NAME: Hibiki Tokai |
NAME: Dita Liebely |
Dita is the most jovial person on board the Nirvana. Even when the going is tough, her eternal smile never falters and she always cheers everyone up when the everyone is feeling down. |
Meia is perhaps the most enigmatic (and therefore most popular!) character in Vandread. Her emotionless-ness, determination and self-tortured behaviour is all the product of a bad childhood: She was, at first, happy with her family but this fell away as she lost all her family in "an incident". Consequently, she shut herself off the rest of the world. Since then, she's avoided contact with other humans, been unable to determine the difference between strength and weakness, and possessed a distrust for technology (in fact, that head ornament is from "the incident" - She wears it like a guilty conscious.). Eventually she was picked up by Magno and has been living a pirates life ever since. She does her job, as leader of the Dread fighters, well and carries an extreme hatred for men. Eventually, however, she manages to establish a bond with Hibiki and they both end up becoming the best of friends. Want to go back up? |
NAME: Jura Basil Elden |
Jura is Meia's deputy in leading the Dreads into battle. And as well as being a Dread pilot, Jura is also rather skilled in the art of swordplay. |
NAME: Duero McFile |
When Duero was on Taraaku he was a First class citizen, fresh from graduating at the military academy and ready to serve as a military doctor on the Ikazuchi. However when the Ikazuchi was attacked, Duero was taken as a prisoner - That is, until he convinced the women that he was a doctor and therefore a vital asset to their cause. Although he may seem cold and calculating at times, he does, however, do his job well and is quite capable of thinking quickly in a crisis situation. What's more, he also seems to develop feelings for Parfet...
NAME: Bart Garsus |
Like Duero, Bart was facing a new career on board the Ikazuchi - in the gallery. But then the Ikazuchi was attacked and Bart, being a coward by nature, fled into hiding. He was later recovered following the Praxis explosion and explained (lied) to the Boss that he was the pilot of the Ikazuchi. And, thanks to the effects of the praxis explosion, Bart found himself linked to the ship itself and the only one capable of controlling ship's power! Unfortunately for Bart, life on board the Nirvana isn't easy: He's arrogance and cowardly behaviour isn't tolerated lightly by the women and he's romantic advances onto Buzam don't really work out. But in spite of it all, Bart does possess a high sense of honour and
responsibility. |
NAME: Barnette Orangello |
Like Jura, Dita and Meia, Barnette is a Dread pilot. She is quite stubborn and holds a very poor tolerance level for men - and as a consequence she tends to wind up in a lot of situations of conflict with Hibiki. Barnette is also Jura's inseparable friend and she holds a fetish for antiqued firearms.
NAME: Parfet Balblair |
Parfet is the chief engineer in the women pirates. Because of her job, she contains the peculiar belief that anything that moves is alive. Thus she treats the ship as a living being. She also holds feelings for Duero - even though she is puzzled by these feelings and, as a consequence, handling them in an awkward manner.
NAME: Magno Vivian (The Boss) |
As the nickname suggests, Magno is the leader of the pirates. Her move into piracy came after she had lost her home and everything back on Mejarru. This left Magno with a will to survive and so she left Mejarru to roam the stars. Consequently she is very committed to her cause and interested in the welfare of her crew - as well as providing vital insights and wisdom.
NAME: Buzam A. Calessa |
BC is Magno's lieutenant as well her bodyguard. She is a master tactician - Yet no amount of battle planning can allow her to escape being bothered by Bart and his romantic advances. But BC has no time for the cowardly pilot - You see, BC has her own secret agenda......
NAME: Gascogne Rheigau |
Next in command after BC, Gasco is in charge of maintenance and supplies. She often accompanies the Dreads into battle with a supply ship. She does her job well and is always encouraging others to smile (even though she gets annoyed at being referred to as 'Gasco'). She is also on hand to guide Hibiki through life - in her own unique way - And she never, EVER looses at cards! ^_^
NAME: Paiway Underberg |
Paiway is perhaps the most unusual character on the Nirvana. She spends most of her time invading other people's privacy with notebook and camera making "Pai'check's!" Her methods of communication is also bizarre: When engaged in conversation, she will frequently say a few sentences via her frog puppet (each sentence having 'kero!' (ribbit) at the end). Aside from this, Pai serves as a nurse on board the Nirvana and helps out Duero. She is also quite annoyed that Dita, someone whom she held a close connection with, spends far too much time with Hibiki. |
NAME: Pyoro |
Pyoro is the only Navy unit left on the Ikazuchi that remains functional - Even though it was severely damaged in the pirate's attack. Curiously, due to the malfunction, Pyoro has achieved something unique among machines: the development of feelings(!). Pyoro, along with Hibiki, Duero and Bart, is integrated into the pirates. And it is there that he becomes something of a mediator between everyone (?!?!). Pyoro is often found subjected to Parfet's various experiments - much to his annoyance. |
NAME: Ezra Vieil |
Ezra is one of four pirates stationed at the Nirvana's bridge. She operates the communication's desk. However, at the beginning of First Stage she develops peculiar sensations within her stomach - This however is revealed as pregnancy!
NAME: Amarone Slaintheav |
Amarone is one of four pirates who keep all bridge operations running smoothly.
NAME: Belvedere Coco |
Belvedere is one of four bridge operators on board the Nirvana. |
NAME: Celtic Midori |
Along with Ezra, Amarone and Belvedere, Celtic's place on the Nirvana is on the bridge. Yet she is most oddest out of the four: She does her job dressed up in some unusual costume (in fact, she has a whole wardrobe full of them!) - She is mostly seen dressed in a teddy bear outfit.
NAME: Misty Cornwell
Misty is a later addition to the Nirvana - She shows up in the beginning of Second Stage. Misty is found floating in space within the confines of a capsule. She is recovered and is instantly smitten by Hibiki - due to the fact that he's the first one she sees. She later spends much of the Second Stage chasing after him - Much to Dita's annoyance. In time Misty then tries to chat up Meia (?!) as well as eventually getting on everyone's nerves. Aside from this she doesn't really seem to contribute much to the functioning of the Nirvana. |
