« Diary of a genius »

"Pluto, I have to return", tears were flowing down her face which was now red from crying. Pluto looked into her eyes. She knew this had to be tough for Nanako. If their roles were reversed, she would have probably left this place a long time ago to be with her true love, especially when she knew that the bond between them was so tight, and truly unbreakable.

Destiny had arranged it to be so, to see that the power of the crystal would never lie in the hands of an individual. This created an intense bond between the couple chosen to protect and utilize this immense power. Not even the passage of several millennium was able to weaken that bond. Nanako would forever be bound to him, but he did not have any memory of her. Only a faint recognition of what he knew and felt, as if something wascontinuously missing.

"Nanako, I understand. But you must promise me that..." Pluto struggled for the right words, and the breath to say them. This pain was immense. She hurt all over. She struggled to stand once again, but Nanako would not allow her. She sat back down with a sigh. "You mustn't reveal yourself to him until it is necessary to activate the crystal. He mustn't regain his former feelings for you."

She looked down at the ground in disgust. How could she ask that of her friend? She too was unable to forget about him. He dwelled in her thoughts always, and she served him the best way she could, by continuing to guard the gates of time. "I promise. I don't want to ruin the life he is making for himself. He's finally truly happy once again. That's all I ever wanted for him, even if it is not with me." She tilted Pluto's head up to look her in the eye. She needed to prove that what she said was the truth.

Pluto stared into Nanako's eyes, teary and red as they now were. She hated to see her like this. There was so much pain and loneliness in her eyes, but conviction as well. She knew that Nanako would do everything in her power to keep her word. "I know you will keep your word. I just had to be sure". She managed a weak smile forher.

Nanako smiled in return. "Good, now lets do something about your wounds." She leaned her head back slightly, allowing herself to levitate off the ground. Gorgeous blue markings began to glow on her upper arms, forming a pattern that encircled them both. They were quite intricate yet delicate armbands, and suited her well. These glowing markings also appeared on her exposed stomach, forming a beautiful design that looked like a heart.

Pluto stared at her in wonder. She had never witnessed her change before, and knew that this meant she was going to use the power of the crystal that long ago had become a part of her. "You can't use it. It will take too much out of you... unless the crystal is joined again! I can heal on my own." It was a lovely gesture, and she knew that Nanako would have been able to heal her in only a few moments, and relieve this pain, but she feared for the well being ofher friend.

Nanako opened her eyes and smiled down at her friend. "It's the least I can do for you. You should never have had to face that thing. It's my fault that it is still alive. Besides..." she said with a smirk on her lips that almost reached her eyes, "I'll need your help to get acquainted with the city and this time. The sooner you are healed, the sooner we can get to work at stopping this menace, and perhaps I will be able to have a little bit of fun with my temporary freedom." She began to glow brighter until the light expanded, reaching Pluto and engulfed them both in its warmth andlove.

When the light receded back, Pluto was standing in front of Nanako. All her wounds were healed, and her uniform repaired. She felt great, as if she had never been in a fight at all, and had a total peaceful state of mind and body. She looked at Nanako then, wondering if she was ok. She watched her descend back down to the ground slowly, her eyes closed. Pluto reached out for her just in time, for she was about fall over.

Steadied by Pluto's grasp, Nanako looked up and thanked her friend. Noticing that Pluto's face was full of concern she said, "Don't worry. I'm fine. Just a little tired is all. Just give me a little time to regain my strength." She smiled and stood up, turning to walk towards the golden gateway that stood at the far end of the garden, bordering on the void that laid beyond it, surrounding what seemed like a little piece of paradise that existed here. "Come, we should get started. I'll need a place to stay while I'm there." Giving her friend a big smile "you can help me pick it out, and perhaps a few new cloths as well. I'm sure I'd be a little conspicuous if I went around wearing this in the streets."

She was quite right. She had a little blue top that wrapped around her chest, and a pair of pants that were baggy and only the length of a pair of caprice. A darker piece of blue material was tied around her waist as a belt. There was a silver chain with connecting silver pieces, all very intricate figures that hung from the chain. Around her neck was a silver chain with a heart that hung from it with small intricate designs carved all over it, and an engraving on the back. She had a piece of see through blue material that came from the silver bracelets she had on each wrist, and was joined to the middle of her top in the back. Over all she looked as if she were dressed as one would imagine a genie to be.

Pluto smiled. She knew Nanako was just trying to keep their minds off of what was going on, and what might happen. But she was still happy that Nanako could still find light of the situation. She was also glad that she would finally be able to leave this dimension that had basically been a prison for her for so long. She'd try to show her friend the best time possible in the mean time. Anything to rid Nanako of the sad look that was always in her eyes, even when she smiled. "Ok... But we should probably go to my apartment first and get you changed before we go out. You should probably have a little rest as well."

"I'm fine. Really I am" she smiled, trying to reassure Pluto. "Come on, I can't wait to see the Earth again. I've missed it terribly... Come on!" She waved to her friend on, and they left through the gateway.
