Ken Ichijouji was actually an average child when he was younger. His older brother, Osamu/Sam was the family genius. Ken looked up to Osamu/Sam a great deal.Ken blamed himself for Osamu/Sam's death; a fan-presumed car accident. Ken was also possessed, so to speak, when he placed his Digivice in a corrupted stream. While the Digimon Kaizer, Ken became the evil genius we knew and loved. He started taking over the Digital World one Control Spire at a time. Of course, that wasn't meant to last. As we all know, Ken got thoroughly whomped by Chimeramon and the Digidestined. The loss of Wormmon is finally what helped break whatever was left of Ken's evil streak, and he is now on a long road to redemption.
The "new and improved" Ken is getting back on his feet, re-learning about himself and life in general. He's got a lot of self-improvement to do, and he knows it. Instead of feeling sorry for himself, he chooses to accept the blame of what he's done, and is trying his best to right the wrongs he did. Sometimes, though, his dreaded memories surface and crush his hope and will.But, Ken is nice now, even to the point of being shy. However, the strength he showed as the Digimon Kaizer has not left him, as seen when he and Stingmon are in battle. Secure in his decisions, Ken and his Digimon are definitely a force to be reckoned with.Ken is also trying to reconnect with people. He's doing a much better job of it when it comes to his family than with others, though. He has yet to feel comfortable enough with himself to join the other Digidestined, even though he is one of them.As the digimon emporer/kaizer, Ken thought that because he's a genius, everyone else is inferior to him and not worth his time. He even thinks this of his own parents. Though they love him, they don't understand him.
