The Super Saiyan
Believed to make all others tremble in their wake the Super Saiyan is one of the most powerful fighters in the universe. Despite Vegeta's belief that royalty can achive Super Saiyan, it turns out to be the rage of a loved one that causes one to reach that power. This form disables Oozaru transformation because the power would ultimatly destroy the Super Saiyan and the ones he holds dear. A first time Super Saiyan needs to discharge all the energy he has gained in a short amount of time.. A saiyan typically reaches Super Saiyan in a battle he/she is losing. A loved one is killed or injured and the Saiyan attains more power than before. The energy needs to be discharged. So the new Super Saiyan will slaughter his/her oppnent until the new energy is dispelled(usually a short period of time). Afterwards a saiyan can bring himself to Super Saiyan at anytime he wishes.
Super Saiyan Levels
Sub Super Saiyan| Characteristics: Hair stands up on end but doesn't turn gold, eyes turn green, The Sub Super Saiyan has a gold ki.
Super Saiyan lv1| Characteristics: Gold hair, green eyes, dark gold ki, light skin.
Ultra Super Saiyan|Characteruistics: Large muscles, lightning, slow movement, eyes turn pitch white during power up
Super Saiyan lv2| Characteristics: Stiff, dark gold hair, lots of small bolts, no muscle increase
Super Saiyan lv3| Characteristics: Long Gold hair, lack of eyebrows
Super Saiyan lv4| Characteristics: Think Black hair with 2 bangs hanging off the shoulders, transparent gold ki, Purple hair on chest, Purple Tail.
And for you believers in AF(I pity you)
Super Saiyan lv5|Characteristics: Think White hair with a grey ki and a longer tail, all hair turns either grey or white on the Chest, muscle mass increases, Skin turns red.

Goku Sub Super Saiyan(kaio-ken), Super Saiyan lv1(when Krillen dies), Ultra Super Saiyan(In Room of Spirit and Time), Super Saiyan lv2(When getting ready to fight Majin Vegeta), Super Saiyan lv3(When he hears of Vegeta and Gohan), Golden Oozaru(saw a full moon while in one of Bebi vegeta's attacks), Super Saiayn lv4(Reverting from Golden Oozaru), Super Saiyan lv5(Afterlife in AF).
Vegeta: Super Saiyan lv1(While traying to save his ship), Ultra Super Saiyan(Against Cell), Super Saiyan lv2(when captured by Babidi), Super saiyan lv4(brute ray by Bulma)
Gohan: Super Saiyan lv1(when he learns of his failures), Super Saiyan lv2(when #16's head gets crushed by Cell)
Trunks(mirai): Super Saiyan lv1(Gohan's death), Ultra Super Saiyan(Against Cell).
Trunks(chibi): Super Saiyan lv1(training)
Goten: Super Saiyan lv1(fighting Chi Chi)
Brolli: Super Saiyan lv1(Purple hair)(unknown), ultra Super Saiyan lv2(Fighting Goku in Movie 8).
Bardock: Sub Super Saiyan(Gold Hair)(seconds before he is killed by Freeza)
