"I'd like to introduce my new girl, Willow Mae. She fell in love with me at first sight and I soon felt the same toward her. I've only had her since Oct 2010 and we have been busy. I needed another dog to some day replace my aging Service Dog (SD) Cindy. I put word out through the berner grape vine and Natalie Ellis Rake stepped up and gave me this wonderful girl. She had two litters for Natalie then she was retired at five. If anyone has a Wind in the Willows dog, I'd like to hear from you. (Post on the berner-L and I'll respond.) I started Willow Mae's training with two obedience classes. Then, we moved on to SD in training status. Next, we passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and my organization's public access test. I must admit, she is more obedient than Cindy and will do anything I ask of her. I recently proclaimed her a trained SD. Aside from Cindy being my SD, she is also a Delta Society Pet Partner. When Cindy and I renewed our registration, I decided to have Willow Mae and myself tested to see if we qualified as a team and we also passed the test! I am so pleased with both my sweet girls. Now as Cindy slows her pace, I can take Willow Mae to the places I visit to do pet therapy. Both girls like sleeping in bed with me. It's a tight squeeze with Willow Mae at the head of the bed and Cindy claiming the bottom of the bed, which is closer to the fan. I hope to have both girls well into their teenage years."
