vegeta whispered.

"My name is Bulma, not Woman," Bulma whispered back. Her hands had involuntarily wound around his neck and she pressed close to him before she realized what she was doing.

Vegeta felt as if he were on fire. He wanted to throw her down onto the floor and make love to her. He dropped his hands to rest on her hips and drew her even closer to his body. "Fine, Bulma, I asked you nicely. Now you can either go fix the chamber now or have your brains screwed out on the floor. You're choice."

Bulma's head jerked back as if she'd been slapped. Did he have to be so vulgar? "As if I'd let you touch me!" She snapped.

Vegeta laughed, "You would...you already have," he chuckled, "Now get it fixed, Woman. As I said, I'm wasting valuable time."

Vegeta turned on his heels and walked out the door, leaving a shocked Bulma staring after him.

Bulma fixed Vegeta’s chamber for him. In fact, she improved it so that he could go to 500 Gs if he wanted, although she certainly didn't recommend it. Vegeta trained day and night. Since the incident in the lab, he always came to Bulma when he wanted a repair or an improvement...and he didn't mind waking her up in the middle of the night to do his bidding. She really didn't mind though, it gave her a chance to spend time with him.

Over time, Bulma and Vegeta developed an uneasy friendship. They no longer avoided each other, in fact, they rather enjoyed spending time together. They still argued all the time, but there was no real venom in their words anymore. There was still a lot of sexual tension between them, but they both had pushed it to the side.

One afternoon, Vegeta sat on the floor of the Gravity Chamber watching Bulma make some adjustments in the control panel. "How did you learn to fix all this stuff?" He asked her curiously.

Bulma answered him without looking up, "I don't know how to explain it. I didn't really learn it...it just seemed like I always knew how to do it, like it was natural or something."

"I know what you mean," Vegeta said. "No one ever taught me how to fight...I was just born knowing how."

Bulma finished her work and stood up and brushed herself off. "Well, that should do you ...until the next time you blow out all the circuits!"

Vegeta laughed, "Thank you, Woman."

Bulma clutched her heart as if she were having a heart attack. "I can't believe it! The arrogant, prideful, Mr. 'I'm a prince and my shit don't stink' said thank you?" she laughed.

Vegeta rolled his eyes, "Yes, I did say thank you...but you can be sure I won't say it again if that's the way you're going to act!"

Bulma laughed even harder. When she looked over at Vegeta, she could see that the corners of his mouth were twitched up in a small smile. She walked over to him and placed her hands on his shoulders. "Vegeta...I..." Bulma struggled for the rights words.

Vegeta smiled sadly and gently removed her hands from his shoulders. "I know, Woman. I feel it to," he sighed with regret. "But it can't ever happen, you have to know that."

"Yes, I guess I do," Bulma replied sadly. Her gaze dropped to study the floor, "OK, Vegeta. I understand you don't want to become involved with me, and I accept that...but...I want you to promise me something."

"What?" Vegeta asked suspiciously.

"Be careful when you’re using this chamber," Bulma said. "You could get hurt or even killed if you're not careful...and I wouldn't like that very much."

"I wouldn't like that very much either," Vegeta laughed. "I promise I'll be careful."

"Thank you," Bulma said quietly as she turned to leave Vegeta to his training.

He watched her go with regret, but he knew that he could never be bonded to her. "It's for the best." He told himself. He just wished he could get himself to believe that.

Bulma woke up in a rotten mood the next morning. She had gotten precious little sleep and the sleep that she did manage was interrupted by sensuous dreams of Vegeta. "That stupid fool!' Bulma thought to herself. "He has no idea what he is denying himself!" By the time she made her way down to breakfast, she had worked herself up into quite a huff.

"Good morning, dear," Mrs. Briefs greeted her warmly.

"I'm sure it is in some small corner of the globe," Bulma mumbled.

Vegeta laid down the paper he had been reading and looked at Bulma suspiciously. What the hell had her so pissed? He thought about reading her mind (he was quite adept at that now), but he had decided that he should respect her privacy and not invade her thoughts...especially considering the fact that she had no idea he could do that.

"Did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?" Vegeta teased.

"No," Bulma said in a sugar-sweet voice, "seeing you first thing in the morning always puts me in a rotten mood, you jerk!"

"Bulma!" Dr. Briefs admonished, "you shouldn't speak to Vegeta that way!"

"Oh sure," Bulma said, rolling her eyes, "this from the same man who called him a monster and a cold-blooded killer!"

