Keiko Ishida
Brought up in the close-knit rural fields of Miyama-cho, Keiko Ishida is symbolic of their "grass roots" nature. Very self-sufficient and not beyond getting her hands dirty to further what she believes in, some would describe her as "tough," or "tomboyish." However, that couldn't be further from the truth. Keiko is very much a lady and her feminine side often shines through. In order to counter her femininity being taken for weakness, Keiko took up Kendo instead of archery.
As for Keiko and swordfighting, she is second to only one other on the campus of Sankaku HS and that is her longtime rival/friend, Hayato. One of Keiko's top goals before she graduates is to convince her classmate of the benefits to affiliating himself with a school-sanctioned club. Unfortunately, her consistent negotiations and Hayato's refusals lead to fights breaking out between Hayato and the ENTIRE Kendo Club.
As was inferred earlier, Keiko is a swordfighter nearly unparalelled in her school. Although she, like Hayato, has permission to bring steel onto the campus due to recognition of skill, Keiko prefers to use the bokken. In particular, she uses her prized bokken Shisentou. Like Hayato, Keiko also fights utilizing Bushido and Iaijutsu sword styles.
