Episode 5: The Seventh Child

Matt smiled as Felina told him what had happened when she had first met Keekomon, Keelamon’s In-Training form.

“And then, she jumped on me and began to chant, ‘Felina! I’ve missed you so! ’Lina, can we go look for boys? Then can we go shopping?’” Felina laughed gently as she remembered that time. Then she soured up. “I remember my mom used to have to drag me from the house to go shopping.”
The smile on Matt’s face fell. “You miss her, don’t you?”
Felina had a sad look on her face. She nodded, her eyes galzeing over. “Yea.”
“Why don’t you go back? To the real world, I mean.”
Felina blinked rapidly, her lashes catching the moist tears on her lower lid. “I tried once. I really did. We all did, except Alana. She let us use her laptop to try and get home.”
“What happened?”
“Oh, it didn’t work.” Felina said sadly. “And I doubt my mom even remembers me. Nine years is a long time, Matt.”
“You said Alana had a laptop,” Matt said, changing the subject. “Where is it?”
“There used to me seven of us,” Felina said, not truly answering his question.
“Seven?”
“Yea. It was a guy. He was only about nine when it happened…” Felina closed her eyes, and began her tale…

Four years ago…

As Felina remembers it…

It was a dark night, and the moon had gone behind some clouds. A boy was with us that night, and same as with every night before that. His name was Sean. Sean…I forget his last name. But, his Digimon’s name was Mimicmon. It was a monkey type Digimon, and would always mimic us.

He had brown hair, and cobalt blue eyes, and freckles.
Anyway, we were all around a campfire that Justin had rigged up for us. He – Sean – and Mimicmon were near the fire and were mimicking Alana and Horkamon. She of course, laughed along with everyone else. Sean always made sure she was happy, much to the nerve of Kyle. And in exchange, Alana had made a promise to help him out.
See, Sean’s parents had gotten divorced just before he had come to the DigiWorld. And he also knew – somehow he knew he was going to die – that he’d never see his parents again.
Later that night, a sudden boom caught us off guard, and a Digimon came out into the clearing. It was a Tigeriamon, she’s a tiger-fire type Digimon, and very angry if you get into her territory. We had accidentally done that.
Everyone ran for the forest, but Alana tripped, and twisted her ankle. Sean doubled back and so did Mimicmon. Horkamon wasn’t far behind.
Tigeriamon saw that Alana was helpless, and went after her. The Digimon used her Tiger Swipes, but Sean had ordered Mimicmon to attack Tigeriamon.
Mimicmon used Tiger Swipes as well, and hit Tigeriamon across the face. Wail he was battling Tigeriamon, Sean went to Alana’s side to try and help her.
Horkamon had joined the battle right then, and was trying to get Tigeriamon off guard. She got hurt trying to do it, and that made Mimicmon mad. It was well known that he cared deeply for Horkamon.
That’s when he did something extremely stupid. He went at Tigeriamon, and used an attack that was extremely strange. He shot his hand forward, and yelled, “MONKEY MIMIC!”
See, that attack just makes the opponent slightly confused, but Tigeriamon’ don’t get confused.
Tigeriamon shouted out her attack, which made Mimicmon fly backwards into a tree. He was knocked unchounches.
Tigeriamon then began to walk towards Alana and Sean. Sean stood up and walked up to the digimon and began to yell at her.
Tigeriamon growled, and glared at him to back off, but he didn’t. She shot her claw out at him, and ripped his stomach and face. He went flying, and hit another tree, then slumped to the ground.
Alana screamed, and tears began to flow from her eyes, because she knew he was dead.
Then the sky began to glow a blue-purple, and Horkamon regained chonchesnous.
That was the first time she had ever digivolved into Bladeramon.
She then attacked Tigeriamon, and drove her off.
Alana was with Sean, who was almost dead. His last words were; “I’m sorry I couldn’t repay you for your kindness, and that I couldn’t save you…”
Needless to say, those words were the first to truly etch themselves on her heart. She stayed with his body, even after he had died. Horkamon, me, and the others stood away, watching as Mimicmon disolved into nothingness.
Alana spent the next day and night digging his grave with a flat rock. She wouldn’t let any of us help, so we stood by and watched as she dug it. When she had finished, she placed his body in it, and filled it in. She then etched his name, birth date, and death date on a larger flat stone.
And let me tell you, she didn’t pick just any place for his burial, she chose a sunny clearing that had cherry trees, and pines, and aspens around it. Near by, a small stream flowed, and the sun would always shine there. It had been his favorite place in this world, because it reminded him of his home.

