Episode 10: Holders of Hardship and Righteousness

Felina and Keekomon followed Drain and his Digimon through the forest of mist. Keekomon rested in her DigiDestened’s arms, and for almost the first time, was silent.

“It shouldn’t be very long until we meet up with one of your friends,” Drain said, glancing back at the two.
“Which ones?” Felina asked.
“The main group, of course. Who else would we meet with?”
Felina shook her head. “Never mind.”
“If you want to tell us, I’m sure my human would listen,” Wakarumon stated, glancing up at his DigiDestened.
Felina shrugged. “It’s just that when I was asleep last night, before I met with Matt, I had this odd dream that Alana and Horkamon had left the group to find Mimicmon and--”
“It was a dream,” Drain stated gruffly. “There’s no need to go into detail.” Drain was feeling slightly uneasy with the fact that maybe, just maybe, this girl was like Rika. He and the girl had been close friends because of what she had been able to tell, and he wasn’t sure he wanted another friend.
Felina blinked, then nodded. “Yea. I guess so.” She then subsided into silence.

Alana stood near the gates of the Dittomon Village while Horkamon and Mimicmon spoke.

She felt slightly alone, but the others were already worried about her. No, not her. It was her Crest that worried everyone. No one really cared about her. Except maybe Horkamon and Mimicmon. But, even then…she wasn’t really sure.
The night before, she and Horkamon had found out that they needed to find the other seven stones to make the first work. But, that was only if they wanted to make someone else besides the holder of the stone come back from the dead. Or was it?
Soon, she, Horkamon, and Mimicmon set out toward the rondivue point.

Kyle glared at the black hared girl as the group walked through the forest. She had followed him back to the camp like a dog. She and her Digimon had gained a lot of attention, weather it be caution, or friendliness.

The girls, of course, found it cool to have someone who could tell them about their pasts, or near futures.
Alana would have seen her as a threat, and would have reminded Nathan of the Jessica girl, Kyle though sourly.
The girl looked directly into his eyes, and she seemed to say; I am not like her. Not like Jessica. I am here to help.
Kyle frowned. What’s your Crest mean?
Hardship.
The boy felt his heart stop. What does that mean? She’s had oppression?
You could say that. Her voice said, even though she was telling Mimi that she’d find the man of her dreams soon.
“So,” Kyle heard Sora say, “What’s your Crest mean?”
“Hardship,” she said, looking directly at Kyle.
Sora blinked, then said, “Oh. And your name is? I can’t remember it…”
“Nansui.”
“Ah.”
Mimi and Val began to beg her to tell them about their futures, and if they would really hook up with someone.
Kyle, on the other hand, was trying to piece things together. So...she also has a Crest…then how many more are there? How many DigiDestened are there really?
You’re smart, Holder of Belief. I just hope you know what you’re doing. The girl frowned slightly. Just be careful, else your Crest will fail you.

About half an hour down the path that would take them to the rondevue point, Alana stopped dead.

Horkamon and Mimicmon had continued with out noticing a few more paces, then they too stopped.
“Alana?” Horkamon began.
“Someone’s watching us,” Alana said, her eyes looking over at the two Digimon.
Suddenly a Digimon jumped out of the forest. He looked like a cross between a dog a cat and a bird.
He was a blue-green color, and had a horn on his head. His long thin legs looked delicate, but the claws that came from the paws at the end looked deadly. His cat-like ears twitched, and his thin long mutt muzzle curled back so he looked like he was snarling, but he was actually laughing. His long thin cat-like tail whipped around behind him and the wings on his back folded slightly.
“I found them!” he yelled into the trees.
“Good!” a voice replied. “Because I was getting tired.”
A girl burst onto the path. She had short brown hair, and dark brown eyes. Over her eyes were glasses. She was in a slightly baggy blue tee, and blue jeans.
“Hi,” she said. “I’m Umi.”
Horkamon looked at the Digimon, then said, “That’s Yutokumon. His name means virtuous.”
The Digimon bowed his head, and kneeled slightly. “Alas, it does.”
“And you?” Alana said, and Umi looked at her. “You’re Umi?”
“Ocean, yes,” Mimicmon said.
“And, my Crest is Righteousness.”
“There’s no such word,” Alana said.
“Are you so sure?”
“Yes.”
“Fine, whatever. Then, why would I have this Crest?”
Alana shrugged. “It doesn’t matter.”
Horkamon blinked. Alana was actually being nice.
She sighed, and said, “What can we help you with?”
“Well, let’s just say, I’ve been looking for other people, and we found you. I lost you for a while, but then my Digimon found you, and followed you to make sure you weren’t dangerous.”
“Ah. A likely story,” Horkamon sighed, then said, “If you wish to come with us, I warn you, we aren’t very talkative, and we walk long distances every day.”
“That’s fine,” Umi said with a smile. “I don’t mind.”

Felina blinked when the small group had exited the trees into bright sunlight.

