Quidditch and Muggle Sports Quidditch is a sport that, in many ways, resembles several muggle sparts. One of those sports is football (soccer). The ball used for scoring in football (soccer) is roughly the same size as the Quaffle in Quidditch. Also, there is a goalkeeper in football as there is in Quidditch and the players pass each other the ball to move it around. However, that is pretty much where the similarities stop. Another Muggle sport that has similarities to Quidditch is called "basketball" it is a sport where people through a bouncy ball through a hoop. In this sport, the players also pass the ball to each every once in a while.
Dodgeball is yet another Muggle sport that shares aspects with Quidditch. In dodgeball, Muggles lob foam balls at each other to try to get them out. That idea ties in with the Bludgers in Quidditch. (Though I'm sure that we all know that it takes much more skill and courage to play Quidditch, whereas the "dodgeballs" actually hurt!).
The last sport that is related to Quidditch is called "baseball". The only thing similar is that both sports use a large stick to hit a ball. Beyond that, the games are entirely different.
As you can see Muggle sports and Quidditch share many similarities, though Quidditch is still a very unique sport. It is easy to feel sorry for the Muggles to not have brooms to fly on, becuase perhaps then they might have developed more exciting sports like Quidditch. Many historians speculate that many Muggle sports have some root in Quidditch. The Muggles might have glimpsed a game or two and desired a game that they might play that could be as exciting and as fun.

Chapter 3:
Playing the Game Object: To score more points than the other time before the game ends.
Scoring: Getting the Quaffle through one of the other team's hoops: 10 points Snatching the Snitch: 150 points
Start of the Game: The team captains shake hands. Then, when all the players have mounted their brooms, the referee blows his or her whistle to start the game.
Fouling: There are 700 ways to commit a foul. Some of the ways are: -To hit a player on the other team. -To block another player intentionally. -To hold onto another player's broom with the intention of slowing them down. The player who was fouled generally gets a penalty. However, for some fouls, the ball simply goes into possession of the team that the fouled player is on.
Winning: The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Ending the Game: The game ends once the snitch has been caught.
