Chapter Eight

Bulma slammed the front door shut and threw her purse down in a Chair. She’d had the mother of all rotten days. She’d spent the last four hours in a stuffy conference room with a pack of rabid lawyers. A rival company was suing Capsule Corp. for patent infringement and Bulma was trying to work out a settlement. Bulma had haggled for hours with no results. She finally got up and stalked out of the meeting, informing the opposing counsel that he could stick his lawsuit up his ass and twist it around.

She drew in an angry breath as she looked out the window and saw that the light in the gravity room was still on. She didn’t have the slightest clue what was wrong with Vegeta, but whatever it was, it looked like she wasn’t going to find out about it tonight.

At least she didn’t have to deal with her loving children tonight. Trunks had called her at the office and informed her that he was taking Bra to the circus. She was grateful that at least she didn’t have to cook dinner tonight. She was too tired to even stand up, much less cook enough food for three ravenous Saiyans.

Bulma groaned loudly when the phone rang. She really didn’t feel like talking to anyone. Maybe if she just ignored it... no she could do that... not when the kids were out on the town. It could be one of them needing something. She sighed again and picked up the phone.

“Hello,” Bulma said tiredly.

“Oh, Bulma,” Chi Chi’s voice floated from the other end of the line. “I have the most wonderful thing to share with you!”

“What is it?” Bulma asked, trying to sound like she cared.

“Something happened to tonight with Goku. He came home and made love to me so passionately... I know I should be embarrassed to be talking about this, but I’m just so happy and I wanted to share it with someone!”

“That’s wonderful, Chi Chi,” Bulma said, trying desperately to get the mental picture of Goku and Chi Chi going at it out of her head.

“Oh, it is more than wonderful!” Chi Chi gushed. “I don’t know what’s gotten in to him, but Bulma, he made love to me in all the ways I’ve always dreamed of. It was incredible. I finally realize what you’ve been enjoying with Vegeta for all of these years.”

Bulma bit back the bitter reply that she hadn’t “enjoyed” Vegeta for quite some time. “I’m very happy for you, Chi Chi.”

“I knew you would be,” Chi Chi said. Bulma could almost hear the smile in her friend’s voice. “I have to go. Goku said he was only stopping because he needed to eat. He said he was going to come and get me when he was finished. Oh, Bulma,” Chi Chi sighed, “I’ve never felt so fulfilled in my life.”

“Well, I’m glad to hear it,” Bulma choked out.

“I’ve got to go,” Chi Chi said hurriedly, “Goku’s calling me. I’ll call you tomorrow.”

“I can’t wait,” Bulma muttered as she hung up the phone. She didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. Oh well, she thought to herself as she tiredly climbed the stairs, at least somebody was feeling fulfilled.

She opened the door to her bedroom and switched on the light. She saw it almost as soon as her eyes adjusted to the bright light. She gasped loudly as she walked over to the chair to take a closer look. There, draped across the chair was the most beautiful evening gown she had ever laid eyes on. It was a pale shade of blue. In fact, the color of the gown matched the color of her hair perfectly. She sighed as she felt of the fabric... pure silk. The low cut bodice was sprinkled with tiny sequins.

Where has it come from? She wondered. Had her mother been shopping? Just then, an object on the bed caught her attention. She clutched the dress tightly to her chest as she walked over to inspect it. It was a single red rose. Bulma reached out hesitantly and picked it up. She noticed the envelope lying beneath it for the first time. She carefully spread the gown out on the bed and picked up the envelope. She opened it carefully and pulled out the single piece if paper that it contained. On that paper, written in Vegeta’s bold, slanting handwriting, were two words: Gravity Room.

Bulma squealed in pleasure as she ran into the bathroom. She tore the clothes off of her body and jumped in the shower. She needed to get herself fixed up. She wanted to be quick, but she also wanted to take enough time to make sure she looked beautiful. She couldn’t wait to find out what was waiting for her in the gravity room.

An hour later, Bulma opened the door of the gravity room and almost passed out at the sight that greeted her eyes. The room was lit with dozens of candles and there was a table in the middle of the floor filled with beautiful flowers and delicious looking food. There was soft, romantic music playing in the background.

“I was beginning to think you weren’t coming,” a deep voice said from the shadows.

Bulma spun around in the direction of the voice. “Vegeta,” she said in a breathless voice. He looked incredibly handsome. She hadn’t seen in a tux since their wedding day. “Did you do all of this?”

“No,” he said, walking toward her. “The romance fairy showed up and waved her magic wand.”

Bulma smiled in spite of herself. “How?”

“The boy helped,” he said as he pulled out a chair for her to sit in. “You look beautiful. I’m glad the garment fits properly.”

“You picked this out?” she asked in amazement.

“Yes, I had to look in your closet to see what size you needed. I almost got lost in there.” He sat down in the chair across from hers and poured her a glass of wine. “Let’s eat this before it gets cold.”

Bulma couldn’t believe what was happening. She kept casting curious looks in his direction all during dinner, but if he noticed, he didn’t let on. Once they’d finished their meal, he stood up and held his hand out to her. “Care to dance?”

Bulma smiled radiantly as she took his hand and let her pull her out of her chair and into his arms. She sighed contently as she snuggled against him while they swayed to the music. “You’re a wonderful dancer, Vegeta,” she said quietly. “It’s a shame we don’t dance more often.”

“Don’t hold your breath,” he muttered against her hair. Bulma sighed and laid her head on his shoulder. She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and pushed her body up against his. Vegeta groaned at the fell of her body pressed against his. “Woman,” he whispered lowly, “I hate to cut this short...”

Bulma silenced him with her mouth. She slid her tongue into his mouth and used it to stroke him slowly. Vegeta shuddered and dropped his hands down to slowly caress her buttocks. “I need you,” Bulma moaned when she finally released his mouth.

Vegeta chuckled as he lifted her up in his arms and carried her across the room. He laid her down on top of a pile of pillows and blankets that he had placed in the corner of the room earlier. He reached around her and slid the zipper on her dress down slowly, gasping with surprise as he pulled it off of her and discovered that she wore absolutely nothing underneath. Bulma smiled smugly at the look of lust in his eyes. Vegeta caught the look and laughed lowly. “I think you were so excited that you forgot to finish dressing.”

“I didn’t forget anything,” Bulma said, reaching up to pull his mouth back down to hers. “Please, Vegeta,” she panted against his mouth.

“Well, let’s see,” he said sexily. “I’ve wined you, and I’ve dined you, I guess all that’s left to do is to sixty-nine you.”

Bulma instantly became stiff in his arms. She felt the wave of nausea wash over her body. He’d heard her...that explained why...

She reached up and pushed against his chest with all her might. “You heard me!” she said in a mortified voice.

“Yes,” he admitted roughly. “We all hear it... all of it.”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” she said with wide eyes, sliding away from him.

Vegeta looked at her in confusion. “What the hell’s wrong with you?” he asked, flabbergasted by her behavior. “I’m the one that should be pissed off!”

“Yes, you should be,” she said in a teary voice. “I don’t want it this way, Vegeta. You can take your guilt, or your pity, or whatever it is and shove it. I don’t want it this way.”

Vegeta watched in shock as she wrapped a blanket around her bare body and walked toward the door. She was nuts! A certifiable lunatic! Why in the name of Dende did he even bother to put up with her shit?