Drain sighed, and looked around. “Your friends should be here in about a half hour. This is where I leave you. Good luck, Felina,” he looked at the girl with gentle eyes, turned and walked away. He and his Digimon suddenly disappeared.
Felina sighed, and said, “Thank you, Drain.”
As said, a half-hour later, Tai came out of the forest. He looked like he was bored, with his arms over his head. The others came out, and soon they were all out of the trees.
“Shall we?” Felina asked, looking down at Keekomon.
The fox-dog head grinned, and began to hop away toward the group.
“Hey!” Felina yelled as she stood up. “That’s no fair!”
Keekomon just continued to hop toward the slightly shocked group of kids.
Matt’s face was like a light, bright with joy.
“Hey, wait a second,” Tai said when Felina and Keekomon came up to the group. “We were just on our way to meet with Alana and rescue you!”
“Well, let’s just say I had some help from Fate,” Felina winked at Matt, and Keekomon jumped up and down trying to be noticed.
“Hey! Look at me! I’m full of energy!” she yelled happily.
“So?” Tai asked.
“Don’t you know what happens to a Digimon when they have too much energy?” Nathan asked, narrowing his eyes at Tai.
“No.”
“Duh, they DigiVolve!” Justin said rolling his eyes.
“Oh…”
“Keekomon DigiVolve to…KEELAMON!” The pink dog-fox was back. “Haha! I live!” she said, then winked.
“It’s about time,” Felina said with a sigh.
“I hate to break this up, but I have two things,” Izzy said. “One, meet Nansui and Kon’nanmon. They found Kyle last night, or something like that.”
Joe looked at Izzy. “And, the other thing is?”
“What do we do now that Felina’s back? We’re due to meet Alana and Horkamon in four days. Do we keep the current course, or do we try and find them?”
“We find Alana,” Nathan said. “We now have no need to go that castle place.”
“But, then how will you defeat the darkness?” Nansui asked.
Kyle shivered slightly, but answered. “We don’t. Not until we have full power.”
“Why not meet up with Alana at the place you were going to meet her at, then plan your attack?”
Nathan seemed to think it over, then he nodded. “Sounds good. That’s what we’ll do.”
“Don’t we get a say in this?” Tai asked, and Sora nodded.
“No. Because you guys don’t have to hang around us.” Justin said, and Val grinned.
“Yuppo,” she said.
Nathan sighed. “Ok, then what do you think we should do?”
“I say let’s go for it,” Tai said, and Sora nodded.
“Besides,” she began, “If we don’t defeat this ‘darkness’ now, then when will we?”
Mimi sighed. “But, I just got my hair done. Do I have to go?”
“Mimi, we’ve been here for over three months. When exactly, did you get it done?”
Mimi shrugged, then looked at Val. “You agree with me, don’t you?”
“I would have, but now…we need to grow up and get a life. The world doesn’t revolve around us, sadly.”
Mimi sighed, then nodded. “Ok…”
Joe looked around. “What?”
“Are you for or against?” Matt asked. “I’m all for.”
“For,” Izzy said.
“Ok…” Joe, said. “I know I’ll regret this, but…I’m for.”
Tai nodded. “Ok then. When we get to the rondevu point, we’ll attack.”
Nathan sighed, and shook his head.

After the group had stopped for the night, Matt walked over to Felina, and sat down beside her.

“Here,” he held her ring up. “You dropped this.”
Felina took the ring, and smiled slightly. “Thanks Matt. You know, out of your entire group, you’re the only one I feel like I can trust.”
Matt blushed slightly, but said nothing.
“I mean, to me, you’re one of the few friends I have. Val and you. That’s pretty much all.”
“What about Alana?”
“Well, you know her, kind of…she’s not exactly the type of person who wants friends. I know that Nathan, Kyle and she are close, but…they still aren’t really friends. She considers Nathan an ally, and Kyle thinks himself her boyfriend. Justin is kind of her friend, but, besides Sean, no one has ever really been her friend.”
“And Horkamon?”
“Horkamon’s a Digimon. Even to Alana, she’s nothing more then some one she met for a brief moment.”
Matt sighed slightly. “Well, I guess that happens…and, I guess after we defeat that darkness, we’ll all leave and never see each other again…”
“No,” Felina said. “That won’t happen.”
“Huh?”
“Alana will stay. No matter what happens. She refused to go back once, she’ll refuse again.”
Matt nodded. “And you?”
“I’ll most likely go home, if I can. I haven’t seen my parents in so long,” Felina sighed remembering the past night. She then smiled. “You must have noticed, our group is very hung up on memories and the past.”
Matt smirked. “Yea, I can see that.”
Felina looked up suddenly.
Matt followed her gaze. “What is it?”
“The stars just tell me that I’m in a new world all over again,” she sighed.
Matt looked at the stars too. “You’re right about that. When we first got here, our first night, we all were talking about how different the stars are from home.”
The two continued to talk about the stars.
Eyes flashed blood red in the dark shadows of the forest nearby. It was Shantamon. Another Digimon was beside him, Ninjeriamon. Zach and Jessica watched the group from the trees.
“Soon,” Zach said. “Soon we shall rule.”
Jessica nodded. “Yes. Beware DigiDestened, because we’re back to play, and we’re playing to kill.”
The two smirked.

