The Original Megaman Series

Dr. Thomas Light

Megaman's creator and a world renowned scientist, Dr. Light is a genius in the field of robotics. He initially collaborated with Dr. Wily to build several humanoid robots, but Wily soon made his own ambitions quite evident to the world. Light takes the role of a mentor towards Megaman and still continues to develop new technologies for him.

His other creations are Roll and Protoman who are Megaman sister and brother. He created Megaman X, but sealed him in a capsual because he thought he was going to be to dangerous since he is able to feel and think for himself.

Dr. Albert Wily

Dr Wily is the evil robot designer of the future world. Ever since he made plans for world domination, he has created numerous amounts of robot armies led by powerful robots in the hope that he can destroy Megaman and succeed in his plan. His only mistake was to underestimate Megaman's power, and he is always losing to Mega Man because of this.
He created Bass and his dog Treble who were equal match to Megaman and Rush. Bass is out of control even Wily can't control him and it is up to Megaman to stop him. Another major creation for Wily was Zero. Zero was created to kill Megaman. It is believed that he killed Wily and the Original Megaman and for causing a lot of destruction on earth before he became Megaman X best friend.

Dr. Cossack

Dr. Cossack first appears in Megaman 4. At one point, he is framed by Dr. Wily, but he is really one of the good guys. He is the one who made the robot bird, Beat, to assist Megaman in battle.

Megaman

Megaman is the super robot created by Dr Thomas Light. Originally designed with his partner Roll to be a household robot who worked for Dr Light in their futuristic world, Megaman volunteered to be converted into a war robot when the evil Dr Wily began to cause havoc in the world and threatened the existence of peace. Once Dr Light converted Megaman, the world's strongest robot was born. Megaman's primary role was to defend the world from Dr Wily's evil creations and to bring him to justice. By having a strong heart and an equally strong sense of justice, Megaman has never let the world down and will fight to the very end to defend the forces of good.

Rush

Rush is Megaman's K9 buddy. Designed by Dr Light to aid Mega Man, Rush helps Megaman out by being able to transform into different forms that can greatly assist Megaman in battle. Rush's abilities and loyalty to Megaman made them fast friends and have given Rush a vital position in the battle against Dr Wily.

Roll

Roll is Megaman's robot companion. She was also a household robot until Megaman became a figting robot, and ever since she has assisted Dr Light in many of his important tasks, and also helps out Mega Man and Rush whenever she can.

Protoman

Protoman is Megaman's brother. Also created by Dr Light, Protoman is a fighting robot of similar design to Mega Man, but his high ego and confidence in himself creates friction between their relationship, and Protoman often believes that he is the better of the two, and is always looking for an opportunity to prove this. He is thought to be evil at first, but then it was found that Dr. Wily had built his own fake Protoman.

Bass

Bass is Mega Man's rival who was created by the evil Dr Wily. Bass has a short temper and is not the most polite robot around, and he often will battle Mega Man to not only defeat him for Dr Wily, but to prove his own strength and superiority. Bass is a strong fighting robot, and although he isn't the friendly type, he does have a sense of justice and a heart somewhere under his metal body.

Trebel

Trebel was created by Dr. Wily to be the K9 buddy of Bass. He can do almost everything as Rush. He will give his life for Bass just to save him.

King

King is a very powerful robot created by Wily. He thinks he is the best robot Wily has created and he is doing everything in his power to show it by beating Megaman and Bass. He defeates Protoman, but he did not had a chance with Bass and Megaman when they both of them team up for the first and only time.

Auto

Auto was built to be a lab assistant for Dr. Light. He is an expert in mechanics and robotics. In Megaman 7, Auto pilots Big Eddie (the giant Flip Top vehicle) and builds new parts out of bolts for Megaman. In Megaman 8, Roll took over the bolt job since Auto assisted Megaman in high-altitude terrain with his head helicopter and missile launcher.

Beat

Beat was a robot bird created by Dr. Cossack, and he was given as a gift to Megaman in MM5. He does various things for you throughout the MM series like save Megaman from falling into a pit, or giving you an invincibility shield. Also on MM8 he will help you sometimes during the flying stages.

