"Happy birthday little bunny!" "Thank you! How do I look, Luna?" The six year old Serena did a spin and let her dress flair out. "Oh Serenity, you look absolutely angelic. Your mother will be so pleased." "Oh Luna, please don't call me Serenity, I like Serena so much better. Save Serenity for when we're at balls and stuff. Ok?" "All right. Are you excited? You get to see Prince James and Prince Endymion today!" "Must Endymion come? I really hate that guy. I'd much rather be with my James! He's so wonderful, and someday, I'll be his bride." "Indeed, you will." Serena fell on to her bed and gave a sigh.

Later in the afternoon, people from all different planets began to arrive for Serena's birthday party, including her friends. Princess Amy of Mercury, Princess Ray from Mars, Princess Lita from Jupiter and Princess Mina from Venus were all there. The last to arrive were the Earth royals. King Endymion, his wife Queen Regala and the two boys walked off of their shuttle and went into the Moon Palace where they were greeted by Queen Serenity and Princess Serena. Serena was forced to painfully allow Prince Endymion to kiss her hand.

When all of the guests had gone inside, Serena turned to her mother and said, "Mother, I think my smile is stuck on my face!" Queen Serenity laughed slightly. "Oh Serena, that's what politics is all about!" "Why does my birthday always end up being a political event with presents?" "That's not what it's about at all my darling! We're here to celebrate the glory that is you. Now come on, we must go inside."

The little princess and her mother walked in the room and the crowd of people began to cheer. When they stopped, Serena saw a sight for sore eyes. "Yay! Uncle Tinugio! You made it!" she said as she ran into his embrace. He'd been like a father to Serena, and made her forget the pain of her real father being dead. Tinugio felt it was his duty as King Eternity's friend to watch over his wife and daughter. "My little birthday girl! Are you enjoying yourself?" "Very much Uncle Tinugio! I can't wait until I get a chance to speak to James!"

James looked over at his radiant princess. Though she was only six and he was ten, with her beautiful blonde hair done up in the pigtails her mother had, Serena was just as beautiful as any adult woman he'd seen. She was so innocent, it made her more attractive. He walked over to her and took her hand. "Happy birthday angel!" he said. "JAMES!" Serena said as she flung herself into his arms. "I missed you so much my darling James, I'm so glad to see you." "I'm glad to see you, too! Let's go talk. I'll push you on the swing." "Ok! I'll see you later Uncle Tinugio!" With that, the two walked to the swing where James pushed Serena.

"Isn't that the cutest thing you've ever seen?" Queen Serenity asked Tinugio. "Yes," he replied. "They really are cute together. However, I don't think they're really good together." Queen Serenity looked at him perplexed. "What do you mean?" she asked. "Well," said Tinugio. "I really think there is something wrong about them being together. I don't know what it is, but I have a bad feeling." These words haunted Queen Serenity's mind, but she tried to shake them off and continued to make her daughter's birthday a good one.

"Oh James, I wish you didn't have to go to Earth all the time, I get lonely here without a kid to talk to. The only one here I can really talk to is Luna." said Serena. "Well, you know I have to go. I am in training to become the king of Earth. Our population is the largest in the galaxy, I must learn what to do." "I guess so, do you think of me?" asked Serena giving a puppy face. "Of course I do!" James replied. Just then, Serena flew off of the swing and hit the ground hard, followed by the laughter of Endymion, Jr. Serena stood up, walked over to Endymion and smacked him as hard as her little hand could. He backed up slightly rubbing his cheek and an argument broke out! James broke them up and Serena walked off in a huff.

"I'd better go to her." said James. "Endymion, really that was so mean! Don't put another hand on my fiancé. Do you understand?" "Yes, whatever James." James was about to follow after Serena when Endymion grabbed his hand. "Maybe you should let her talk to her friends. They look fine by themselves. I think you might be smothering her." James smiled looking at Serena. "Ok, I'll let her have some time with her friends." he said.

"I think that your dress is the best one here Serena!" said Mina as she gave her friend a birthday hug. "Happy birthday! We missed you so much!" "I missed you, too." said Serena. "One of these days, I'll get the chance to visit your kingdoms." Just as the young girls rejoiced in a group hug, a black cloud fell over them. Towering above their heads was Senator Frank Toneil.

"Hello ladies," he said slowly. "Are you enjoying the party?" "We were!" said Serena sarcastically. "Stop trying to copy Uncle Tinugio and get a new hobby." Senator Toneil squinted his eyes at the princess, grabbed her arm and said, "Excuse us ladies, Serena and I need to have a little chat!" Toneil violently dragged Serena to the side of the lake where there were no other people.

"Listen you little brat," he said to her quietly while gritting his teeth. "You will behave today, and you will not embarrass me, do you understand?" Serena looked at him blankly. "You are not my father." she said. "Your father?" he said, his eyes wide. "I AM GOD!" he shouted. Toneil then looked around cautiously to make sure that no one had heard him. He was terrified, however, to see that Prince James had heard him and was walking toward them looking very angry.

"Senator Toneil," James said taking Serena's hand and freeing her from Toneil's grasp. "I thought you and General Tinugio had this discussion last month. I believe it's time you left. You are not wanted here." Toneil gave a foul look at both the children and said, "Someday, my name will ring out throughout the entire galaxy, and you two brats will be at MY mercy." He walked away flinging his cloak back.

"There's something not right about that guy. Too bad he's in mommy's senate thingy, if he wasn't I would SO tell on him!" said Serena. James saw Endymion holding his side, so he ran to his brother and Serena followed.

"Endymion, what's wrong?" he asked. Endymion winced for a second and then said, "I have a weird feeling whenever I see that guy. I don't know what it is, but whenever I see him, I feel like the princess isn't safe." This shocked all of them becasue Endymion and Serena despised each other. "Endymion," said Serena. "Get a life!" She walked off and suddenly Endymion fell to his knees in pain.

"Endymion?" said James, who was now very concerned. "James," he replied. "She's the most annoying girl that I've ever met, but she does something to me, I don't know what it is. Ever since the first time we had an encounter with Senator Toneil, I've felt that Princess Serenity isn't safe." This bothered James quite a bit. 'Why aren't I feeling anything if Serena's in danger?' he thought. 'I'd better watch these two more carefully, they're getting much too close!'