Alana, Umi, Mimicmon, Horkamon and Yutokumon sat around a small fire in the woods. It had grown late, and the five were talking quietly, or at least four of the five were.

Alana stood away from the group, looking at the stone.
Umi came up behind her, and looked at the rock. “Hey, I’ve seen something like that before!” she murmured.
Alana’s head jolted up. “You…you have?” she asked, turning to the girl.
“Yea,” the brunet nodded. “It was just a few miles the way we’re going.”
“What color?”
“I think it was jade. Or, maybe it was green…”
“Jade is a shade of green,” Alana said.
“Yea, I know. That’s why I can’t think of which it was. And, I saw another one near a castle that was blue.”
“Have you seen anymore?” Alana asked.
Umi looked like she was in deep thought. “Yea. One more. A silver one.”
“Where?”
Umi placed her hand on her chin and went back into thought. “Someplace dark. Like a cave, or a dungeon.”
“Thanks.” Alana sighed. “You are a bigger help then I thought you’d be.”
“Welcome,” the girl said in a chirpy voice.

Later that night, when everyone was asleep, Jessica and Zach walked out to the group. The looked around, and smirked.

“Let’s get this over with,” Zach said.
Jessica nodded, and Shantamon yelled out his ‘death-scythe destroyer’ while Ninjeriamon yelled her ‘double edge’ attack.
Both exploded near the sleeping kids.
Augumon and all the Digimon were up instantly, same with all the Silver Tagged Destined.
“Let’s kick some!” Anthylamon growled. “Kyle, ring! Now!”
Kyle nodded, and used the ring, which began to glow dark purple.
Nathan, Joe, Tai, Matt, Val, Felina, T.K., Kari, and Mimi did the same thing and one by one the Digimon Planet DigiVolved. Right after they had gotten awake, Sora, Justin, and Izzy did as well.
“Anthylamon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Patomon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Gatomon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Poisomon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Palmon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Gomomon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Augumon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Gabumon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Dayakyumon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Biyomon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Metamon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Keelamon Planet DigiVolve to…”
“Tentamon Planet DigiVolve to…”
All fourteen kids watched in awe as the Digimon each transformed into their Planet forms.
“Wow…” the black hared girl murmured. “I wish you could do that.” She said to her Digimon.
“UranusEclipsemon! The power of wind is the power of Belief!”
“SunEclipsemon! The power of light is Hope!”
“MoonEclipsemon! The power of tide is the power of Light!”
“JupiterEclipsemon! Electricity’s power is that of Effort, Strength and Endurance!”
“EarthEclipsemon! Life is the key to Sincerity!”
“PlutoEclipsemon! The power of the underworld and time is the key to Reliability!”
“MarsEclipsemon! Fire is the ultimate power to Courage!”
“NeptuneEclipsemon! Ice is Friendships power!”
“MitiorEclipsemon! Speed is the power to Spirit!”
“VenusEclipsemon! Beauty and light power Love!”
“AsteroidEclipsemon! Frozen ice is the power of Survival!”
“CometEclipsemon! Ice is the power of Sensibility!”
“MercuryEclipsemon! Knowledge is the power to heat!”
Each Digimon was about six feet tall, and would be described as a rainbow of beauty to those who didn’t know better.
Jessica frowned. “This isn’t good.”
Zach growled. “It’s those damn rings!”
“Shantamon, DigiVolve!” Jessica yelled.
“Shantamon DigiVolve to…GHOSTERMON!”
“You too, Ninjeriamon!”
“Ninjeriamon DigiVolve to…WingedNinjanimon!”
“Watch out, she’s an Ultimate!” CometEclpisemon growled.
Then, all Hell broke loose.

Alana and Horkamon had finally gotten the others to go to sleep, and the two were up, talking.

“You know, that girl isn’t like us,” Horkamon said.
Alana nodded. “Yea, but she knows where three other stones are. Three, Horkamon. That’s a lot.”
Horkamon nodded. “But, what if she’s lying? Then what do we do?”
“Well, no one else knows about the stones besides the five of us. When we get back to the group, we might have two of the eight.”
“Ah,” Horkamon said. “How?”
“She said that one of them was around a point up ahead, and that one was near the castle, and the last one was in a dark place.”
“Ok…”
“The last one is silver, Horkamon. We didn’t read about a silver one.”
Horkamon blinked, then said, “Are you sure?”
“I hope I am,” suddenly, something exploded about four miles away, and the sky was lit up for a moment, then all went black.
