Maze Bakunetsu Jikuu
~ Maze Megaburst Space ~
~ Maze ~

From left to right: Mill, Maze

Mill: Oneniisama!* Wah!!!!!!!!! (gurgling, pouting, and uncontrollale sobbing)

The Cast:

Genre:
Mech mixed with a little ecchi, action, fantasy, magical girl, and comedy.
Series Info:
There are 25 episodes, each about half an hour long. It has been licensed in the U.S.
Soundtrack Info:
There is an OST that has 36 tracks. The opening song is the enthusiastic "Kokuu No Meikyuu" ("empty sky labyrinth"). The ending song is the equally enthusiastic "Junk Boy," which has one of the funniest ending animation sequences ever-- it's got Mill dancing, then some old guy... you should just watch it.
Random Fact:
The mechs in this series are called "demi armor." However, I really don't feel like talking about the various types when you can readily find such info on another site-- go to the first link at the bottom of the page.
Summary:
It's been several years since I've seen this anime, so I'm a bit rusty. However, I'll give it my best shot.
Imagine you're Ikaruga Mei, a normal teenage girl living in Japan. You go to bed one night and you wake up the next morning to discover that the "Wizard of Oz"-esque scenario of your house landing in the middle of nowhere has just happened to you and your house-- you are now in the middle of a jungle. To make matters worse, a young girl suddenly charges at you and asks you to protect her-- it seems your house crushed the guys who were chasing her. It turns out that she is the recently dethroned Princess Mill. Then you can't remember your name... Well, your name is "Maze" now. Honestly, could your day be any worse? Well, it gets worse because you can't stay in your house anymore and Princess Mill, it turns out, is as annoying as a certain hyper cat girl from Escaflowne. Then, to make matters more confusing, it turns out that Mill has a big mech at her disposal-- the royal demi armor Duelgar. Of course, this means that we have a transformation scene, which they show every time that Mill transforms... So with your new ward, you're ready to discover that fighting really isn't your thing even though you seem to have really strong magic at your disposal. Then, as if things weren't bad enough, the sun sets and you transform into a guy, who really likes womanizing and fighting. Princess Mill, of course, falls in love with this male version of you. Hilarity, naturally, ensues. So what is the deal with this female by day, male by night situation? Why was Princess Mill dethroned? Where are you? What's going on?!
Review:
2.5/5 stars
Admittedly, this is the series that really got me back into anime (I had about a 2 year anime hiatus during which I was convinced I hated anime, or something...). However, that barely makes up for the fact that this series is, at times incredibly confusing, and at other times incredibly dirty. The characters all tend to get on your nerves about 5 seconds after you've met them (except for Solude and Aster-- they're just so funny) and only Maze has a good amount of character development. The music, although incredibly corny and funny, leaves something to be desired. However, in defense of this anime, I'd have to say that it was incredibly amusing and hilarious. The plot, although confusing at times, is interesting (good-interesting, that is) and is easy to get caught up in. Also, the ending sequence is absolutely precious... I would recommend this series if you don't really have anything better to watch and I'd say that it's worth watching at some point.

*Oneniisama- It's a hybrid of "oneesama" ("big sister") and "oniisama" ("big brother"), so it means something like "big sister-brother."
