CLAMP Campus Detectives

CLAMP Campus Detectives

Whether it's the magical girl cuteness of Card Captor Sakura, the comedy of Angelic Layer, or the drama of X/1999 - Clamp is a manga group that every true otaku should know. Trying to describe the great details behind even one of their stories can take more than a whole website can handle, and I only get one review to rave about CLAMP Campus Detectives.

CLAMP Campus Detectives is, in its simplest form, the story of three detectives and the crimes they solve. They work on the CLAMP Campus, a city-school full of prodigies where anything can, and will, happen. They also make up the Elementary Division Student Council. The president is 11th grader Nokoru Imonoyama. A beautiful charmer, Nokoru also has a brain that NASA would love to hire. He's just currently busy avoiding paperwork and planning parties. The secretary that is constantly trying to get him to do said paperwork is 10th grader Suoh Takamura. When not yelling at Nokoru, Suoh keeps up with his ninja training. It's a family art, and he stays sharp to make sure Nokoru is safe from the constant kidnapping attempts the rich boy gets. The last of the threesome is the student treasurer, 9th grader Akira Ijyuin. Between teaching baking classes at the university and making tea for the group, Akira also takes time out for some campus nightlife. Just don't tell the cops he has a nightlife.

To be warned, this is an anime with friendship, love, and all the beautiful cuteness shojo has to offer. But if you ever thought of giving cuteness a chance, grab this title. If nothing else convinces you, remember it's by Clamp. With their name in the credits you know you're in for a treat. And with Nokoru's tricks, Suoh's pitiful attempt at sanity, and Akira's perfect warmth - this is Clamp at their best.

Animetropolis Inc. gives CLAMP Campus Detectives a 9.75 out of 10 overall.

Animation: 9 out of 10 (maybe I just wore my tapes down)

Violence: 10 out of 10

Transitions: 10 out of 10

Dialogue: 10 out of 10

Rating: I would rate it PG. No major violence, one serious death threat.