"I said those things before I got to know him," Dr. Briefs replied in a warning tone.

Vegeta pushed his chair away from the table and stood up. "It's fine Dr. Briefs," he said, "I'm done eating anyway." He started toward the door, but turned back to look at Bulma. "I'll see you later, when you're in a better mood."

"Well then, I guess you won't be seeing me," Bulma hissed, "because I'll never be in a better mood as long as you're around."

Vegeta growled at her and stomped outside, making his way toward the gravity chamber, but Bulma wasn't going to let him get away that easy. She got up and ran after him. Dr. Briefs started to follow, but Mrs. Briefs grabbed his arm.

"Don't interfere," she said knowingly, "they are going to have to work this out on their own."

Dr. Briefs looked at her with confusion, but he let Bulma go without a word. She caught up with Vegeta halfway between the house and the gravity room.

"That's right, you big coward!" she screamed, "run away to play with your toy."

Vegeta stopped dead in his tracks and turned to face her. "I let you get away with calling me a coward once," he reminded her, "I will not let you get away with it again."

"Oh, yeah?" Bulma challenged. "And just what do you think you are going to do about it?"

In a flash, Vegeta flew over to where she was standing and picked her up. He shot off into the sky with her in his arms.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?" Bulma screamed at the top of her lungs. "PUT ME DOWN THIS INSTANT!"

Vegeta looked down into her eyes, "Woman, I want you to look down and see where you are because if you tell me to put you down again, I will...and you will drop like a rock."

Bulma decided that she'd better not tempt fate (it would be just like Vegeta to let her plunge to her death and then tell everyone that she asked for it), so she was silent for a while. Finally, after she was sure they had flown for miles she asked him, "Where are you taking me?"

"Right here looks fine," Vegeta said starting his descent.

They landed in a secluded clearing right outside a dense forest. Bulma walked away from Vegeta and examined their surroundings. It was really quite beautiful, but Bulma wasn't about to let Vegeta know that she thought so.

"OK, you jerk," Bulma said, "why the hell did you bring me out here in the middle of nowhere?"

"Maybe I brought you here to give you the sound thrashing that you deserve," Vegeta answered.

"Oh, come off it," Bulma said rolling her eyes, "if you were really going to hurt me, you would have done it a long time ago."

Vegeta was silent for a long while, he just stood staring at her.

"Well, maybe you didn't hear me the first time, so I'm going to repeat my question; WHY THE HELL DID YOU BRING ME HERE?" she screamed.

Vegeta walked up to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "I brought you here to find out why you are so damned angry with me today!"

Bulma sighed and closed her eyes. She wanted to tear into him, to tell him what a bastard she thought he was, but it was hard for her to remain angry with him when he was so close.

Vegeta sensed her inner conflict. He dropped his hands from her shoulders and took a few steps back from her. "Now, tell me Woman," he demanded.

Bulma ran her hands through her hair and tried to organize her thoughts. "I'm angry because of what you have done to me," she answered quietly.

"And just what is it that I have done to you?" Vegeta asked with surprise, "I thought I had been behaving myself quite nicely."

Bulma realized that she was going to have to tell him everything. She hated herself intensely for her weakness, but she was going to have to work it out if she was ever going to have any peace again. She walked away from Vegeta and sat down on a huge tree stump. "I'll tell you what you've done," Bulma began. "You've made me want you...so bad it hurts. I can't concentrate on anything, even my work, because I am always thinking of you. I can hardly sleep and night...and when I am asleep...I dream of you and what it would be like if you made love to me."

Vegeta raised his eyebrows. He had known she wanted him, hell it couldn't have been any clearer if she had worn a huge sign on her head, but he never thought she would admit it.

"You are angry because you want me to fuck you?" Vegeta asked.

"No, you vulgar bastard!" Bulma said angrily, "I'm angry because I want you so badly and you don't feel the same way about me!"

Vegeta burst out laughing. "My God, Woman," he said when he could finally talk, "of course I feel the same way. There have been many times that you have narrowly escaped getting thrown to the ground and having your brains screwed out!"

Bulma was confused. "Then why don't you...." she stopped when she saw the look on his face.

"Woman," he began cautiously, "starting a sexual relationship with me would be dangerous. I am not some weak human that you can lead around by the nose. I have behaved myself in your home because I have grown to like you and your family, but I am still the same man that I have always been. I will never settle down, and I would only bring you heartache."

