        Card Captor Sakura Review

    Review by: Aekold

Sakura Kinomoto is an average 4th grade student in Tokyo, Japan.  One day though, why nobody is home, she hears weird noises coming from the basement.  Without her brother or father around, Sakura goes to check to see if it’s a robber.  Instead of finding a robber, Sakura finds that the noises are coming from a strange, locked book with the word “Clow” written on the front.  She opens this book she found, only to find strange looking cards inside.  Not knowing what they are, Sakura reads the words on one of the cards only to have a strong wind suddenly appear around her and sweep all the cards away!  A scared and frightened Sakura is then shocked to see a weird looking, stuffed animal shaped creature appear from the inside of the book.  Later, the creature reveals itself to be named Kero, and informs Sakura that she must capture all the “Clow Cards” that she accidentally had blown away.  From then on, Sakura’s life is forever changed as she becomes known as the Card Captor!  She must now hunt down and trap all the clow cards before they wreak too much havoc upon the unsuspecting people of Tokyo.  She can’t do it alone though, and many memorable characters come help her on her way.  But, can an average, ordinary 4th grader really stop the clow cards?

Card Captor Sakura is a great series.  With memorable characters such as Sakura, Kero, and Madison, it really is fun to just keep watching.  Not only does it have good characters, but the animation is excellent.  But not even great animation can do any good without a good soundtrack to go with it.  With great musical orchestration, and some songs sung by the famous singer Maaya Sakamoto, it has one of the greatest soundtracks I’ve ever heard.  This all comes together to make one of the greatest, and most memorable series around.  Though it tends to lean more towards women, it still has great action scenes and many other things that might make guys watch it.

With a great story, good sounds, and very nicely done animation, I give this show a 10 out of 10.  Anyone who likes shows such as Angelic Layer should definitely see this one.  Even if you don’t like that type of show, I very highly recommend you see at least the first 5 or 10 episodes.

Sakura Kinomoto- A friendly, cheerful elementary girl, with her best friend Madison (Tomoyo). She never gives up when danger comes to her! Also her guardian is always around her named Kero or Keroberos.

Kero (Keroberos)- A stuffed like animal. He’s small on the outside, but BIG in the inside. Gives advice to Sakura and Li. Trains them till the very end of the last card. He loves to eat food very much, and to play video games.
