Digimon 02: HotST: Dead Eyes

Episode 1: The Dreams of One

The child’s eyes glinted under the black sun. A smirk curled on her face.

“Soon,” she said, white teeth showing between her pale lips, “Soon I shall reclaim this world as my own. And then, mother, you will at last be able to rest in peace.”
The cold smile on the girls face would make ones blood run cold.
“Soon…”
The scene flashed to black with a single crack of lightning.

The blond hared boy sat with a frown on his face as he tuned his guitar. The television was on nearby, and he was listening to the news.
“…and our final report is about four kids that have mysteriously disappeared. They are guessed to be linked with the disappearances of Felina Koura and Alana Date’. Nothing is known about the whereabouts of these six children.”
Matt opened his eyes. He glanced at the television out of the corner of his eyes. Why are they saying this now when the two of them disappeared ten years ago?
“…the four that are missing are; Valian Tenshi,” a photo of a girl of about fifteen appeared on the screen. She had black hair with blue streaks in it, and it was put up in a bun. “Nathan McCallester,” a boy with dark brown hair and deep brown eyes was next to come up on the screen. It was minimized much like Val’s photo had been. “Justin Coleman,” a boy with blond hair and deep blue eyes was next. “And Kyle Chapa,” a picture of a boy with no expression showed up. He was wearing a blue hat over his blond buzzed hair, and had aped blue eyes. “Any reports of the children’s whereabouts will be thankful. Please call this number if you have any information about—Beeoooppp”
The television went off, and Matt looked up to see Tai. The brown hared boy turned to look at his friend.
“So,” he said, “They’re gone?”
Matt nodded. “I heard that they just disappeared. No trace of them at all.”
“The Digital World? Do you think that’s where they are?”
Matt frowned. “I don’t know. They wouldn’t have gone back. Not for any reason. Unless…”
“Unless Judi’s still alive!” Tai growled, finishing Matt’s sentence.
The blond nodded, then turned to his friend. “Tai, we have to find them.”
The brunet nodded.

Kari speaking:

Tai had called me when I was at a party with T.K. and the others. He said that it was about them. In our group, there is only one group that is known as them. The six kids that we had met in the Digital World two years ago. They are known as the Holders of the Silver Tags. Or, at least that’s what we called them. We had kept in touch with them after leaving the Digital World, but about a week ago they disappeared with no trace.
Davis says it’s just a bunch of punks playing a joke on the society. I mean, Justin and Nathan I could understand. Maybe Kyle too. But Val wouldn’t have the idea for this. See, Davis, Yoli, Codi and Wallace had never met them, so they don’t know. About a month ago, we finished off Kokomon, and two years before that, Matt and Tai defeated the virus. That was when we learned about DNA DigiVolving. But, that’s another story. Alana was in that fight too, and so was Kyle. They also had their Digimon DNA DigiVolve. But, as I said, that’s another story.
Tai wants us to go back and look for them. I know it’s odd, but I don’t want to. Remembering the way that Kyle had treated us…me…made me feel sick on the inside, and for almost the first time ever, I felt bitter at the thought of finding and helping him.
But, Tai insisted that we do so. He and the others won’t be able to meet us right away, and will show up about a day or so later.
I just hope that Kyle’s changed a little. Having to face him again like that might not be a good thing. Especially for Davis and the others. I don’t want to see Davis end up like him. Dead.

Kari and the others stood in front of a computer in the high school where Izzy was. The lights in the room were dim, so as not to reflect off the many computer screens and blind those that were in there.

“You guys ready?” the redhead asked, looking at the five of them.
The five of them nodded in return.
“Now remember, Wallace will meet you at the Bladeramon Village. The others don’t know you’re coming, so be careful. Especially around Alana and Kyle. Don’t get on anyone’s bad side,” when he said Kyles name, his eyes shot at Kari. “And be careful. These kids might attack you if they don’t recognize you.”
T.K. frowned, remembering two years ago.
Yoli smirked. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go!” she held her red-pink D3 up to the computer and was sucked in. Codi and Davis held theirs up as well. Davis smirked, and said, “See ya on the other side!” and was gone.
Codi sighed and was also sucked in. T.K. and Kari exchanged glances, then were also sucked in.
Izzy smiled slightly. “Good luck, and you’ll need it.”
He then shut the computer down, and left the room.