"I don't understand, Vegeta," Bulma was crying now, "it's not like I'm asking you to marry me."

Vegeta walked over and sat beside her on the log. "I have been with many other women, but I have never bonded with anyone because I have never wanted to. You are different. If we were to start a relationship, I'm sure we would be bonded within a week."

"What are you talking about?" she was sobbing now, "what is being bonded?"

"Saiyans are not like humans," he explained, "when we mate...it is for life."

Bulma was even more confused. "But you just said that you had been with many women."

Vegeta was frustrated, "You're not listening Woman. I said I had fucked many other women. I have never bonded with anyone."

'THEN WHY CAN'T YOU JUST FUCK ME?" Bulma hollered.

"Because, there’s something different about you. Don't ask me to explain it...I can't, I just know that if I touched you I would be making a life long commitment," he answered tiredly.

"Would that really be so awful, Vegeta?" Bulma asked.

"For me...no," he answered, "but it could be devastating for you. Once I claim you, I will never let you go. You will be mine forever. I will rip apart any other man that ever comes near you."

"That doesn't sound so bad," Bulma whispered.

"There's more," Vegeta said patiently. "Being bonded is a serious thing. We will be able to read each other's thoughts and feel each other's pain. Neither of us will ever want to be with anyone else ever again. We will become addicted to each other...like a drug. Once it is done, nothing, not even death will ever break the bond. If one of us dies, the other will slowly waste away and finally die of withdrawal."

"That still doesn't sound terrible to me, Vegeta," Bulma said wistfully.

"Oh, trust me, Woman," Vegeta warned, "It would be terrible for you. You are being blinded by your lust. You seem to have forgotten who I am. There is a good reason that people call me a monster. I have killed thousands if innocent people and destroyed entire planets. Your friends would never accept our relationship."

"I don't care what anyone else thinks," Bulma said sharply, "and you're not like that anymore...you've changed."

"Yes, I have changed some," Vegeta admitted, "but I haven't changed completely. I will never allow you to tie me down. I will crush all of your romantic dreams. I refuse to be strung along by a female. I won't be a family man like Kakarrott. I will come and go as I please. If we should ever have children, even that wouldn't force me to stay with you. You would be alone most of the time, and unable to break the bond that ties you to me."

"Well," Bulma murmured, "you certainly know how to sweet talk a girl."

"I'm just giving you the facts, Woman," Vegeta smirked, "I hope you realize that I could seduce you right now and take the choice out of your hands, but I won't. If you come to me, it must be of your own free will."

Bulma leaned back and closed her eyes. He had certainly given her a lot to think about. She had always dreamed of having a wonderful family with a tender husband and a few cute kids. If she gave herself to him, she would be giving up that dream. Did she want him that much? Would having him be worth it?

Vegeta studied her as she considered her options. Part of him wanted her to just walk away. It would certainly make things easier for both of them...but there was another part that desperately wanted her to choose to be with him, even though he knew it would complicate his life.

Bulma suddenly looked up and caught him staring at her. The corners of her mouth turned up into an evil grin. "What about you, Vegeta?" she asked with a glimmer in her eye. "What would you have me choose?"

"It doesn't really matter to me, Woman. If you choose to have a relationship with me, I will take what you offer and enjoy it immensely. If you should choose to turn away, I will find another woman to relieve my frustrations."

"RELIEVE YOU FRUSTRATIONS!!!" Bulma screamed, "Is that all I am to you, a frustration?"

Vegeta glanced at her sideways, "You have caused me some frustrating moments," he laughed, "I've already told you that I feel something for you...but don't kid yourself, I'm not head over heels in love with you."

Bulma turned away from him, "I guess I need some time to think things over."

"Fine," Vegeta said, "but I'm warning you to behave yourself. One little seductive gesture and I will assume that you have made up your mind."

Bulma's eyes got huge, "What are you talking about, Vegeta?" she asked. "I've never tried to seduce you."

Vegeta raised his eyebrows, "Come off it, Woman," he growled, "Do you think I'm blind? I see your clothes, the way they barely cover you. I see the way you bend over in front of me, exposing your breasts. I know the way you find excuses to touch me when it is unnecessary. Don't make the mistake of taking me for a fool."

Bulma's face turned a deep shade of red, "I didn't think it was working. You never seemed to notice," she admitted.

"Oh," Vegeta said in a low voice, "I noticed alright."

