Rebirth
(Prologue for the Return - series)
It's so dark here...
But it's nice warm and peaceful.
Where am I?
Can it be…?
I'm dead.
Oh, yes. I knew that I'll die. I transferred my armor to Kayura to free
her. And since we can't exist without our armor, I had to die.
How strange. If I would have my body, I would smile. I've always thought, that I'll die as a warrior, on the battlefield with weapon in my hands. I thought, it will be painful and a lot of blood all around and an evil smirk on my enemy's face... And I held a staff and closed my eyes and… I can feel the others... ronins... my companions... Kayura... the kid and Mia... they're crying... mourning their loss... me...
But I can't go back.
I played out all my cards, even the joker. And I didn't loose the game. I fulfilled my destiny. I'm feeling sorry for the salty tears but this is, how life goes.
Keep me in your memories, you all. Remember me. Remember the red-haired guy named Anubis...
***
I become use this. This timeless, motionless floating in nothing. It's
better than fighting and killing and definitely better than to hear Sekhmet's
continuos cursing and to see that hateful look in Dais and Cale's eyes.
I think I wouldn't go back unless I would have a chance. Things are pretty
all right without me too.
"Are you sure?"
Hmm? Who's that?
"Just open your soul and you will see me."
Yes, I can see... Wait! Who are you? You're wearing the Ogre Armor... Kayura?
"No."
Than who else?
"I am the Ogre Armor."
What?
"Let me explain, Anubis. All of the Armors have their own personalities. We all have a life on our own. And like the wearer, the armor cannot exist without his chosen fighter too. Or at least, we don't like to be abandoned and empty. I'm bounded by the Jin of Loyalty so I'm loyal to you. I was needed in that battle against Talpa, but I don't want Kayura as my wearer. So I started to look for you and I found you. Now, I beg you Anubis... come back and save me!"
Save you? From what?
"A demon lord got my kanji orb and he will use me. He cannot succeed but I don't like that glow in his eyes and the touch of his hand... Please, Anubis, come back and wear me again!"
I'm fascinated by your loyalty but I can't and won't go back. Call the other armors. I'm sorry that I can't save you but I'm dead.
"I cannot call the others! The Armor cannot communicate with the others without its wearer! I beg you Anubis, my true master... come back!"
I feel your despair. Oh, no, I feel it so deeply... but a dead one can't be raised.
"Yes, it can be raised."
Huh?
"If you collect all your strength and I give you my power, you can return into your body."
Really?
"Really. Please, my master, accept my power and come back... I will serve you forever!"
I... I must back... I can't stand the despair that radiates from you... lead me... Ogre... Can I call you Ogre?
"I will feel myself deeply honored. Now, take my hand."
***
... There was a blinding flash of light and Anubis found himself standing on solid ground. He looked around. The sky was deep red and the sand under his feet was gray, like wet ashes. The young warlord examined his own form (he didn't dare to call it "body" yet) and realized, that he's completely naked. Than he looked up and saw Ogre standing in front of him. The eyes(?) of the Armor shined gently under the shade of the helmet. The armor-gauntlets lifted up and took off the horned metal helmet. Anubis gasped. He saw himself, just maybe four hundred years younger. Ogre smiled on him, almost shyly. His eyes glowed innocently; his hair seemed somehow paler.
“Where are we now? “ Anubis asked.
“This is the Plane of the Waiting Souls" Ogre answered looking around. “This is the last station before life... or the first before death. You can turn back, if you changed your mind."
Anubis shook his head.
“What are you thinking? I'm going to save you. You're my best friend, Ogre... you've never left me in the lurch."
Ogre blushed like a cherry.
“I am glad to hear this... “ He whispered.
Anubis smiled as he stepped closer and caressed Ogre's crimson hair. He looked up. Anubis saw tears in the emerald eyes. One drop began to run down lazily on the still-blushed cheek.
Ogre touched his face and stared at the teardrop on his armored fingertip.
“What is this, Anubis? “ He asked frightened.
“Mortals call it teardrop." The warlord explained. “When we cry from great sadness or happiness, tears come from our eyes."
“Tears..." Ogre thought loudly “I have never cried before..."
“You shouldn't do it now. Don't be afraid. I'll save you."
“Thank you!" Ogre's eyes lit up. “So... are you ready to accept my power?"
“I'm ready."
And Ogre, the Warlord of Cruelty's armor, the younger self of Anubis wrapped his arms around his master's waist and pressed his beautiful lips against his.
Anubis felt a warm, velvety tongue to caress his lips. He opened his mouth letting the tender piece of flesh in. Ogre's hands caressed Anubis' shoulders and the light touches sent shivers down along the warlord's spine. After a few minutes, Anubis felt a wave of pleasure to near, like they would make love... And when the wave grew into a tsunami, he felt himself melting into Ogre's body, becoming one... It was like to come, stronger than ever before.
***
When Anubis opened his eyes, he found himself standing alone on the red-gray Plane of Waiting. But he felt Ogre on his body and in his soul. The young Warlord smiled bravely, spread his arms and flew up, up to the red sky, where between two crimson clouds, a slim ray of white light were breaking trough...
Author's note: Awww... isn't it wonderful? I'm really proud of
myself to figure out, how to bring back the little red-top. It was more
interesting, 'coz I've never seen any RW/YST animes. So don't hurt me if
I sound awkward! ^. ^° This was fun to write. The story has some weak
points, but everything will turn out in the following "chapters". Please
be patient and read all the stories, specially the RETURN and the TEARS
ON THE CHERRY-LEAF. So sit back, relax and have a nice day! ^_^
