SAKURA

Episode 4: Dark Disaster (Part One)

Threw the eyes of Sakura

The school rang as kids slowly flooded out of the school. Near the end was me. I stretched out in the sunlight. It had been two days of no test so far. I was happy. I could rest, get homework done, catch up on what happened the three days I was asleep. It was nearing summer vacation, so that there was only 1 week of school left before, so the school had decided to throw an end of the year dance. I wasn’t sure if I’d go, but then again, it might help me calm down from the test, And maybe any upcoming tests.

Later at Sakura’s house

“You should go Sakura.” Kero said playing his video game as usual. “You think so?” I asked him unsure. “Yea, it’ll be good for you. Besides, you need to relax, you’ve been threw a lot this week.” I thought. I had been threw a lot. “So who should I ask to go with. Its complimentary.”

Kero was concentrating on his game. I sighed. “You should ask who ever your heart tells you to.” Kero said. “Alright! The high score!” I laid on my bed thinking. Who to ask? I sighed. My heart told me, but my mind said not to. Should I? My mind raced with answers. I should and I shouldn’t, how I should, why I should.

I sighed and sat up, “Kero, are you sure?” “Yes, invite the person you want to the most. That’ll relax you for sure.” I thought. The dance was in two days. I would have  to ask Li quick.

At Li’s house

“Awe, man.” He paced the floor. “I have to get the Clow Cards or mom will rip my powers away. She knew there was judgment already.” Li was getting upset fast.

“Sakura’s my friend. I can’t just take them from her. Mom wants to see that I’ve caught them all, or else I can’t come back to Japan!” He paced faster. Suddenly his phone rang. He looked at it and gulped. “Hope that’s not mom.” He said slowly walking over to the phone.

I held the phone up to my ear. ‘Please be home’ I hoped in my mind. The phone rang six times before he answered. He stuttered into the phone. H-h-hello.” I wondered why he was so nervous. “Hey Li.” I said into the phone. It sounded like he dropped the phone on the other line. It also sounded like he scrambled to pick it up. “Hey Sakura!” He said Nervously into the phone. “Li, why are you so nervous?” I asked him. “Nervous! Who’s nervous! I’m not nervous!”

I giggled. There was no need for him to deny it. “Uh, Li, there’s something I wanted to ask you,” My face feeling red already. “I also, have something to ask Sakura.” He said even more nervous into the phone. I giggled. “Really?” “Uh, huh.” He said into the phone. “I’ll go first. Li, would you go to the dance with me?”

Sakura heard a crash from the other end. “Li. Are you alright?” again, he scrambled for the phone. “I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-“ He stammered. I giggled. There was pause, then he said, “S-s-sure…”I smiled. “Thanks Li.” “N-n-no problem S-Sakura.” Then he hung up. I listen to the tone as I wondered, “I bet Li was going to ask me anyways.” I said smiling. I hung up the phone and lay on my bed and closed my eye’s imagining what it would be like. “So he said yes huh.” My eye’s shot open and said, “KERO! I forgot you where here!”

“Heh, so that’s the thanks I get for telling you to call him.” Kero said shrugging his shoulders.

“Why’d I say yes?” Li said pacing the floor faster than he ever did. “Going with her to the dance with her will give her the impression I like her! Oh, Meilin won’t like this!

Two days later

It was the 4:00 at night when Li picked me up for the dance. I was glad he kept his word. “Hey Li.” I said after opening the door and seeing him. My brother looked at him suspiciously. We finally left at 4:15 after Li told my brother he was only escorting me to the dance as friends. He was right. We where just going as friends. Besides, if there was going to be a test at school, he could help me.

He was uptight most of the way relaxing every now and again to take a breath. “Li, you don’t have to be so uptight. Where just going as friends.” I said to him. He began to get a little less stressed. We finally reached the school and saw Madison wearing a gorgeous gown. It was white with ribbons and flowers, and flashy items to make her stand out. In her hand was her camera and she was recording every couple that was entering the dance. Li was shocked at seeing Madison with her camera. I smiled at him. “She always tapes these dances.” Li was shocked. It was his first dance, and he didn’t want Madison to tape it.

Suddenly her camera turned to us. “OH!” She said lowering the camera. “Hey Sakura.” She looked at Li. “So you two came together.” She said smiling. “I-I-I-it’s not what it looks like!” Li said taking a step back. “Oh Li.” I said. Li looked at me shocked and I smiled. “W-w-w-where here as friends!” Li said stating back to Madison. “Right.” She began taping again and started it with us. “You two make a happy couple.” Madison joked. Li froze like an anime person would.

I smiled at him and laughed. “Come on Li.” I said grabbing his arm. His heavily bordered frozen head slowly turned to me. I smiled and pulled him into the gym. Madison tapped the whole thing. Inside dances where taking place, people where sitting on the seats, people where at the food bar. “Come on Li! It’s a dance, so lets dance!” Li looked around. Nobody seemed to know they where there. “Do we have to?” He stammered. I smiled. “Of course. Its not called a dance for nothing!”

The first fast paced song was over and the announcer said, “Ok, now our principal said we had to play at least one slow song, so lets get it over with.” You could tell it was a kid. Some kids groaned and others where happy. Kids began to leave the floor and true couples stayed on the floor, and others went on.

“Come on Li!” I said showing him to the dance floor. “But it’s a slow dance!” He said looking stunned at me. “So, come on.” I dragged him onto the floor. The song began. Sure enough, it was a slow dance. I didn’t know which one it was but I helped Li into the position everyone else was in, and began to slowly dance. Li was shaky, but I was calm and relaxed. The song went on and Li relaxed as he just concentrated on me. I smiled. On the side line, Madison had come in and was reordering the whole dance.

It was going smoothly, the dance was nice, until, suddenly, the lights went out and everybody screamed.