Bulma looked into his eyes, looking for some sign that she mattered to him, even in some small way. There was nothing to see. His eyes were cold as stone. Suddenly a glimmer of an idea formed in Bulma's head. If she could get him to touch her...to kiss her, maybe she could tell how he really felt.

"Vegeta," she began timidly, "I have an important decision to make...but I don't have all the information that I need. I mean, how am I supposed to know if I want to choose you when you haven't even ever kissed me. How am I supposed to know how it feels..."

Bulma's words were cut off by Vegeta's mouth. He kissed her with more passion that she had thought was possible. His lips ground against hers in an intoxicating rhythm. Bulma wound her arms around his neck and she pressed her body tightly against him.

Vegeta grinned against her mouth as he felt her reaction to him. He wrapped one arm around her waist and used the other hand tangle in her hair and pull her head back to give him better access to her mouth.

Bulma moaned and opened her mouth against his. He slid his tongue into her mouth and she felt like she had been shocked by lightening. She closed her eyes and allowed herself to get lost in the feeling he was giving her.

Vegeta explored her mouth with his tongue. He had never tasted anything so sweet in his entire life. He removed his hand from her hair and used it to unbutton her shirt. When his hand slid inside and found one of her breasts, Bulma gasped and arched toward him. He smiled and caressed her breast through the material of her bra. He broke the kiss and Bulma cried out in protest, until she felt his hot mouth on her other breast. The sensation was so good that Bulma screamed out his name. He undid the clasp at the front of her bra and freed her breasts. He sat back and examined them. They were huge and perfectly rounded. He bent down and circled a nipple with his tongue. Bulma cried out again as he took the entire nipple into his mouth and sucked vigorously. He continued to massage the other breast with his hand. He slid the other hand down to the hem of her shorts and rubbed her thigh. Suddenly she felt him creep inside of the short leg and dive underneath her underwear.

Vegeta began rubbing her pussy lips with his fingers. Bulma tried to sit up, but he pushed her back down. While his mouth and one hand played with her breasts, the other hand stroked her most private part. He found her clit with one of his fingers. He began to rub it, flicking it back and forth relentlessly. Bulma squirmed under him and opened her legs as wide as she could. He smirked against her breasts as Bulma panted and moaned beneath him. He dipped two of his fingers into her pussy and used his thumb to continue to play with her clit. He sat up and began to move his fingers in and out of her, mimicking the motions of a penis. He brought his other hand down and used it to continue rubbing her clit and the inside of her lips.

Bulma couldn't believe what he was doing to her. In all the time she had been with Yamcha, he had never done anything like this. She was on fire...she felt like she was going to burst from pleasure.

Vegeta studied her as she thrashed around beneath his hands. He knew she was almost ready to cum...and it had taken very little effort on his part. He resisted the urge to replace his hands with his mouth...after all...he was only supposed to be giving her a small demonstration of how sex would be with him. He considered stopping fingering her before she came, but he dismissed the idea. He wanted to watch her get lost in her orgasm...and so far, she had put on quite a show.

Bulma was lost in sensation. She bucked her hips wildly against his hands. She could feel the tension building within her and she knew she was about to loose it. Vegeta stroked her relentlessly. Bulma's head thrashed from one side to the other and her hips moved wildly against his hands. She felt the pleasure build and build, she began to call out his name over and over again. Finally, she came in one gigantic, pleasure filled explosion.

Vegeta watched her with hooded eyes as she climaxed. He couldn't help but smirk at what his hands had wrought. Her face was damp and her face flushed. Her chest moved in and out deeply as she struggled to breathe. When she finally opened her eyes and looked at him, they were full of tears. Vegeta brought his hands up to his mouth and licked off her juices, then he bent down and kissed her deeply, letting her taste herself.

When Vegeta finally broke the kiss, he gently helped Bulma straighten her clothes. When she was in one piece again, he got up and walked away from her, toward the edge of the forest.

"Well," he asked snidely, "do you have all the information you need now?"

Bulma sat up shakily, "Yes," she said timidly, "I'd say so."

"Fine," he said, "then we'd better get back home...but remember, the next time you come near me, you'd better make sure your mind is made up."

"I won't forget, Vegeta," she said quietly.

He looked at her hard for a few minutes, like he was struggling to think of something to say. Finally he walked up to her, picked her up, and blasted off into the sky. Bulma closed her eyes and snuggled against him as they flew, wishing that they could stay like that forever. Her dream was shattered by harsh reality when he landed in front of her lab, deposited her on the ground, and walked away without a word.
