HIS DEAL: A former desert scavenger, Yamcha first encounter with Goku was when Goku was only 11.

In a quest for the Dragon Balls (so he could wish away his fear of girls), Yamcha wound up fighting Goku. After a few scuffles with Goku, he eventually helped defeat Emperor Pilaf, though he didn't get his wish. However, he did overcome his fears and wound up falling in love with Bulma. Unfortunatly, the relationship was short lasted: cured at last of his phobia, the ladies loved Yamcha, which made Bulma very jealous. Years later, after realizing how strong Goku was, Yamcha went to follow in Goku's footsteps and trained under Master Roshi.

At the beginning of DBZ, Yamcha trained alongside Krillin, Tien, Chaotzu, and Yajirobi to prepare for battle against the Saiya-Jins. Yamcha was the second to fight, squaring off against one of Nappa's 6 Saibamen. Yamcha could have defeated the Saibaman, but it turned out to be kamikaze and exploded itself while holding onto Yamcha. While in Other World, Yamcha, Tien and Chaotzu were all trained by King Kai in the art of Kaio Ken, though they have never used the Kaio Ken and Spirit Bomb attacks.

After being resurrected by the Namekian Dragon Balls, Yamcha trained even harder in anticipation of the coming Androids! During this time, he and Bulma permanently called it quits, and Bulma wound up marrying Vegeta in the wake of her pregnancy with the Saiya-Jin Prince's child.

During the battle with the Androids, Yamcha was first on the field, only to wind up with a hole in his gut. Despite the fact that he was healed with a Senzu bean, he decided it was finally time to quit, and retired from the martial arts scene.

CURRENT WHEREABOUTS:Though not fighting, Yamcha has appeared in the Majin Buu Saga at the World Martial Arts Tournament, but this time as a spectator.