Duo

Duo is an entity from another planet who wants to rid the universe of all evil energy. During a battle with another android in the Earth's orbit, Duo ends up crash landing on Earth, and is found by Megaman. Megaman takes Duo to Dr. Light, who repairs him. After fighting Megaman once, Duo joins up with him to put a stop to Wily and his plans to use the evil energy for his own personal gain.

Eddie

Eddie is a friendly helper robot for Megaman, built by Dr. Light. During battles, when he is called, Eddie will teleport in briefly and his top will flip open, giving Megaman a powerup or health of some kind, and he will then teleport back out again to go restock.

Megaman X Series

Megaman X

Megaman X is the first reploid who was discovered in the far-off future by Dr Cain. He was created by Dr Light, but his purpose is unknown. Once he found X, Dr Cain has tried to reproduce X's designs, but has not been able to copy him exactly. Thus he created the Reploids, robots who could live and think for themselves and have feelings. His only mistake was to not see the danger in this and a group of the reploids became infected with a virus which caused them to go maverick.

Eventually their army grew so large that X decided that he must destroy them and save mankind. Still confused about his past, X embarks on a journey to defeat the Mavericks and their leader Sigma once and for all. Megaman X has extremely powerful capabilities and has been designed to fight for freedom and peace.

Zero

Zero is a reploid who has been assigned to the group that is trying to wipe out the mavericks, the Maverick Hunters. He is a powerful reploid and is an effective fighter against the mavericks. Zero and X became fast friends and they now fight together against evil.Zero's past and creation is also a mystery, but it has been rumored that Zero used to be a maverick and was defeated by Sigma when he lead the Maverick Hunters. Zero was then repaired and reprogrammed to fight for good instead of evil. After some speculation and rumors, it is believed that Zero was created by Dr Wily and that Megaman X was the original Megaman that was enhanced by Dr Light and sealed away for thirty years. Dr Wily's purpose for Zero could have been to destroy X, but little is known at this point.

Dr. Cain

Cain is an archaeologist who, during an excavation, unearthed the remains of Dr. Light's laboratory and in turn found the capsule of X. Astonished by X's remarkable design and intelligence, Cain was able to create a new series of robots, the Reploids, based on X. He has now dedicated himself to the Maverick Hunters. In recent times, Cain has pretty much dropped out of the games. It is unknown what his whereabouts are.

Sigma

The robotic leader of the Maverick resistance, a group of Reploids who believe that the ultimate destiny of the Reploid race is to extinguish humanity. Designed by Dr. Cain and formerly the leader of the Maverick Hunters, Sigma mysteriously became corrupted and turned against the humans. What perpetuated this change of programming? Could it have been his initial clash with the mysterious Zero.

Vile

Vile is a war machine who has an obsessive is to destroy X. Having been destroyed by X in a confrontation in Sigma's fortress, he was later resurrected by Dr. Doppler. A robotic cop gone bad. He will not reset until X dies.

Agile

The tactician of the X-Hunters, Sigma's three assisting officers in the Mavericks. Agile is a fast talker and a rather arrogant figure who typically taunts his opponents in a haughty manner before battles. He is also an expert swordsman and wields a deadly light-saber beam with great accuracy. He is fought twice in X2 - the first game on foot, the last from the helm of a powerful machine.

Serges

The leader of the X-Hunters, Serges would appear to be a scientist type of Reploid. He is clearly the brains to fellow X-Hunter Violen's brawn. He always attacks through the use of some strange contraption - like a tank or a hovering platform.

Violen

Armed with a giant morning star on his back, Violen is the third X-Hunter and the evident "brawn" of the group. He also seems to be a little bit slow on the uptake. X battles him twice in X2, and he is the only X-Hunter who is essentially the same in both battles.

Dr. Doppler

A Reploid scientist designed for the betterment of mankind, Doppler wasted no time in crafting a human/Reploid utopia known as Dopplertown. Serving as the mayor, peace endured in Dopplertown for quite some time. The scientist eventually discovered an anti-virus that would eliminate the so-called Maverick Virus altogether. But, unfortunately, the cure was only a placebo and Doppler was soon infected by the very virus he strived so hard to destroy. He then led a campaign on behalf of Sigma, creating a new battle body for his lord and resurrecting the vengeful Reploid Vile.

Naturally, the Maverick Hunters fought to stop Doppler. After he was defeated by X, Doppler seemed to revert back to his normal ways. If Zero was beaten earlier in the game, it is Doppler who sacrifices himself to save X. Otherwise, Zero saves X and Doppler presumably dies when the fortress collapses.

