Our tale begins in the technologically advanced city of Monstropolis. Two leaders in the field of robotics, Dr. Thomas Light and Dr. Albert Wily, create a series of humanoid robots. Amongst these is the robot helper, Megaman, his sister Roll and his brother Protoman as well. There are six other utility robots, each designed with a specific purpose. Cutman, for example, was designed to fell trees. Bombman was to wield heavy explosives, and so forth. Unfortunately, Dr. Wily suddenly decided that he wanted to take over the world using this newfound technology. Desperate to stop him, Dr. Light modifies Megaman into a super robot. Equipped with an arm cannon, Megaman set forth to defeat the nefarious Dr. Wily.
