Felina sat in the mist, waiting. Keekomon was now awake, and was looking around.
“We’re in the Forests of Mist…” she sighed. “But, how’d we get here?”
“That dream…Fate…”
“What?” Keekomon asked, turning to look at Felina. The blue hared girl was holding her head in her hands.
“That boy…he said his name was Kurt…”
“Boy?”
“Yes...the one with the Shukumeimon.”
“Shukumeimon?!” Keekomon yelled.
“What?”
“Shukumeimon is a myth! He’s never been seen before!”
“What else do you know about him?” a voice asked, and a boy appeared. He was dressed in a white shirt, and baggy blue jeans. On his head, he wore a blue hat. “Hi, my name’s Drain.”
A large wolf-like Digimon walked up behind him. “And I’m Wakarumon. It means ‘to understand’ or ‘understand’.”
“Yea. You met with Kurt in that dream, right?”
Felina nodded. “Yea…but, how are we..?”
“Kurt told me to take you back to your group.”
“Ah. Ok.” Felina stood up, and dusted herself off.
Keekomon growled. “Listen, bub, I have NO idea who you are. And, if you say you’ve been her for years, then try how long we’ve been here!”
The boy shrugged. “Nine years.”
Keekomon blinked, stunned. “How…how…”
“Don’t worry about it, Keeko. This guy’s a friend. If we can’t trust him, how do we get back?”
Keekomon sighed. “I guess you’re right…” But, all the same, she frowned. How does this human know how long we’ve been here?
Drain looked at the small pink In-Training Digimon. Her eyes were narrowed, and she was looking at him as though she were trying to figure it out…
Kyle blinked, and opened his eyes. Something…he heard something…a voice of gold.
Or was it?
Kyle sat up, and rubbed the grit from his eyes.
The singing continued, and Kyle stood up. He began to walk into the forest. As he neared a stream, the voice seemed to pull him onward.
He walked down the banks and along the river until he reached a large glass like lake.
His eyes scanned the shores, and then he saw her; hair of raven black, blowing upon the breeze. She turned and looked over her shoulder, but not at him. Her eyes were of dark aqua, and seemed to pierce his soul.
A Digimon stood beside her, only about three feet tall. It looked like a mountain lion, only she was silver, and had a black stripe going around her neck and down her back. Her paws were black as well, and her tail had a small gold ring around the end, with markings on it. On her shoulder blades, two short stubs grew outward.
Kyle could vaguely recognize the Digimon as Kon’nanmon, a Digimon that the group had run into a long while ago, and had become friends with. This Kon’nanmon, however, looked more tame then the last, and was humming along with the girl.
Kyle was silent as a shadow as he walked toward her. Not a single grain of sand crunched under his feet, nor did a single twig snap.
The girl stopped singing, and stood as though stone in the gentle breeze.
She did not turn, nor did she make any movement when she spoke.
“I guess I’m not the only person in this world,” her voice was gentle, and had a strange feeling of cool winter nights and warm spring days upon it.
Kyle stopped dead.
“I know you’re there, please talk with me. I’m so alone,” she closed her eyes.
“I have no idea who you are,” Kyle replied.
“I’m not blind, nor am I deft.”
“I never said you were,” Kyle said.
“I know, but you were thinking it, were you not?”
Kyle stopped breathing. This girl, who ever she was, had been able to read him like a book. How did she…?
“I will tell you later. I am known as Nansui,” she turned and looked at him, her dark aqua eyes looking directly into his. Moonlight outlined her soft white skin.
She was dressed in a kimono. The bottom of it was a lake, light blue and silver, with cloud white cranes around it drinking and watching. Each detail was done in silver. As Kyles eyes moved upward, he watched the scene get darker and little gold fireflies danced about, then came the black sky and the silver stars. Her obi was a light blue with tiny gold stars done about.
“Soft water…” Kyle murmured her name when translated to English. “My name is…” he stopped abruptly.
Her eyes continued to be gentle, but she said his name as though she’d always known it. “Kyle. Kyle Chapa.”
“How…?” he asked, slightly uncomfortable with her knowing it.
“I know more then you shall ever know. Don’t feel that way, else Alana will be upset with you,” she added.
Kyle blinked. “Okayyy…”
“Are you a DigiDestened also? I hope so…for if you aren’t, then for once, I am wrong.”
“Yea. I am.”
“And, your Crest?”
“I thought you knew more then I did,” Kyle said in a slightly rude tone.
“Ah, I see. You have much anger in you. Much rock and wood. You don’t wish for others to see who you truly are.”
Kyle growled.
“But, you also hold a lot of fear. What are you so afraid of? I am only a few years ahead of you. You need not fear me.”
“Ok, cut the Japanese fortune-telling crap. This is the twenty-first century, not the nineteenth.”
The girl grinned. “It’s true, and you know it.”
“How do you know all this stuff about me?” Kyle growled.
The girl smirked. “You could call it a gift…”
Kyle narrowed his eyes.
“…or you could call it a curse.”
“Kyle!” Anthylamon yelled as she exploded into the scene. “Who’s that?” she growled, glaring at the girl and at Kon’nanmon.
“It’s…just some person. let’s get back to camp,” Kyle said, then turned to walk away.
“It’s Belief. Your Crest.”
Kyle stopped.
Anthylamon growled, her fur stood on end.
“Calm yourself, kitten,” Kon’nanmon said, looking at the purple cat-like Digimon with her ice like eyes.
“Kitten?! I’ll show you kitten! CLAW SPIN!” Anthylamon spun around and shot her claws out at the Digimon.
Kon’nanmon sat, calm as ever letting the attack hit her. When the smoke cleared, she was unharmed. A shimmer in the night air told of a shield of some kind.
“I told you, kitten, to calm down.”
Anthylamon growled.
“So, what do you want?” Kyle asked, turning to face the girl.
“I am merely here to be with other humans. Please, let me stay. I see your friend will be returning with in a days time,” Nansui said.
“Who? Alana?”
“The one you call Felina.”
“What? How can she be coming back, if she’s in a dungeon cell?!”
“I see another with her. A boy.”
“Oh brother…I think we’re really over our heads this time…” Kyle murmured.
