Touya/ Tori is Sakura's older brother. He teases her a lot, but he protects Sakura from any danger. Thus, he is always on alert when Li Shaolan is around Sakura because he won't forget the time Shaolan attacked her. Touya/ Tori also has an innate ability to see ghosts and see through the disguises of spirits. He can sometimes see his mother's ghost, like in the episode where Sakura captures the Illusion card.

He also has some magical powers which enable him to sense things and see into the spirit world. This means that he can see through the Mirror card when it pretends to be Sakura. He knows that Kero isn't just a stuffed toy and knows who Yukito/Julian really is. Throughout the Sakura Star series, he tries to tell Yukito/Julian who he really is but always gets interrupted by Ruby.
He is very clever and studies hard. He is also always changing jobs and will often be working part time while studying. He enjoys helping people out as well. Like Sakura, he is athletic and plays on the soccer team.
Touya/Tori at one time went out with Kaho Mizuki/Mrs. McKenzee, who used to be his math teacher. However they broke it off, as she had to go to England and teach there. Kaho Mizuki/ Mrs. McKenzee and Touya/Tori and have a mutual affection for each other and are both rather protective of Sakura. These days, the object of his affection is his best friend, Yukito/Julian who he is very protective of. He senses that Yukito is not all that he seems and trusts him to take care of Sakura during the Sakura Star card Season.