The girl sat bolt up, her face was wet with sweat, and her long blond hair stuck to it like glue. She looked around her with wide eyes, and soon calmed down. The cool night air soon made the hot perspiration leave her face and body.

The purple-blue form of a half-human and half-horse-like creature turned and looked at the girl from its position next to her.
<’Another dream?’> she asked in her odd speech of mind.
The blond didn’t answer.
<’If you wish not to talk about it, I understand. But, tell me that, okay?’> the human-like eyes looked at the girl, and when she didn’t answer, the Digimon turned so her blades glittered in the moonlight that showered onto the DigiWorld. <’Alana, it’s nearly been two years! You need to get a grip on your mind!’>
Still, the blond didn’t answer.
<’I can’t help you if you don’t talk to me!’> the female Digimon growled. <’Now tell me what’s wrong!’>
“Everything, okay?!” the blond yelled, glaring at her Digimon. “Everything has always been wrong! Nothing is ever right! Never!”
<’Alana…’> the Digimon began, but the girl was up and gone.
The Digimon stood; her thin and delicate legs full of power. She narrowed her silver eyes.
She shook her humanoid head, and trotted after the girl.

The blond ran through the forest like a bullet, jumping fallen trees and ferns. Her face was like stone. Cold and emotionless.

Why does she care anyway?! I can have the damn dreams if I want to!
Suddenly the girl ran smack dab into someone, and fell to the ground with a thud.
The boy turned to look at her.
The girl’s eyes widened as she looked at, not a boy, but an angel! It was Angemon! The Digimon blinked, then yelled, “Over here! I think I found someone!”
Nine forms ran over to where the DigiVolved Patomon stood.
The Digimon de-DigiVolved, and flew over to a boys head, and rested on it. The boy looked at Alana, and blinked.
“Have I seen you before?” he asked.
“Not likely,” she hissed, standing up, and balling her gloved fists.
His blue eyes took in her snow-camouflage pants, gray tee, and light tan vest.
“I do know you!” he said. “I’ve seen that vest before!”
“So?” Alana spat, and suddenly Bladeramon entered the clearing. She took one look around, then hissed, <’Intruders! You shall wish you had never found this world!’>
“Stop!” Gatomon yelled, running out from behind Kari. “Bladeramon, leave these children alone! You shall not harm the DigiDestend!”
<’DigiDestend?’> the centaur-like Digimon questioned, then laughed. <’Gatomon! If I didn’t know better, I’d say that your human is Kari and that Patomon’s human is T.K.!’>
“They are,” Patomon said with a smile.
Bladeramon turned and looked at Alana, then looked at T.K. and Kari. <’You two have grown.’> she said with a smile only her eyes were involved in.
Kari gave off a shaky smile.
“And the others?” Alana asked, glaring at the other three children.
“Oh,” Kari said, then motioned to a purple hared girl with glasses. “This is Yoli. He’s Codi,” she pointed to a brown hared boy who was about nine or ten. “And that’s Davis,” Kari pointed at a spiky hared kid with goggles on his head.
“Looks like that brother of yours,” Alana said crossing her arms.
Kari shrugged.
“So, how’s the DigiWorld been?” T.K. questioned.
Alana glared at him. “It’s dying, because no one’s been here to care for it.”
Kari felt guilty about not having been in the Digital World for so long, and decided to change the subject. “How’s Felina doing?”
“The DigiWorld is a big place, human.”
“Hey, we’re all people! At least call us by our names!” growled Davis.
Alana narrowed her eyes, then walked toward him. She lifted her hand to his face, and made a fist. “Don’t make me hurt you, human.”
Kari crossed her arms, and glared. “Back off, Alana. He doesn’t know about you guys yet.”
“Well, tell him!” the blond snapped, then lowered her fist. “I’ll let you live. This time.”
She turned, and began to walk away, but Yoli yelled after her.
“We’re here to find some kids that disappeared! Have you seen anyone?”
Alana stopped, her heart thudding. She turned to face the others slowly. Suddenly, she had Yoli but the throat, and had her pinned to the ground, gasping for air.
“Who?!” she roared. “Tell me who has intruded on this world!”
“Just…some kids,” the girl gasped, clutching Alana’s hands and trying to pull them away.
“Alana,” the blond glanced at Kari out of the corner of her eyes.
“What?” she snapped.
“Kyle, Nathan, Justin and Val. Those are who we came to find.”
Alana dropped Yoli’s neck, and stood up.
“Are you certain?”
Kari nodded.
Alana frowned. “They wouldn’t return. Not even Kyle. Not for any reason.”
“Except if Judi came back,” T.K. said.
Codi and Davis both looked at each other, then shrugged. They had no idea what was going on.
Yoli adjusted her glasses, and stood up. Hawkmon ran over to her, then glanced at Bladeramon. Veemon and Armadillomon followed him. The two also looked at the girl and the Digimon.
Armadillomon began to explain about Bladeramon, but Alana cut him off.
“Save it. I’m going to do you guys a favor in exchange for a full explanation on why I’m going to do it for you. Follow me.” She turned and headed into the trees.
“Um, wait!” Yoli yelled, running up behind her.
“What?”
“Where are you taking us?”
“To the Bladeramon Village. I’m headed there on my rounds anyway. Now, let’s get going,” she continued on into the forest, and was soon swallowed up by the dark trees.
“Well, we better go. We’re planning on meeting Wallace and Terriermon there too…” Codi said, then followed Alana into the forest. The others soon agreed to go, and were gone.

