About ten minutes later, Matt looked over at the blue haired girl beside him. He wasn’t exactly the most open person in the group, but he wanted to know about the blonde.
“So,” he began. “You’ve been here almost nine years?”
The girls head shot up, realizing that he was talking to her. “Uh, yea. She was the first to show up and meet her digimon,” the blue haired girl pointed to the blonde.
“What’s her name?” Matt questioned.
“She…” the girl frowned, and shook her head. “Sorry, I can’t be the one to tell you that. But, I can tell you about her, if you’d like.”
Matt nodded.
“Well,” the blue haired girl began. “She was the first one here, about a month later, we turned up. All of us were somewhat ragged when she found us, and had met our digimon. First she met up with Nathan,” the girl pointed at the brown haired boy, “he had met up with his digimon, but hadn’t really seemed to care about him. Next, she found Justin,” when saying this, the girl pointed at the blonde who was in a gray shirt. “He’s sorta a ditz, but he’s really good with survival. And most of the time he knows what to say. Then she found Val, short for Valian,” the blue haired girl motioned toward the black haired girl, whom, when Matt looked closer at her hair, could tell it was streaked with blue. “Val’s a real blonde, even if her hair isn’t. She’s the type to flirt with guys all the time, and to talk on and on forever. Then she met me. My name’s Felina, by the way,” the girl gave Matt a sort of half smile. “After meeting me, she met Kyle. He’s the one with the cross and the hat.
Oh, and just a little background info, DON’T make passes at her when he’s around. He’s been known to beat anything that looks at her the wrong way to a pulp. That’s why you don’t see Nathan and Justin making passes at her – be sure to warn every guy in your group about that. And another thing, she likes him, but she doesn’t know he likes her, and vise-versa. Don’t get involved, or you’ll pay for it later. Everyone knows they like each other, and they’ll tell you the same thing. Just stay out of it,” Felina took a small breath. “And, to tell you, she’s not the real leader of the group. Nathan is. He just doesn’t act like it. Oh, and don’t try to get too friendly with Kyle. In the end you’ll regret it.”
“Felina!” Nathan yelled suddenly. “Get over here!”
“Well, talk to you later…?”
“It’s Matt.”
“Talk to ya later Matt, and remember, don’t get to friendly with anyone in our group,” she then turned and ran over to Nathan.
“What do you want?” Felina asked when she reached Nathan.
“You aren’t telling him anything about us, are you?” Nathan glared at Felina. “Because if you are…”
“I only told him the light stuff. You know; who to be friends with, and who to stay away from.”
Nathan nodded. “Good. Because, you know we aren’t staying with them. They have their fight, and we have ours.”
Felina sighed. “I know that. You don’t have to baby-sit me, Nathan. Besides, that’s the way it was with the other humans that came here, remember?” she turned and walked over to Val, and the two began to talk.
Nathan sighed, and shook his head.
Suddenly he heard a female voice call to him. “Nathannn!” he turned to see Keelamon running up to him.
“What is it, Keelamon? If you need something, you should go to your human.”
“Well, I WOULD go to her, but she’s talking,” Keelamon gave off a sheepish grin. “Hey, Nathan, isn’t that Mimi girl cuuttee?”
“Mimi girl?” Nathan asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yea, the one who was doing, what do you humans call it? Glomping? Yea, the one who was glomping Kyle earlier.”
Suddenly Dayakyumon came over. “You know it’s true Nathan!” she said when she reached him.
Nathan frowned, and said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about. If you ask me, she’s to pink,” he then wandered away from the two girl digimon.
Keelamon giggled. “I think we caught him off guard.”
Dayakyumon smirked. “What? We actually caught the all mighty army-boy off guard? It took us long enough.”
“What’s going on here?”
The two digimon turned to look up at Horkamon.
“Hi Horky!” Keelamon said with a grin.
Horkamon looked disgusted. “You know I can’t stand being called that…”
“Oh, get used to it grouch-face,” Dayakyumon said.
Horkamon sighed. “It seems you two have taken to this situation well.”
“What do you mean?” Keelamon questioned.
“You two are all bright and cheery. I mean, look at Poisomon, and Anthylamon. Hell, look at me! These new humans are making me feel like our entire world is being taken over.”
“POWER CLAW!”
There was a large boom as Anthylamon attacked Gatomon when she had been about to say something from behind her. Joe jumped backward, and gave out a yell of shock, and Gomomon sweatdropped.
Kari gasped, then ran over to the cloud of smoke. “GATOMON!”
“I’m ok Kari. And you need to learn to calm down,” Gatomon said to Anthylamon.
“You wanna make something of it?” Anthylamon growled, balling her paws into fists, and holding them in front of herself.
Kyle stood behind Anthylamon, but did nothing to stop her.
“Fine. I’ll take you on any day,” Gatomon replied, her eyes narrowing.
The blonde haired girl walked over, but didn’t interfere.
“Gatomon, we shouldn’t fight with them,” Kari said.
“It’s ok Kari, I won’t get hurt. Besides, she needs to learn some manners.”
“If that’s how you see it, then I should warn you, I won’t go easy on you. I may only be a rookie, but I can defeat a champion with one blow.”
“You’re far to over confidant,” Gatomon replied.
By then, all the other digimon and humans had come over to watch the digi-battle.
“Anthylamon’ll kill Gatomon. Weather or not she DigiVolves,” Justin said matter-of-factly.
The blonde haired girl nodded. Kyle slowly moved toward her, but she didn’t seem to notice.
Poisomon smirked, and nudged Keelamon in the ribs, then pointed at the blonde and Kyle. Keelamon smirked as well, but soon turned her attention back to the fight.
