I REMEMBER
I remember when you first came to us
A wanderer from beyond time
You saved our lives and protected our world
And we were proud to call you friend
But we failed to protect you
The torture that was enacted
The agony that you felt
Your mind had become broken
Your body lay beyond repair
Your soul hanged unbalanced
And your heart could not go on living in such pain
So now you hide in the unknown
Lying between wakefulness and slumber
Subdued and time-lost as the years turn over
And the world scarcely knows you are gone
But I still remember you
For my memories are still alive
With your sad story of so long ago
One day I know you will wake
Healed in mind and body
Maybe not in heart and soul
But I am waiting to share the burden of grief with you
I am waiting, waiting patiently here
For I remember you, strange wanderer
Will you remember me?
The child I once was
In the man grown tall
That yearns for you evermore
Do you remember me,
As I remember you?
