It was only a game.
That was the way most stories of this type start. It was only a game, a toy, something with which to pass the time. But unfortunately, for Bura this was not the case. Now, she wasn’t completely obsessed with Zelda. After all, it was a great game and all, but she had a social life to take of. However, more often than not, one could find her sitting on the bed in her brother’s room, fingers flying furiously over the controller, occasionally cursing at the screen. She wasn’t obsessed, but she was a serious gamer.
When she wasn’t at the N64, she was with her Fiancé, Son Goten. He was a handsome twenty-five year old, always goofing off or wasting time with Bura’s brother, Trunks. Now, this didn’t really bother her; after all, the reason she was marrying him was because of his sense of humor. But it DID annoy the hell out of her father. He hated Goten with a fiery passion, and had recently decided his one true purpose in life was to abolish all thoughts of marriage from Bura’s head. But she ignored her tousan completely, and went right on loving Goten.
Which brings us back to the story. Bura, Goten…Zelda. The three main characters in this story, Zelda referring to the game itself, not the actual person. As you will soon discover, not all is well in this love triangle. Especially when a certain Saiyan princess decides that her life is just a little bit too dull…
The Magical Ocarina of Time: A Nice Day for Dark Thoughts
She had decided long ago that she needed a bit more spice in her life. I mean, sure being rich, popular, and beautiful was great, but it only took you so far in life. Bura really needed something special to lift her out her slump and show her why she’d chosen this sunny path to life in the first place.
As the rain drummed steadily on the window, Bura whipped out her trusty diary and began to scribble quickly in it. She wrote about her day, what she’d had for lunch, but most importantly, about her upcoming wedding with Son Goten. They’d been planning this thing for months, right down to who sat where and how much the food would cost. Everything would be completed in a few weeks and three months from now she and Goten could spend the rest of their lives together.
She sighed and closed her diary, and fell back on the bed. How could she possibly thing of doing something for the rest of her life when there wasn’t enough to do now?
After staring at the ceiling for a few moments, she hopped off the bed and walked into her brother’s room next door. The place was empty; had been for months. Her brother had just recently gotten up the courage to propose to his long-time girlfriend Marron, and she had most willing excepted. Since then, Trunks had gone to live with Marron, and their wedding was planned for about a year after Bura’s. Now she had the whole house to herself, minus her parents of course.
She sat Indian-style on the edge of the bed and stretching toward the small shelf that housed all her brother’s gaming equipment, flipped on the N64. Grabbing a controller from the same shelf, she pressed the start button and scrolled down to her game, affectionately named Linky-poo. Pressing the A button, she found herself inside the Temple of Time with Adult Link standing patiently facing the entrance, waiting for her instructions. After a moment, she decided to just warp to Lake Hylia and try the water temple again, since last time she’d been killed by the boss.
"Damn Morpha." She growled to herself as she changed link into his Zora Tunic. Jogging him toward the water’s edge, she put him in his iron boots and walked into the huge cavern that was Lake Hylia.
After messing around in the dungeon for a while, Bura grew quite bored. Morpha had killed her twice, and she was getting tired of having to constantly run around getting heart pieces and magic and all things of that sort. Yawning, she reached over to shut off the N64.
It didn’t turn off.
Frowning, she flipped the switch again. Nothing. She glared down at the N64. It was in the off position, definitely. Raising an eyebrow, she flipped it one more time. The image of link and the water temple disappeared.
Bura shook her head. "Weird." She muttered to herself as she got up and left the room

Link couldn’t believe his dumb luck. One minute he was standing right before the boss chamber, sword at ready, preparing to fight Morpha for the umpteenth time that week…then he was back at the temple of time, sucked there by some mysterious force he had come to dub the ending blackness. It struck him at the oddest times. Sometimes right after he beat a boss, more often than not just running around Hyrule. He hated the dreaded blackness. It consumed him and whatever was around him into its depths, throwing the entire world into confusion. He tried his best to fight it, but it was no use. The blackness won in the end.
Sighing, he sheathed his sword and sat on the floor. Might as well get comfy. It could be a while before light returned to Hyrule and he would be able to resume his adventures as the hero of time.

Bura was beyond depressed. Despite everything that was going on, she was bored stiff. And what with her trying to stop her mother from taking over the wedding and her father preaching the evils of marriage to a son brat, there was hardly a bit of time left for herself. She couldn’t take it anymore. She was tempted to just grab Goten and elope.
Sighing deeply, she trudged toward her brother’s room. When in doubt, play Zelda. After all, if she couldn’t find a way out of the hell that was life, why not go control someone else’s?
She plopped onto the bed and turned on the N64. She warped to the fire temple and ran around aimlessly for a while, jumping into the lava and killing fire bats out of sheer boredom.
She was just about to jump into the lava for the fifth time straight when Link abruptly stopped. She pushed the control forward, but he refused to budge. Frowning, she pulled in the other direction. Link immediately moved backward, but when she tried to move him forward again he didn’t move an inch.
She leaned forward toward the T.V screen and stared. And then, to her ultimate horror:
He stared right back.
She gasped and started to back up. And then, as though that weren’t enough, Link spoke for the first time ever.
"What is the purpose of jumping into the lava? It only brings me back up here, not to mention the fact it hurts like hell. Sorry to spoil your fun, but it’s really starting to piss me off."
The shock she felt in that moment caused her to fall off the bed. She scrambled toward the T.V and blinked at it.
"But you’re not real." She said gaping.
Link blinked at her, and all of a sudden the temple started to get hazy. Bura could tell he was saying something, but it was distorted and crackled. Sparks began to fly from the N64 and smoke started to rise from the back of the console.
Bura reached a shaking hand forward to turn it off, to hopefully end what had to be a horrible nightmare.
Her hand touched the power button. There was a massive jolt of electricity, and Bura was surrounded by a blue aura, her body feeling like it was on fire. The air in front of her began to swirl, and she could just barely make out a song coming from the center of it before the world went black.
