This anime/manga series takes place on the desolate planet, Gunsmoke, (right next to the planet, Rawhide - JK! ~_^) which has two suns and three moons. Here Vash, the Stampede, aka the 60,000,000,000$$ Man, aka the Humanoid Typhoon, is the most wanted man in the land and there's a bounty on his head for completely destroying the city of July, although no one was hurt in the incident. Go fig'! Despite his reputation, Vash is surprisingly good-natured and seemingly naive. The story follows his mishaps and adventures along with the two Bernadelli Insurance girls, who have been assigned to follow him everywhere in order to keep the massive damage that seems to follow him everywhere, down to a minimum. Why they just don't turn him in for the bounty is beyond me... At any rate, they encounter many enemies and make a few friends, such as Nicholas D. Wolfwood, along the way. But what exactly is Vash's "raison d'etre"? What about his past and dual nature? What the heck are those giant lightbulb thingies? And what's up with the doughnuts??? Well, don't ask me, 'cuz I don't wanna spoil the fun!

Nicholas D. Wolfwood

Gomen! Although Vash is the main character, Wolfwood beats him out hands down for the number one spot in the looks and coolness department (in my book anyway...) I mean, how much cooler can you get than a chain-smoking, gun-toting, shades-and- semi-chest-baring-black-suit- wearing preacher man? Huh? Although he may have a rep of being the rebel, bad boy type, he is Vash's soul mate in the kooky 'n fun loving department. And although he carries a veritable arsenal in that Cross Punisher of his, doesn't mind knocking off an innocent soul or two with his deadly marksmanship and likes to habitually dip into the scotch, bourbon or whatever... he does make up for all his vices by running an orphenage back home. Aw! Makes ya wanna huggle him all over, don't it? ^__^

Vash, the Stampede

Okay, so this guy is a major bubble-head, but he's an endearing bubble-head! Plus he's a master gunslinger and I really wouldn't wanna be on his bad side. Anyway, behind his gregarious yet goofy facade, Vash hides a deep, dark and somewhat complex past that explains his current predicament, his seemingly superhuman abilities and all those insane scars all over his body. (What's with that chest cage thing? - see below), not to mention that nutty hairstyle...

Kuroneko-sama!

Now it just wouldn't be Trigun without this guy! This ubiquitous Mr. Black Cat makes sure to pop up somewhere or other on every episode of Trigun. Why? Are Mr. Kuroneko's appearances of some symbolic significance pertaining to some higher truth? Am I on crack? It's just comforting to know that whatever may happen in the story line, you can always count on him to be there for ya! Nyao! ;-3

Legato Bluesummers

This guy is the head of the Gung-Ho Gun which are basically the main baddies of the series and which are run by Millions Knives (more about him later). I have yet to experience much character development for this guy, but it seems his main MO is to bring down Vash and please Master Knives. Despite his two-dimensional characterization (as far as I'm concerned anyway), he is quite easy on the eyes... Purple hair, golden eyes, spikey shoulder thingy... neat!

Rem Saverem

Rem is the woman that constantly appears in Vash's visions and is a very giving and cheerful person. She plays a very important part in both his and Knives' early years as well as the existence of the planet Gunsmoke. Additionally, Rem gets points in my book for not dressing and acting like the typical anime female bimbo. Yay! ^_^

Millions Knives

Knives is the principle bad guy and even though he's Vash's twin brother, he out to get him and destroy the whole human race. Nice, huh? As for his reason's for doing so, well, you'll just hafta watch the series or read the manga... just like I did! Basically I just think he's off his nut!

Milly Thomson

Milly is Meryl's partner and one of the insurance girls assigned to oversee Vash and, boy oh boy, is this gal one tall drink of water! She's also the constantly cheerful, hopelessly optimistic, Pollyanna type. But I suppose being somewhat clueless and carrying around a big a** stungun helps in assuring oneself that everything will turn out okay (at least for oneself anyway...) She's also typically paired up with Wolfwood. Yeah... whatever... *grumble* (um... I think that's supposed to be ME!)

Meryl Stryfe

Hmm... what can I say about Meryl? Well, she's Milly's partner, of course, her weapon of choice is a Derringer (50 of them,actually - what you can't provide in quality, you make in quantity, I guess...) and she likes to whine a lot and not have fun. Others might call her the sensible one, but I just call her the killjoy! I think that she's also supposed to be Vash's love interest or the other way around (although she vehemently denies it - how mature!). Well, hopefully some of his upbeat nature would rub off on her...