Return to the present, Felina speaking…

“That was when she became so cold toward the other people in our group. Every year, she goes back, alone, to pay her respects to him.

“She had buried her computer with him, and told him that now he would be able to return home.
“It was probably the saddest day of all our lives, seeing the way that his death had changed her, and the way that it effected us,” Felina opened her eyes.
They were glazed over with tears, and Matt felt his heart ache at the way that it must have felt when he had died.
“What was his Crest?” he finally managed to ask.
“It was the crest of Humor.” Felina smiled. “He always used to humor us with small jokes, and stuff like that. He was extremely shy when we had first met him, though he warmed up quickly to Alana. Somehow, he knew that they were alike.”
Matt sighed. “I wish Tai could have met him. Maybe he’d chill.”
Felina smiled. “I guess you’re right. But, the past is the past.”
Matt seemed to go into deep thought, then he said, “Did Alana love him?”
Felina sighed. “You know, that’s the only question that any of us have ever wondered about the two of them. Were they in love? None of us are sure. They may have been, but then again, they were only nine.”
Matt nodded. “I see.”
Felina sighed. “I hate to tell you this, but you can’t understand after a single story, what most of us have been trying to understand for almost nine years!”
Matt blinked, somewhat stupefied. “I’m sorry,” he said at last. “I didn’t mean to make you mad.”
Felina relaxed. “Oh…sorry…but, it’s true. Even Alana doesn’t know if she was in love with him.”
“When will she be going back?”
“The grave site’s near the Bladeramon Village, so it will be as soon as we get there.”
“Won’t she eat, or bathe or sleep first?” Matt asked.
“No, she’ll go directly to the grave. Then, again after dinner she’ll take some flowers, or some such thing. She really misses him.”
Matt lowered his gaze back to the ground. “What would happen if I were to mention it to her?”
“She’d probably ask how you knew,” Felina answered. Suddenly, Tsunomon and Keelamon showed up. They were yapping away about something.
Keelamon smirked when she saw Matt and Felina. “You two ready? It’s the right way, the Village is just about a half a mile from here.”
Matt stood, and so did Felina. “We’re ready,” he announced.
Tsunomon bounced over to him, and into his arms.
Keelamon had run over to Felina, when suddenly a loud boom exploded.
Matt looked up, and saw a bunch of gray smoke. Two figures were emerging from it. One was a human boy, about his age, maybe a year older. The boy had dark brown hair, and brown eyes. He was in baggy tanish zip-off jeans, and a green tank-top that was partially covered with a button-down green over shirt. Next to him stood a humanoid Digimon. She had black fox ears tipped in white, and a black fox tail also tipped in white. Her front paws were like human hands, and were in black gloves. She had red eyes, and the lower half of her face was covered by a black cloth. She also had on a long sleeve black shirt, similar to the ones that ninja’s wore. Same with her pants. On her back were two katana’. She was about three feet tall.
Matt stood, mouth agape at the Digimon. “Who?”
“That’s Ninjeriamon. She’s a Virus/Vaccine Digimon. She’s a ninja/black fox type, and her main attack is Double Edge. She uses her katana’ to use it,” Keelamon explained.
“I see you like my Digimon?” the boy asked. “Well, you’d be surprised to see how well she fights other Digimon.”
“What do you mean?” Felina asked.
The boy didn’t answer.
Suddenly his Digimon jumped in the air, and hissed, “DOUBLE EDGE!” she took the katana’ from her back, and shot them at Felina, Matt and their Digimon.
