There are 21 books in all, including the Sentinels. The novels are all written by Jack McKinney, a persona of two actual writers. The novels remain the only source of information on the Sentinels and what happens after the last episode of Robotech. However, the novel timeline and the series timelines are completely different. Things happen in different times and many things do not happen at all. The novels are best viewed as an "alternate dimension". You need to keep this in mind as you read, otherwise you will be severly confused. The SRP of each novel is $5.99.
Robotech Books 1-6, First Generation
These chronicle the events that occur in the Macross Saga portion of the series. Books 1-3 and 4-6 are available in three-in-one books.
Robotech Books 7-9, Second Generation
These chronicle the events that occur in the Southern Cross portion of the series. The books are available in a three-in-one book.
Robotech Books 11-12, Third Generation
These chronicle the events that occur in the New Generation/Mospeada portion of the series. The books are available only individually.
Sentinels Books 13-17, Sentinels (1-5)
These chronicle the events of the ill-fated TV series, Robotech II The Sentinels. This and the comics remain the only source of what happens in the Sentinels. Books 1-3 (13-15) are available in a three-in-one book, four and five are available individually only.
Robotech Books 18-20, Lost Generation
The End of the Circle chronicles the events after the last episode of the series. It features every cast member (still alive) from the show and most books. It answers almost (if not all) every major and minor question you could have about Robotech. But, keep in mind this is in the novel timeline only.
The Zentraedi Rebellion chronicles the events after the end of the Macross Saga and prior to the lift-off of the SDF-3. This one is definetly worth reading.
The Masters Gambit chronicles the events prior to The Masters arrival on earth. It is actually a butchered combination of the Robotech comic, The CyberPirates, and the Robotech movie, Robotech the movie: the Untold Story. It features Eve, the SDF-1s supercomputer, a group of hackers, the Japanese Yakuza, and Lazlo Zand, the head of the Protoculture research facility. Not to mention another character from the comics, Terry Weston.
Before The Invid Storm, picks up exactly where the last episode of SC left off. It basically tells how Dana leaves for Tirol (no thats not a spoiler, you would have found out anyways.) This is also the last novel and will be the last novel by McKinney.