Bladeramon turned and looked at Alana.

<’Don’t you think you should slow down?’> she asked.
Alana narrowed her eyes, but did as the Digimon had suggested.
The other kids soon caught up, all of them panting.
“Why do you want to go to the Bladeramon Village?” Alana asked, stopping near the lake that the six of them had approached.
“We’re meeting someone there,” said Yoli. “What about you? Why were you going there anyway?”
T.K. blinked, then remembered.

Alana ran off into the trees as the others watched.

“Where’s she going?” someone asked.
“We’ll tell you, if you wait,” Kyle had answered.

T.K. closed his eyes. So, he thought. It’s already been that long. It’s already been two years since he was reborn, then was killed…

The blonde opened his eyes. He saw that Alana had her fists clenched.
He turned to Yoli. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Okay,” Yoli said after hesitating.
“We’ll camp here,” Alana said. “You,” she pointed at Davis, “You get some wood. Make sure it’s dry. You,” she nodded at Codi, “You’ll get some large leaves.” She then turned to Kari and T.K. and Yoli. She frowned. “You three stay here. I’ll go get some fish.” With that said, the girl turned to the lake.
Kari turned and looked at T.K.
“You think she remembers us?” she asked.
“I don’t doubt it,” he answered, frowning. “But…I just don’t understand it…”
“What?” Yoli asked.
“I don’t understand why she seems to be so much more full of hate…why does she hate everyone so much?”
Patomon looked up at T.K.
Gatomon glanced at Alana. “I guess it’s because she can’t stand to see others so full of joy. If you ask me, she’d be better off dead.”
“Gatomon,” Kari turned and looked at her Digimon. “Don’t say stuff like that.”
“Why not? I mean, it’s true…it’s not like she’ll ever feel anything towards anyone. Not even him.”
“Who?” Yoli asked, completely lost. Hawkmon also looked lost.
“Sean,” T.K. and Kari answered.
“Who’s he?” Hawkmon inquired.
Kari felt her mind go blank. For some reason, she couldn’t think. Gatomon looked over at Bladeramon, who was using her long thin tail to spear fish. Sparkling diamond like drops of water sprinkled everywhere as she drew the tip out, a flailing fish on the end.
“Sean…” T.K. muttered. “None of us knew who he really was.”
Patomon nodded.
“It seems she still has him on her mind,” Gatomon said with a sigh.
“How many years has it been? Four? Five?” Patomon asked, looking at his human.
“Longer,” T.K. replied. “I think it’s been six years at the least. Maybe seven.”
Yoli threw her hands in the air, exasperated. “Fine! I give up! Don’t tell me what’s going on!” she stalked away, followed by Hawkmon.
Kari closed her eyes. “I don’t understand why this has to happen again. Why do we have to find the others? I mean, remember how Kyle and the others acted toward us?”
T.K. nodded. “I agree. But, I think we owe this to them.”
“Why? What have they done for us?” Gatomon asked, narrowing her eyes.
“I know you and Anthylamon never really got along, but at least you could act a little more dignified about it all,” Patomon said, flying over to a fallen tree where Yoli and Hawkmon were sitting.
Kari closed her eyes. Maybe he’s right. Maybe we are being a little too irrational about it all. Well, she opened her eyes, I hope Kyle’s changed some.

