In the words of Babidi: "A Super what that surpasses a Super which now?" In order to clear up this confusion over Saiyans about who follows what becoming a whatever, here’s a little help with the levels of the almighty Saiyan. The Saiyan: A Saiyan is a strong fighters whose origins are from the Planet Vegeta. Saiyans are known for their strength, as well as their tails and their ability to increase their power with every battle. Also all Saiyans have black hair that does not change or grow from the time they are born. The Saiyans go from planet to planet selecting those that are to be sold, and clearing them out, or occasionally, destroying them if the planet is not worth selling. However when Frieza blew the Planet Vegeta up due to a fear of being overthrown by a Super Saiyan, most of the Saiyans were destroyed, but a few escaped. These Saiyans were Goku and his older brother Raditz, the commander of the Saiyan military Nappa, the legendary Super Saiyan Brolly and his father Parugus, as well as the prince Vegeta were the sole survivors of this disaster. Half-Saiyan: Half-Saiyans are the children of the Saiyans Goku and Vegeta. Half-Saiyans sometimes show extreme power and the ability to transform into Super Saiyans at a young age. The half-Saiyans are Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Bra. Part-Saiyans: A part-Saiyan is someone with a Saiyan heritage. Not quite as strong as a half-Saiyan or a full blooded Saiyan, part-Saiyans can transform, but are not capable of very high levels of power. Part-Saiyans include Pan and Goku Jr.* *Goku Jr. is not Goten. Goku Jr. is the grandson of Pan, and is seen in the only GT movie. Oozaru: The Oozaru, or giant ape monkey, is the result of when a Saiyan who has their tail intact, sees a full moon. This transformation increases the Saiyans original power by ten times their normal power level, making a normally strong Saiyan turn into powerhouse of an ape that is virtually unstoppable. It is known that as the Saiyans used this transformed state as they cleared out various planets for sale, but since the planet Vegeta’s destruction, the only Saiyans known to go Oozaru are Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and Brolly. Super Saiyan: A Super Saiyan is a Saiyan that has meet three requirements: -They have to have a pure heart -An extreme amount of rage -A fairly high power level and no tail. When each of these requirements is fulfilled, then an incredible transformation occurs. During this transformation, the Saiyan’s hair turns bright yellow, the eyes turn teal, and the Saiyan is covered with a golden glow. The Saiyan experiences an extreme amount of pain, followed by an incredible increase in power, speed, techniques, and ability. After the first transformation, it becomes more natural and less painful. Over time and with training a Super Saiyan can get even stronger, and could possible double their strength. The status of Super Saiyan originally was hard to obtain, and few ever did. But after the destruction of Planet Vegeta, the two Saiyans Goku and Vegeta were able to attain this status, and eventually so did their children, making it an easy thing to do. So far, those that have attained the status of Super Saiyan are Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Brolly, Trunks, and Goten. Super Saiyan 2: This level can be attain two ways: by an extremely insane amounts of training, or by an extremely high amount of power, that was previously dormant, being brought to the surface, naturally or otherwise. Super Saiyan 2 increases the Saiyans power immensely, making them much stronger than before. Also, the Saiyans becomes faster and stronger if needed. There is not much of a change in appearance from Super Saiyan to Super Saiyan 2 like there is from Saiyan to Super Saiyan. The hair becomes a little longer and straighter, and the muscles are more compact, and don’t really bulge out very much thus giving the Saiyan more grace and agility. Those that have attain this level are Gohan, Majin Vegeta, Goku when he was fighting Majin Vegeta, this first time Goku and Vegeta fused into Gogeta, and the second time Goku and Vegeta fused into Vegetto. Mystic Super Saiyan 2: Little is known about the Mystic Super Saiyan 2. Mentioned during the Majin Buu saga, it has been said to be unattainable, and that if you become one, you cannot become a Super Saiyan again, only a Mystic Super Saiyan 2. It has also been said that a Mystic Super Saiyan 2 has an eerie glow about him. However, none of this is known for sure, because there has never been a Mystic Super Saiyan 2 sighting, and so no one knows what one looks like. Gohan did try to reach it, but failed, and so far, no one else has been able to reach this level. Super Saiyan 3: The new increase in power brought by this level increases the Saiyan’s strength, however it does not increase the Saiyans strengths as much as the change from Super Saiyan to Super Saiyan 2 did. To attain this level, and unbelievable amount of power and anger is required, and is very difficult to reach, resulting in very few ever doing so. This is considered to be the last form of a true Super Saiyan, but it is not the last stage of Saiyan, nor is it the strongest. While this change in power is not as impressive, the change in appearance of the Saiyan is. The Saiyan’s hair grows until it almost reaches the knees and the Saiyan’s eyebrows disappear. Due to the fact that this stage is very hard to attain, the only Saiyans known to reach this level are Goku during his fight with Majin Buu, and Gotenks. Super Saiyan 4: The last form of Saiyan is the strongest, but is not considered to be a true Super Saiyan, but more of a cross between a Super Saiyan and an Oozaru. The strength of the Saiyan in this stage is increased again, and is truly unfathomable, but in this stage, the Saiyan loses all emotion and becomes very cruel, no matter what their normal nature may be. To obtain this stage, the Saiyan MUST have his tail intact, or else this form won’t be able to be reached. In order to full-fill that requirement, Bulma invents a gizmo called the Brute Ray which allows the tail to grow back. The appearance of this Saiyan is something of a cross between a Super Saiyan 3 and an Oozaru. The Saiyan’s hair returns to its natural hair color, and it grows a little longer, resulting in hair similar to that of a Super Saiyan 3. However the rest of the of the body is covered with a thick, dark red fur, and the chest is extended to show off the Saiyan’s muscles. Also, the Saiyan wears no shirt, only a paints and shoes, and this stage has only been seen in Dragonball GT. There have been only two Saiyans known to reach this stage, and those two are Goku and Vegeta. Super Saiyan 5: There is no stage known that exceeds Super Saiyan 4. Super Saiyan 5 does not exist, nor does any other stage. Super Saiyan 5 was created by a fan who wished to create his own Saiyan stage, and the picture of a Super Saiyan 5 was actually a picture of Super Saiyan 3 Goku that was scanned and edited with a special paint program, and thus is not an true official DBZ picture. As the Saiyans fight, they become stronger. And then if necessary, they will transform into Super Saiyans and become even stronger. There is no known limit so far to the Saiyans strength, and only time will tell for now… |
