Shinichi Kudo is a 17-year old high school student and detective. He likes to play with a soccer ball when he is thinking very hard. He is a big fan of Sherlock Holmes. He shrinks into his child form after a deadly drug is forced down his throat by some mysterious men from a dark orgainization; the drug was meant to kill him without leaving a trace but failed. He likes Ran a lot but never said so, and now he changed his name into Conan Edogawa and lives with Ran and her father to hide his identity so that the criminals would not find out about him and harm the people around him.

Conan Edogawa looks like a 7-year old elementary student, he is actually Shinichi. Even with the appearance of a 7-year old, he still have his original mind and intelligence. He now lives with Ran and her father, who is a bad detective. Conan had planned to stay with them and Kogoro (Ran's father) might come upon some cases that may lead Conan into the criminal that shrunk him. Since Kogoro can't really solve any cases, Conan secretly solves all of the cases for him and makes Kogoro famous so that he can get some info on the criminals that shrunk him. Conan became friends with his classmates Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko and forms a detective team called Detective Boys.

Ran Mouri is Shinichi's high school friend and likes Shinichi but never tells. She was with Shinichi the night that he disappeared and later comes upon Conan and keeps him. She does not know that Conan is actually Shinichi but she did suspect so. Ran is very strong willed and is very good at karate; she uses karate to help defeat criminals. She is responsible for Conan and Kogoro (especially their dinner).

Eri Kisaki is Ran's mother, she and Kogoro is not divorced but they don't live together.  She is a very good lawyer and her logic and deduction skills are better than Kogoro's.

Kogoro Mouri is Ran's father, and a very bad detective and is very irresponsible. His business was going badly for losing customers to Shinichi, however, his business and fame rose as Shinichi disappeared. But it is actually Conan who solves the crime or mystery and lets Kogoro take all the credit.

Dr. Agasa is Shinichi's good neighbor and is the first one to know that Conan is Shinichi, it was his idea for Conan to stay with Ran. He invents all the good gadgets for Conan to use including: Voice-changing bow tie, tracking glasses, solar skateboard, and all the other cool gadgets. Dr. Agasa told Ran that Conan is his distant relative and convinced Ran to keep Conan.

Genta Kojima is Conan's friend and the leader of the Detective Boys. He is bully-like, strong but foolish most of the time. He loves to eat and likes all kinds of fun or adventurous stuff. He likes Ayumi.

Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya is Conan's friend and a member of the Detective Boys. He is very scientific and doesn’t believe in ghost or superstition. He likes Ayumi but seems to like Ai now.

Ayumi Yoshida is Conan's friend and a member of the Detecitve Boys. Both Mitsuhiko and Genta likes her but she likes Conan. She cares a lot about Conan and admires him.

Ai Haibara is the child form of Shiho Miyano; she took the drug that shrunk Shinichi and knows the real identity of Conan. She is the inventor of the deadly drug that shrunk them both. She was originally a member of the dark organization and decided to quit after the death of her older sister. She was to be executed by the orgainization when she ate the deadly drug and escaped. She later became one of the Detective Boys.

Inspector Megure is often at crime scenes with Shinichi or Kogoro. He is the head of the police at Tokyo. He sorts out the evidence and makes arrests. The Detective Boys often report problems to him.

She is Shinichi and Ran's classmate. Conan sometimes uses her as the detective when Kogoro is not present.

He is the son of the head of the police at Osaka, Heizo Hattori. He is a high school detective equal as Shinichi. He knows the real identity of Conan, and sometimes solves cases with him. Heijei is referred as Detective of the West as Shinichi is referred as Detective of the East. He and Kazuha has the same relationship as Shinichi and Ran.

She goes to the same school as Heiji and is easily jealous of anyone that Heiji might like. His father is also a police and has worked with Heiji's father before. She used to be jealous of Ran and is now friends with her after knowing that Ran likes Shinichi.

He is a policeman at Tokyo and works under Inspector Megure.  He is not very smart but has a good heart.  Takagi is in love with Satou. 

She is also part of the police force at Tokyo working under Inspector Megure.  She is one of the most popular female in the police and often works with Takagi.  Satou likes Takagi for his good heart.

aka Kaito KID, KID the phantom thief. He is the mysterious thief that every good detective (which excludes Kogoro cause he's stupid) wants to catch, and the only one Conan failed to catch. KID is the main character in another manga called 'Magical Kaito' created by Gosho Aoyama, the creator of Detective Conan.

Yosaku Kudo is Shinichi's father. He is a world famous analogize novelist and often work all over the world, he now lives in USA with his wife. It is said that Shinichi's analogy ability came from him; his analogy ability is so great that even Shinichi cannot exceed him.

Yukiko Fujiyama is Shinichi's mother. She was once a famous actress now lives with Yusaku Kudo in USA. She later found out that Conan is actually Shinichi. A.k.a. Fumiyo Edogawa (pretending to be Conan Edogawa's mom).