“LIGHTNING CLAW!” Gatomon yelled, swiping her gloved paw at Anthylamon.
Anthylamon dogged the attack, and sent her own at Gatomon.
“POWER CLAW!” the attack hit Gatomon across the face, leaving behind a trail of blood.
Gatomon growled, and lunged at her opponent. She swiped at Anthylamon, hitting her across her backside.
Anthylamon flipped in a singled liquid motion, and caught Gatomon’s underside. She bit Gatomon on the ear as she scratched her underside.
Gatomon jumped backward, and landed on all fours. She then yelled, “Gatomon digi-volve to…ANGEWOMON!”
An angel stood where Gatomon once had.
Anthylamon smirked. “So, you rose up a level? Well then, so must I…”
“Anthylamon digivolve to…UTENAITHMON!” the saber-tooth tiger stood yet again in battle. “Now you shall feel what it is like to loose to a legendary digimon! LIGHT PREVAIL!”
The beam shot out at Angewomon, but at the same time Angewomon yelled her attack, “CELESTIAL ARROW!”
The two beams of light collided, and caused a large explosion, throwing everyone back some odd number of inches. The blonde haired girl, however, acted as though there had been no such blast.
Utenaithmon growled, then lunged at Angewomon. “CLAW CRUSHER!” she swiped at Angewomon, and cracked her helmet.
She then landed behind the now de-digivolved Gatomon.
“I told you not to mess with me,” Anthylamon said. She then turned and walked over to Kyle, who nodded, and walked over to a tree to wait.
Kari rushed to Gatomon’s side. The cat-like digimon was holding the side of her face, as though she had been slapped.
Kari felt anger throb in her veins, and stood up. “How could you let your digimon do that?!” she yelled, turning to face Kyle. “How could you let her do that to a less powerful digimon?!” Kari waited for a reply, but none came. “How could you be so heartless?!”
Moments passed, and still Kyle acted as though he had not heard her.
She growled, and the anger grew to the point at which it could no longer be controlled.
She ran at Kyle, and drew her fist back, then punched him in the stomach. When she looked up at him, he looked as though nothing had happened. She began to hit him over and over.
Tai and the others stood in shock as they watched the normally calm Kari go all out.
Suddenly, Kyle grabbed Kari by the shoulders, and shoved her. She landed with a hard thud on the ground.
“You better learn not to fight battles you can’t win,” he then turned and began to walk away, but Kari stood up, clenched her fists, and ran toward him. She slammed him to the ground, and began to beat his back.
“I hate you!” she screamed. “You’re so heartless!”
Kyle growled. “You’re beginning to be a pest!” he rolled over, and kicked Kari off him.
He stood up, and so did she. She then looked at him, tears in her eyes. “I HATE YOU!” she screamed, her voice raw from crying. “AND I HATE WHAT YOU’RE DOING!”
Kyle narrowed his eyes as she turned and ran away from the group.
Suddenly Sora walked up to Kyle and slapped him hard across the face. He turned and glared at her. “What do you want?” he spat.
“How could you do that to a little girl?!” she yelled. She then turned and went the way Kari had gone. Biyomon and Gatomon followed close by.
“Well,” Joe said, “that couldn’t have been good…”
“What? Why?” Matt sputtered.
“I warned you to tell them,” Felina said to Matt. She turned and looked at him. “Trying to fight Kyle’s like a human trying to fight a bear. Kyle’s experienced at fighting. He lived on the streets until he was pulled into this world. It’s almost impossible to get him to reason with you,” Felina shook her head. “It would be better if you people would just leave. We aren’t used to being around other people.”
Tai just continued to stand, as though frozen, blinking. Suddenly he spoke; “Kari never hates anyone before she gets to know them.”
“That’s not what matters,” Sora said, emerging from the bushes, Kari and their two digimon following. She walked up to Kyle. “You owe her an apology.”
“I owe her nothing. She was the one who wanted to fight me,” the boy said.
“Yes, you do,” Sora growled.
“No, I don’t,” Kyle replied. “If you want, I can fight you. If not, then lay off.”
Suddenly the blonde haired girl stepped forward. She walked over to Kyle. “Just apologize. It won’t kill you.”
Kyle glared at her, then said, “Sorry.”
He then turned and walked away.
“Sorry, but that’s as close to an apology as you’ll get. And, I hate to say it, but I think Felina’s right. We aren’t used to being around other humans, and it might be smart to leave as soon as possible. Something like that can’t happen again.”
Sora seemed to be pondering this for a few moments, then she said, “Has he ever hit you?”
The blonde smiled slightly. “Yes, he has. He and I got into more than one fight. But, then again, I’m used to it. I’ve always been using my fist’s and legs to defend myself, so it wasn’t as bad. Perhaps it’s the fact that the two of us are so much alike that he has learned to respect me in certen ways.”
Sora nodded. “I understand. But, we can’t leave. It’s been so long sense we last saw another human…it just wouldn’t be right.”
The blonde nodded. Then walked over to Kyle. She spoke to him quietly while the others began to talk amongst themselves. Felina warned everyone to stay away from Kyle, and Matt told the guys what Felina had told him about making passes at the blonde.
The blonde sighed. “They’re not really that bad.”
Kyle frowned. “I know, but you know how I react to other people, Alana. I can’t stand being with them, or around them.”
Alana smiled gently. “You think they know? About us, I mean?”
“Most likely,” Kyle answered.
“Just remember, no one else in even our group, besides Horkamon, knows that I really am Alana. They most likely think I’m still Alison, like I said I was.”
“Let’s hope they don’t find out.”
Alana nodded. “Let’s hope I can finish what my parents started. What my real parents started.”
Kyle glanced over at her. “You know I’m with you the entire way, Alana.”
