Set against an impending
apocalypse in present time, Fallen In is a story about the intricate emotional
entanglements between various spiritual entities and humans under fire. While an occult fantasy, it also deals
extensively with the frustrations of youth, the pains of individuality, the
beauty of dreams, and the harshness of reality. It features unorthodox portrayals of angels and demons, devil
and god, and covers issues including but not limited to religious themes,
substance abuse and sexuality.
Readers’ discretion is advised.
Introduction
It all started with a
dream . . .
Jonah
Clayborn’s life has all the elements that makes up an average teen’s existence:
boredom, whimsies, discontent; loving parents who expect him to live up to
their expectations, rebellious acquaintances who expect him to conform to their
standards, and a dream that he cherishes above all else.
Ever since he was a kid, Jonah
has a recurring dream where he could hear a nectar-sweet voice telling him
bedtime stories in the dark.
Mesmerized, the boy makes it his goal in life to realize this dream by
meeting the very girl within it in real life.
. . . before the
fantasy begins . . .
During his seemingly futile
wait for “the one”, Jonah instead meets peculiar, otherworldly beings claiming to
be angels sent down by Heaven to battle evil on earth. Instead of turning away in fear, Jonah
somehow becomes fast friends with these “angels”, towards whom he felt familiar
and at ease. Yet these seemingly
benevolent entities appear to carry hidden agendas, one of which is to oppose
Jonah’s “dream girl”, who they see as part of the evil Heaven is battling
against . . .

Short Stories:
Reptilian Cold

Through the maze of glowing glass tanks he led her, black clad figure
indefinite under the shop’s dim lights.
“Some people refrain from keeping pets, fearing the pain of having to
let go when they die.
“Others keep them anyway, going from one pet to the next like partners
in a dance; remaining emotionally detached from beginning to the end.
“Still others keep only the most cold-blooded of animals: the reptiles
and the arachnids that are as decorative as they are alien. Frosty by nature, they are incapable of
giving warmth when you caress them, incapable of feeling loneliness when you
desert them. Being so, it’s easy
to assume that their pains are less than that of their warm-blooded
counterparts. After all, when a
dog dies, its owner would probably cry.
When a frog dies, it just . . . dies.
“They say those you cannot hurt can’t hurt you back.”
Stopping in front of a huge terrarium housing a willowy snake with
scales like jasper, he turned to face her with anticipatory eyes dark as the
night.
“So,” he gestured at the exotic creatures all around them with a spidery
hand, “what would you be looking
for?”

Reptilian Cold –
Mellow Remix
A
sunnier, ‘lighter’ version of RC meant for those who may dislike the dark
atmospherics of the original story.
Rather startling character and plot changes are involved; whether it is
for better or for worse is up to the reader to decide.
