Gozaburo was the CEO of Kaiba Corp. His son, Noa, died at age 10 when he was hit by a vehicle. Gozaburo placed his son’s memory/soul into a super computer and adopted a boy named Seto, and his brother, Mokuba, so that, once ready, Noa could inhabit Seto’s body. Gozaburo treated Seto harshly, preparing his body for Noa.
Noa, of course, went crazy, and Gozaburo threw the super computer into the ocean, where the boy shouldn’t be able to do anymore harm.
Then, Seto pushes his dear adopted father out the window of his office. Gozaburo dies. Seto takes over. End of story.
But, is it really? Maybe, just maybe, Gozaburo had a back-up plan, a plan for revenge....
