Champions and Leaders: Sankaku Gakuen

Location
Sankaku HS is located in the heart of New Tokyo's urban metroplex. Conveniently situated amongst various shopping centers, all of the off campus needs of Sankaku's students can be found in the surrounding area.

Introduction to the Sankaku HS Education System

The students of Sankaku HS, more than those of any other school, display an enormous variety in interests and foci, not least reflected by the numerous amounts of on-campus clubs and teams. An outsider may understandably question how such a superficially 'ordinary' school has managed to attract such diversity. In fact, diversity is the norm for students at this stage in education, and Sankaku HS merely accomodates this into its infrastructure, whereas most other schools turn out (albeit unconsciously) to have a tendency to suppress this important quality in the spirit of youth.

The greatest outstanding trait of this school, short of its diversity, is how most on-campus disputes are handled. Take into consideration the origins of the school's founder. Heishiro Todoroki got his start in tournament street fighting. Thusly, Sankaku HS became the innovator of the school-sanctioned "Kessen Circuit" that now exists in the New Tokyo school district.

The Sankaku HS motto conjectures that "An unconfining education is only possible in an unrestrictive school environment." It follows that the education policy is grounded on a firm belief in the importance of free will. This does not mean that school regulations need not be followed, on the contrary Trinity's disciplinary quality is well above average, but the approach is to let students understand the ethical value of the regulations so that they follow them willingly, as opposed to hardline enforcement based purely on the disincentive of punishment. Even the methods of punishment themselves have a keen emphasis on getting students to think about the validity of the regulations.

The entry selection procedure best exemplifies the esteem in which students' individuality is held by Sankaku HS. All candidates are required to undergo both a written examination and an interview; this is irrespective of whether a candidate is a current junior high student in the Sankaku Academy or from a different school (so returning students have no advantage over external applicants). The interview evaluates students' extracurricular interests as well as overall personality, and not only carries more weight than the raw exam marks, but is in fact used to scale the marks for different subjects in accordance with where the students' interests lie. The result is the widely and enthusiastically involved students we see at Sankaku HS today.

Founded on freedom, the school spirit of Sankaku HS is like the triangular prism that symbolizes the school, a rainbow of colors that shines more brightly than any other - because it has the freedom to do so.