Alana thrashed about in her sleep, her eyes were shut tight as the memories flooded her mind and evaded her thoughts.

Fire was all around as she stood alone. She heard shrieks of pain and suffering that seemed to echo around the valley that she was in. She turned her head, and saw Kyle. He was standing near a girl with kinked hair, and with a gray, black, and white Gatomon. KuraiGatomon.
Alana blinked, then saw the girl lift a knife. Its silver blade glinted in the flame light. The blonde watched with horror as the girl lowered the blade to Kyle’s throat.
Then, the image changed, and instead of Heather killing Kyle, it was Kyle killing a boy. The boy was about nine, and had dark brown hair, and cobalt blue eyes. Dark angel kisses dotted his face, and he was dressed in blue sweat pants, and a white shirt.
The knife sliced through the boys’ skin, leaving crimson red blood in its wake. The boy collapsed to the ground, his eyes were wide as the pain flooded his mind. Alana began to try and run to him, to save him. But, the faster she ran, the further away he got. He slowly fell to the ground.
The girl stopped, her eyes grew wide, and she let out a scream.
Alana’s eyes shot open, and she sat up, screaming her head off.
Bladeramon turned and looked at her. <’Alana! Calm down! It was only a dream!’>
Alana stopped screaming, and panted, trying to catch her breath.
Codi and the others ran over to see what was going on.
“Alana?” Kari questioned. She moved closer to the girl and lightly touched her arm.
Alana jolted her arm away from the girl. “Get away from me!” she shrieked.
Kari stumbled backward.
Alana stood up and was gone into the forest.
T.K. began to go after her, but Bladeramon stood up and stopped him. <’Don’t worry about her. You and I both know where she’s going.’>
Yoli exchanged glances with Davis and Codi. All six of the new Destined pairs were confused about what Bladeramon meant.

Alana ran as fast as her legs would carry her. Leaves and twigs slapped at her face and ripped her cloths.

It’s not fair! Why of all people am I the only one plagued with these dreams?!
Alana slowed to a walk, recognizing the clearing that she was in. Her heart thumped as she looked at the grave at the foot of a large cherry tree. She stumbled over to it, and collapsed.
She smiled, then began to cry. Her features had become clouded from pain and fear. After a moment or two, she stood up, and walked over to a hole at the base of the tree. She reached a hand in, and pulled out a smooth rock. But, not just any rock. It was smooth and had a silver sheen to it. She smirked as she pulled out seven others, much like it.
“I could do it again…just this once…just to see you again…but, that would be wrong…wouldn’t it? It would be selfish of me…” she closed her eyes, and took the rocks over to the grave, and set them down. “I want to so bad…”
A sudden rustling of bushes caught her off guard, and she stood up, looking around with narrowed eyes.
“Why, hello there, Alana,” a voice said, and a shadow came from the trees, followed by another.
