Now you guys might be wondering where the name Magdaria/Magdalia comes from?
Well from the new testament in the holy bible the name that would be closest to Magdalia/Madaria would be lady Magdalene the prostitute who later met jesus and was renewed. Magdalene became a saint, now known as St. Mary Magdalene. Although I'm not sure if they really based Sayo from her.
I did remember Sanosuke saying to Sayo "Is it one of the christian teachings say that it is against God to kill?"
Yes that is right. It is one of the ten commandments of God. It is the 5th commandment which states..."Thou Shall Not Kill"
Shougo kept on mentioning about the day of the Holy Ghost?
Actually he meant the pentacost(The Feast of Thanksgiving) which is the day of the holy spirit. This is also the day that Sayo died:(
They also kept on mentionong about Shougo being the savior?
Well I'm not surprised. Christians do believed in a savior. He is Jesus son of God, King of Nazareth(INRI). He saved Gods people from their sins. He also healed the sick; performed miracles; and preached wherever he goes.
Did you notice the tapestry that Kaiyo showed to Sayo, Sano, and Shozo?
It showed a portrait of Shougo being crucified. The cruxifiction symbolizes the death of Jesus since he was nailed on the cross. By now you must think that Shougo was probably based from Jesus. Well Shougo kinda looks like him in a way. Jesus is portrayed in pictures and paintings having long wavy brown hair. The man in the middle of the background is a portait of Jesus although it's kinda vague. Sorry. But whenever I look at his face, it calms me for he has a very pleasant and peaceful look.:)
I really hate that guy called Santo! Know why?
He really looks weird. Kinda like an ugly manikin! Also the name Santo doesn't fit his personality. In Spanish Santo means "saint" sometimes referred to as "Holy".
Sayo as the Holy Mother?
Now I know where that came from. Jesus' mother who is Mother Mary is also referred to as the Holy Mother of God. She is also the Queen of heaven and earth.
Why wasn't there a priest?
Since all of them are christians then they should make it a habit in going to church well maybe since at that time and place, christians were not allowed. Well Shougo could at least bring a priest to hold masses for the people. Or maybe it was probably to complicated for the animators to put another character and would complicate things so they got the priest out of the scene thinking that the viewers don't have a complete background about this religion since most of the Japanese people are Buddhist or Shinto believers. Well for me, I'm still not satisfied. My religion teacher would probably critic that film if she ever saw it. Well for me I did enjoy it.:)
How sure are the people that they would go to heaven?
First of all as a christian one must make it a habit to go to confession so that your sins will be cleansed. The person who m you must confess to should be a priest. Well I really don't understand the Shougo series especially in some scenes, its in contrast to the religion.
