One thousand bluish black nights can not compare to this night; as I lay on the soft, dew coated grass; gazing at the dark bright stars that shoot its stare back as if thousands of small cosmic knives pierce through my body. Images dance through my mind as an ice breeze blew across my face, gently stroking my hair with a mole of fingers, prying between every strand of my dark black hair. Images of when I slept and let four years of my life slip silently away then to wake feeling four years younger. I sat up, again waking from a four years lumber and looked dazed at the blue purple lake and its silent waves, waving at me as if to call me over.
Before I could respond to the lake’s merciful moan, the sky brightened. I glanced around me looking for the thing that has bleached my dark sky white. To my right I spied a cylinder of white rainbow light. I stared petrified as a young woman slowly appeared inside the white cylinder of light floating one foot above the grass covered ground. The night sky slowly darkened again as the light dimmed and her feet touched down to the ground. Her eyes opened and spotted me; she took a step, and then another with each step quickening as she glided towards me. I shop up as if by instinct and started to run. I ran as fast as I could dodging tree branches with sharp leaves attempting to stab at me as I passed by. I could not run any faster but rather I seem to run slower. Everything passed me as if I was walking slowly with my heard thumping and my lungs pounding, pumping heavily for air. My brain slowly blanked out. What was happening to me; the world slowed down with every step I took until I could move no more. I turned my eyes and faced behind me and I saw her hand coming slowly towards me; it inched closer and closer to me until it caught me. I felt her soft hand stroke my face and rustle my hair with loving care, gently replacing the rough icy wind as if god has tamed the wild ocean and guided Jesus to walk calmly on the still water. Her hand began to draw back and I desperately followed it. With the antithesis of my previous actions, I ran after, yearning for the loving touch of her soft skin upon mine. Who are you? I whispered in my mind and the woman stopped and turned towards me. My feet felt cold as if a hundred daggers stabbed it at a time and soaked them with blood. Afraid to look down I closed my eyes and slowly moved my head in position, hoping to open them and merely glance to make sure I had no holes in my feet. But when my eyes opened I stared in fright; I was standing in the middle of the lake, with silent ripples rippling from the soles of my feet. I looked up into the woman’s purple eyes and she smiled. Then I knew. I understand now. I know she is and why she is here. I know who I am and why I am here.
I awoke with a startling gasp; I was sweating lard beads and my night shirt was soaked. I recollected my memory of my vivid dream. Was it a dream? Just then my alarm woke too and bellowed at me to get ready for school.. I jumped out of bed, washed up, and got dressed. I grabbed my books in a hurry, not wanting to be late to meet my friends at a near by park and walk to school together. I pulled on my socks and jumped into my shoes and in an instant jumped out of them. My shoes were soaking wet.
Only spending one second to think on this I decided to wear sandals for the rest of the day. When I arrived at the part, my friends were already chatting away, laughing, as if nothing was wrong, not knowing of my deep dark secret.
“It’s about time!” shouted Sarah as I walked up to them, “where were you?”
“My shoes were wet and I had to go find my sandals, sorry.”
“That was a lame excuse…” muttered Alex.
“Ah don’t worry, it’s not like we are late or anything.” explained John trying to get me off the hook.
“We will be late if we keep standing here!” yelled Tina, pushing me along the trail.
I walked quietly with my friends to school, pondering about what might have happened last night. How could I have been able to walk on water and who was that young woman? When we finally arrived, we took our seats in class and John whispered to us,
“Hey, I heard that the old hag quit on us.”
“Yea, I heard the principle paid her to retire early because she was too ugly,” added Alex.
“She quit because you two are always messing around in class!” hissed Sarah.
“I don’t care, I heard the new teacher was a total babe!” said John a bit louder.
“Oh please, you think anyone with a big bust is a babe…” breathed Alex.
Before John could make a grab at Alex by the neck, the door opened and his jaw fell open. Our new teacher walked into the classroom. Turning my gaze from the window I saw the teacher and noticed she was looking right at me as she walked up to the podium. Peering into her dark purple eyes, my jaw dropped, only to be closed by John’s elbow jabbing at my ribs.
“See, I told you. She’s a babe isn’t she?”
To be honest her beauty was not the only thing that stunned me, but rather her dark purple eyes. They were the exact same ones as that young woman I saw in my dream; no, it was the person I saw last night by the lake.
