Chapter 2: A New Home

Around 5:00 A.M. the next morning, Renee wakes up. She sees that she was being held by Mike though the night. Renee remembers that he let her stay at his house. Slowly, Renee sits up and walks over to the window. She watches the sun rise. Renee then walks over to her bag. She takes out her notebook and begins to write a poem:

/ This guy cares for me very much,

He doesn’t want my life to be in vain.

He’s trying his very best

To help me have no more pain. /

A familiar person comes up behind her. “Good morning, you’re up early,” Mike says groggily. “I’m used to it,” says Renee, “what are we gonna do today?” “Maybe we should find a new place for you to live,” says Mike, “you can stay here if you want.” “I would like that thank you,” Renee says followed by a smile, “my parents won’t care.” After that, Renee fetches her bag. “I need to shower. Where is the bathroom?” “Upstairs first door to the right.” Renee walks upstairs. Mike looks at her as she walks upstairs and starts to think. ‘…I gotta stop thinking that… !’ A few minutes go by and Renee walks back down the stairs wearing a black tight fitting sleeveless shirt with baggy pants. She goes to the couch and goes back to sleep. Mike hears someone coming down the stairs. It was his mother. “She still here?” she asked. “Yeah,” Mike replies. “Well, if she’s gonna live here, 1) you and her stay friends, 2) she sleeps in guest room you sleep in your room, 3) Don’t get any ideas. Got it?” “Yes mom,” he says, “Yeah. Anywho, Renee told me that she’s going to a camp the whole summer. It starts tomorrow.” “Where is her stuff?” his mom asks. “Already here.” “Okay then I’m going back to sleep,” she says as she walks up the stairs. “Why’d you get up mom?” Mike asks. “I wanted to make sure you two weren’t doing anything funny,” she says then smirks. “What kind of guy you take me for?” Mike asks her. She just smiles and walks back upstairs.
