She watched him as he stood alone on the river bank, lost in an ankle deep swirl of grey mist. Soon the sun would rise and burn off the fog, but for now, he was beautiful in her eyes. His ebon locks hanging down his back, eyes a soft blue. So much different than the Inuyasha that she knew on a much more regular basis. From the first time that she had lain eyes on the Hanyou in his human form, Kagome had fallen in love, not that she hadn't been attracted to him in the first place, but.. this human side gave him a more approachable form.
"Hey! Kagome! Why are you staring at me like that? It's really starting to creep me out!" He hunched his shoulders, narrowing his eyes before turning his face once more back to the calm river before him.
Well, at least his personality didn't suffer the new moon. Just a few more hours and he would be back to his normal dog-like self. She rested her chin in her palm, tilting her head as she watched him. "Ne, Inuyasha?" Her voice carried lightly to the river bank, to his back. It bothered her that he kept his back to her more than often.
"Nande yo." He responded in a dry manner. Sitting down, the hanyou pulled off the outer robe of his fire rat Kimono and placing it on the ground beside of him. After a few moments of silence, he turned his head to gaze at the human girl sitting off behind him and to his left. Giving a light grunt and a narrowing of his eye, he rose, moving towards her. "What?" He barely restrained a snap.
Kagome jerked, then waved her hand at him, a light smile on her face as if she thought Inuyasha foolish. His face darkened when he whitnessed that expression.
"What?"
"Oh, it's nothing, nevermind, Inuyasha. I'm sorry that I brought it up."
"What!?
"Inuyasha, please don't yell at me." Kagome said calmly as she pulled her backpack into her lap. "Would you like to go to my time for a while? You wouldn't clash with humans so much, and at least you can't disrupt traffic... this time." She lifted her head, smiling brightly before a massive blush errupted onto her face. While she had distracted herself with looking for a snack, he had finished undressing. Gasping, she stumbled apon her knees to dash behind a tree. "You.. you're naked!"
"I'm planning to bathe." He responded in a clipped voice, eyes shining with amusement at the reaction that his bare body had gotten from the girl. //So modest.// He chuckled to himself as he turned, heading back towards the river.
"That was mean!" Kagome peeked around the trunk of the tree, watching the human form of her friend as he sank to his shoulders in the warm, swirling water, his face barely recognizable from the thick mist that floated like earth bound clouds over the waters surface.
"Well, if it didn't bother you so much, I would tell you to join me." He replied snidely, very much enjoying the angry expression that
rolled across her face like a storm cloud. "Heh. You're almost cute when you wrinkle your nose like that." He paused. "Almost." He
chuckled as Kagome balled her fists by her side, growling in anger before turning tail and storming into the forest, his laughter reaching
her ears as she sat down on a fallen log.
"I will never understand him." She fumed silently. "Never in.. in a million years." Giving a soft sigh, she folded her arms over her knees,
slumping forward and frowning lightly at her shoelaces. She could hear her mother now, chiding softly that ladies sit up straight. "I
don't feel like sitting up straight. I don't even feel like a lady. Ladies don't have to go through what I do. And ladies don't look at
Inuyasha in the nude, either." Another flash of heat on her cheeks reminded her of the full monty. "I can't believe he did that." Kagome
groaned softly, putting one hand to her forehead. "He's such a jerk."
A sudden thought occurred to her. Lifting her head slowly, she realized something. He took her for granted. Plain and simple. Just that
brash show by the rivers edge showed Kagome that he thought nothing more of her than he did a passing stranger. And here she had
thought that they were at *least* friends. Balling her fists once again, she realized that she had picked that habit up from him, when he
showed signs of frustration, it was often expressed that way. Balling his fist. Relaxing her hand, she rose, turning back in the direction
from whence she had came. "You take me for granted." Kagome whispered softly. "You don't care how I truly feel.. how *could* you?
You're so rude to me.. and bullish.. at least you could *try* to show me some respect.. just an iota, but do you? No. Then you laugh at me
when you make me feel bad."
Drawn from her thoughts of anger, hurt and light despair, Kagome found herself back at the forests edge, watching the figure in the
water as he bathed. Well, splash was more like it. He wouldn't even care if.. no.. shaking her head, she tried to banish the thought from her head, but just couldn't. A look of determination crossed her face.
It was time to go home, and get back to a life that she could deal with. He would be fine here in the fuedal era.