Gate

Gate is a Reploid scientist who worked beside Alia at a research institute. While on a scientific expedition into the Eurasia ruins, Gate encountered a mysterious chipset that ultimately possessed him. He now seeks to create a Reploid utopia, devoid of humans, and with himself as the sole leader.

Bit & Byte

Disciples of the infected Dr. Doppler, Bit and Byte battle X and Zero separately. Bit is a fast-talking yellow robot whose speed is his primary weapon. He is contrasted against Byte who is slower and more methodical, whose strength is his primary weapon. Bit and Byte can fuse together to form a fearsome mechanical threat.

General

A massive Reploid who served as the leader of the Repliforce, a faction that sought peace amongst Reploids. General was threatened by Sigma into constructing a massive orbital weapon ("Final Weapon"). The General eventually sacrifices himself to stop Sigma from using the terrible weapon.

Colonel

Presumably the General's second-in-command in the Repliforce, the Colonel is cool under pressure and always acts like a gentleman. That was until a misunderstanding between the Maverick Hunters and himself led him into a rage. He is the brother of Iris. He is one half (the aggressive half) of the program from the ultimate Reploid.

Iris

A female member of the Repliforce, Iris is the sister of the Colonel. She was once in love with Zero. But, the conflicts between the crimson Hunter and her brother strained this relationship into a breaking point. In the end, Iris turned against Zero in order to defend her brother. But Zero has never forgotten the halcyon memory of her. She is the other half (the pacifist half) of the program for the ultimate Reploid.

Double

A clumsy rookie in the Repliforce who is X's assistant. Unfortunately for X, Double is really more than meets the eye. Double has the ability to transform into a fearsome alter ego, named Jelloman, who is in reality a spy working for Sigma.

Signas

The leader apparent of the Maverick Hunters following the events of Final Weapon. Appearing to look much like the Colonel, Signas is equipped with a highly precise CPU that has elevated him into a top tactician in record time.

Alia

An advisor in the ranks of the Maverick Hunters, Alia keeps X and Zero up to date on the events surrounding the mysterious Sigma Virus, and gives tips whenever they encounter challenges.

Douglas

Douglas is the brilliant Reploid engineer of the Maverick Hunters who desperately tries to restore functionality to the Enigma Beam, which has the potential to save the world from the falling space station Eurasia.

Lifesaver

The head of the medic department of the Maverick Hunters, Lifesaver works to develop an antivirus program that could be used to restore peace to the Reploid race. In his spare time, Lifesaver ponders the mysterious programming and architecture of X and Zero, which gives his CPU headaches.

Dynamo

A mercenary hired by Sigma to bring down the Eurasia Colony, Dynamo is rarely serious in what he does. He attacks using a dual-bladed lightsaber weapon. The eccentric Dynamo constantly believes he poses a threat to X and Zero, and frequently taunts them.

Geemel

Geemel is the leader of the Shadow Hunters, a sort of cyber terrorist faction. They initiated an attack on the Maverick Hunters' central computer. Geemel is characterized having twisted exuberance, and a peculiar laugh.

Zain

This golden robot with the massive sword is Geemel's second-in-command within the ranks of the Shadow Hunters. Not one to mince words, all Zain wants to see is X slashed into dozens of scrap parts.

Techno

Techno is a computer hacker who used his skills to interface with the Maverick Hunters' mainframe computer, under the command of Geemel. He is also the evil twin of the good hacker, Middy.

Berkana

Berkana was a Reploid researcher and designer, although none of the designs she created where ever seen by the public. Her most recent experiments involved the study of a Reploids 'DNA soul', the unique code that comprises each Reploid. She was able to steal the DNA souls of Reploids for a dubious cause. Berkana is dressed in a sorceress garb and has a rather flirting personality.

Middy

The happy-go-lucky Middy is the Maverick Hunters' resident computer hacker. There is no error he cannot debug, no program he cannot process. But, the code cracking gets personal when he discovers that his own brother, Techno, is behind the chaos!

Gareth

If Berkana is a sorceress, Gareth is her knight in shining armor. This heavily-armored Reploid is the brute cohort of Berkana. Together, they intend to resurrect Reploids of the past in an attempt to appease their master, Sigma.