The four dogged them, with luck.
The two swards landed in the ground, then shot back up and into the foxes hands. She scowled, then placed them back on her back.
“Ninjeriamon dark DigiVolve to…WINGEDNINJINIMON! The cutting edge of Darkness!” the Digimon that stood where Ninjeriamon had was now about three times larger, and had black wings protruding from her back.
“What?! She skipped the Champion level!” Tsunomon yelled.
“What do you mean? She’s an Ultimate?!” Matt yelled.
Tsunomon nodded, then began to growl, like Keelamon was.
“Get her and her Digimon, now!” the boy yelled to his Digimon. WingedNinjinimon began to walk towards Felina and Keelamon, but Tsunomon yelled, “BUBBLE BLOW!”
The attack didn’t even phase the digimon.
Keelamon growled, and yelled, “AQUA MARRIAGE!” she turned blue, and water flowed from her mouth, and hit WingedNinjinimon on the legs.
The boy laughed. “You must be joking!”
“Look again!” Keelamon said, turning back to her normal pink.
The boy looked at WingedNinjinimon’s legs, and saw that they were iced, so the Digimon couldn’t move. The ice was steadily growing up her legs.
WingedNinjinimon growled, and took one of her katana’ and slashed the ice apart.
“DigiVolve!” Felina yelled to her Digimon.
“How ’bout we try that new ring, ’Lina?” Keelamon growled.
Felina blinked, then nodded, and took the ring off of her finger, and held in the air above her.
Keelamon’s eyes began to glow the same pink-red as Felina’s Crest.
“Keelamon Planet digivolve to…COMETECLIPSEMON! Ice is the power of Sensibility!” a humanoid digimon stood, pink-red hair flowing upon a breeze that had suddenly picked up. In her hair rested pink, red, and silver wings. Her tiara was silver, and had a pink-red gem in the center with the sign of Sensibility in it. Just below her collarbone rested another pink-red gem with the same sign in it. Her eyes were red, and she held a long staff in one hand that ended in a six-sided silver star. At the base of the star was another gem. She had what looked like Angewomon’s cloths on, except they were all red-pink and silver. A red-pink choker rested around the digimons neck, in the center was a silver oval plate. Large red-pink moth-like wings, outlined in silver, exploded from her back, finishing the touch.
The boy raised an eyebrow. “Well, well…what’s this?”
The Digimon began to glow in the color of Felina’s Crest. Then she pulled her hand with the staff back, and lifted the staff into the air. Her eyes narrowed. “COMET ICE-BLAST!” she yelled, and a blast of ice shot forward. It hit WingedNinjinimon, shooting her backwards into a tree.
WingedNinjinimon growled, and ran forward, hissing. She then grabbed Felina by the waist, and jumped back to her master.
CometEclipsemon blinked, then growled.
“NINJA PUNCH!” WingedNinjinimon hissed, shooting her hand forward and creating a shockwave that hit CometEclipsemon in the stomach. The Digimon bent over, and de-digivolved into Keekomon.
Keekomon was nothing more than a pink fox/dog head, with a small pink-red heart on her forehead. She also had a large fluffy pink foxtail.
Tsunomon growled, and jumped forward. He yelled, “BUBBLE BLOW!”
Nothing happened.
“Get her too, and let’s go,” the boy said.
WingedNinjinimon grabbed Keekomon, and jumped away into the forest.
The boy smirked, and began to walk into the forest. He stopped, then said, “Beware, the darkness is real.” Then he disappeared.
Matt felt tears welling in his eyes, then he yelled the blue haired girls name. The girl he hadn’t been able to save, and now she’d probably end up dead, like that boy.
